When you forget something...

Philippines

There are times when you suddenly forget something. For instance, you are suppose to say something but suddenly forget what you were suppose to say. Or, while talking with someone, you suddenly forget a certain word or a very important information that you were suppose to say. Then you simply say, "It's at the tip of my tongue..." What do you do? What do you do to remember what you just have forgotten? There are people who would say, "Try to look at the last thing you were looking at and you might just remember..." or "Try to repeat the statement and you might just remember..." I really do not feel at ease when I can't recall what I was suppose to say and so I do everything possible to remember...

I am plagued with this all of the time. And I really hate it when I am starting a conversation about that thing and as soon as I go to speak the name of it, it escapes me. I sit there and try to remember, sometimes I will snap and it will come to me. I guess its something about that action that jogs the memory. I don't like it when I lose the names of things while talking, or ideas. But it doesn't bother me much. I have a whole family that does the same thing. The only time it bugs us is when we can't recall, even after a few minute. But even then its not such a big deal. Like my grandmother used to say, "If its important, it will come back to you."

Like my grandmother used to say, "If its important, it will come back to you." That is really a good way of looking at it... Thank you for sharing my friend!

Sometimes it happens to me! Worse for me when I'm trying to call a person on the phone, and then when the person is on the line, I totally forgot what I called that person for! That's embarassing! I would just hung up and tell that person that I would call again later. My mom would laugh at me because I also forget things that I want to tell her when I call her up. She keeps telling me that I'm getting old too fast. I would try to think so hard all day and all night about what I wanted to say, and when I finally remember, well, the issue has already passed. Silly me!

I have had the same experience! It's really embarrassing when you call a person (probably disturbing him/her from whatever it is that he/she is doing) to tell him/her something then you end up forgetting what it is you were to say.

I have sometimes like you. When I want to talk an important thing, suddenly I forgot it. That time make me embarrassed. But my country have a idiom that "Think twice before you open your mouth". It mean you should think what you want to say before you say

Even i agree to " think twice before we speak, Be confident and stick to words. If suddenly I forget suddenly then I feel my self in embrassing situations.

I am of the opinion that forgetting something is directly related to your sad and disturbed state of mind . You would not forget to execute an important job and buy up something when you have plenty of peace of mind.

It's usual situation that sometimes make us annoyed. It's happened with me and its hard for me to recall in the middle of discussions. And hated part is you able to remembered it again long after the conversation.

Happens to me all the time. My co-worker and I both have the habit of walking across the office for something and forgetting what is was until we're halfway back to our starting point. We laugh about it all the time. When I can't grasp what word I'm trying to say, I gesture wildly - seems to help..LOL

Ha! I thought that my family was the only people that did that. We do it in the house all the time. I'll be watching TV, and my grandma walks in the kitchen, and just stands there. After a couple of minutes she exclaims "What did I come in here for?!?" Sometime she remembers while standing there, others she has to go back in the bedroom or wherever she initially came from to remember. I can't harp on her, because I do the very same thing sometimes.

I hate it when it happens especially while I am having my lecture. Since I can't waste time waiting for it to come back to me, I try to divert the discussion to something else.

Wow that was happen to me a lot of times, even though here in mylot. All i need is to type my topic and then forget it.There were also times that i'm going to search it and when i will do, i already forget my keywords. When i go out to ask my mother about something, i will also forget. I just let it and don't force my self to remember because after a few minutes i will remember it again.

Sometimes, it really drives me nuts. I get to feel uneasy until I get to remember whatever it is that I forgot especially if it is really important.

I do this all the time. Usually when I am talking with my husband and we are bouncing from subject to subject. I usually just ask him what we were talking about. If that doesn't trigger it I just move on. I know it will come to me sooner or later. It bugs me more when I am trying to think of a word and can't.
