What's your complaint about the supermarket?

It's always so crowded to checkout. There are always people there wait for a long line to checkout. And I think it really waste all of our time. Isn't it a better method for it? Sometimes if I am not going to buy a lot of products, I don't want to go to the supermarket, especially in weekends. I don't want to waste more time to wait for the checkout.

Hi youless. I don't mind it too much but it can be tiring waiting in line. We usually go on a week night where it's not too crowded. I've noticed that it is very busy in the weekends too. I just wished they had more sales and discounts on all products and not just a select few.

I don't like the fruit and veg at supermarkets. You know the stuff, the ruler straight, rock hard, tasteless orange rods sold as "carrots" and the shiny perfectly round apples that you can see your reflection in, which bounce if you drop them from the hard chemical layer on the skin.

I agree with you. The fruit and vegetable in the supermarket are not fresh, but its price is also expensive.

I agree with you about the lines at checkout. I also don't like narrow isles and people who stand in the middle of the isle and won't let anyone else go buy. I once had a lady told me that "I can wait". Well, I rammed her cart right through. I don't need someone telling me that I can wait while they take their sweet old time doing what they want. Who do they think they are?

That's really inconvenient to shop in the narrow isles.

The only complaint I have about our local supermarket, is the loud television that always seems to be blasting in the deli. I go there or a cup of coffee and a sandwich, and instead I'm blasted out by the sounds of a football game.

I don't like long lines either. I prefer to go when its not quite so crowded. I also found when I was single that it is hard to find small one person portions. I would buy regular size and end up throwing alot of it away.

I get the impression that some of the men are more interested in shopping for something besides groceries... just paranoid?

I do not know what the common workshifts are in your country. I know that around noon to one pm many people try to shop on their lunch hour. About 3:30-5:30 pm people are getting out of school or off work and the stores are crowded then. The least crowded times I have shopped are around 11:00 pm and 7 am. Mondays seem to be less busy and Wednesdays. I agree, sometimes waiting in line seems to be such a waste.

It seems that the supermarket works longer time in your side. Here usually its working time is 10am--10 or 10:30pm.

When my supermarket is busy, and people have trolley loads of goods at the checkout, I go to the self-service till. There are never many people there. The thing I dislike most at the supermarket is when the product you want is on the top shelf, which is way to high to be stretching, especially for somebody who is older, or disabled in some way. I find it difficult enough to reach the top shelf and sometimes have to ask, and wait for it to be taken down for me. Brightest Blessings.

Thank you for BR my friend. I was looking at some stuff online yesterday, and I saw a grabbing tool, for reaching things that were high. Perhaps the stores would do well to stock a few of those to place at the end of aisles, so that people were able to reach with ease, the goods on the top shelf, instead of having to wait for a member of staff to come along? Just a thought!

My supermarket is okay. What we have maybe your supermarket can get. We have self checkouts. You can check yourself out. There are special registers. They take cash or credit and you can use coupons.Ask your store manager and see if they can get them in your store.

i hate the crowd and the guards checking your belonging thoroughly as you enter the store as if you are some kind of a bombing terrorist. it really irritates me when the guard always put black ink on my lotion and powder just to distinguish them from the items being sold inside. its their SOP but well, it really makes my head boil.

Here the guards won't check our belongings. But I think you have a good point here. It is inconvenient for customers, but I think somewhat it protests all of us.

Never enough check stands open and that new thing (that I refuse to use) where you check yourself out! Pay the high prices and then do the work yourself... not me. IF they want my money they are going to have to do their part!

Hard to believe that you have to pay much more to do it by yourself.

Didn't say you had to pay more to do it yourself. You pay the same high price for the groceries whether you do it yourself or they do it for you. They ring it up and bag it for the same price I pay for me to ring it up myself and bag it myself. I'm not doing their work for them.

i think my biggest complaint about the supermarket is the prices. it is becoming ridiculously expensive to feed the family. it is not like i am buying steaks or anything elaborate...and yet it costs nearly $200 just for stuff like bread, milk, cheese, eggs, butter...

It all goes back to Bush saying to farmers "we'll give you even MORE money to grow corn to make into ethanol"! Did he even think it through...now the ecological system is totally unbalanced as a result, gas prices are through the roof! and everyone except him and those farmers are miserable! Honestly, I think I'm going to alternate eating at the local farmer's homes or Bush's...they're the only ones who can afford food! He should be ashamed--this is what happens when we elect a man with an IQ of 68 - 70!

hi youless. I have some complaints towards the cashiers in some local supermarkets here. the waiting lines are always unbearable. and it seems that the workers are just slow. not to mention some prices are 'unexplainable'. just an example to explain the situation, there is a price IDR 1275 for an item. we are no longer having IDR 25 after inflation and just the smallest 'buck' you can find here is IDR 50. it is the smallest amount of a coin you can find here. and mostly people will also reject the coin. so, there are many supermarkets that would give you change only IDR 700 for that item above. they didn't pay you back the 25, and they round the price from IDR 1275 to IDR 1300. they would never round it down to IDR 1250. what the most outrageous here, some certain ridiculous cashiers would pay you back with 14 coins of IDR 50. when we say we don't want IDR 50 coin, they would say they have no IDR 500 coin nor the IDR 200 coin nor IDR 100 coin. just imagine how the people rant about this. so mostly, if anyone ever found waiting line in supermarket, there was any possibility that the one who got their paying turn were actually paying the cashier back with all IDR 50 coins as much as possible. and the cashier was counting all the coins. and that caused the long waiting line. sometimes when I got mad with the supermarket, I would collect all the IDR 50 coins I got from their change, and even if I bought an item for IDR 1000, I would pay them with those 20 coins of IDR 50 I had collected from their previous change. that's my rant about the local supermarkets here.

hi youless, probably I would prefer using debit card then. but sometimes my purchase is below the minimum limit of using the card. I think it is just the same with credit card?

I hate supermarkets at the weekend, too stressful, so I rather do my shopping in the week, where there are less people! I hate it when they don't open up enough tills and you are expected to stand and wait in long queues when there are so many empty checkouts and they don't have the staff or the common sense to open more!

My only complaint about the super market is the prices. I know that the gasoline prices have driven up the cost of food. But, to this extent? That is why I shop in discounted groceries and the sales in the other stores. I love the 10 for $10 sales.

I hate waiting in line at the checkout, especially when the people infront of you are involved in a lot of gossip and chat rather than packing up their shopping and moving along to let others through

the one thing i hate is when there are more lines of customers who are waiting to pay for their food. there are only 2 people to a register. the rest of the cashiers are on break and not doing their job.
