Does a pizza truck ever sell pizzas at apartments in your area? The truck is selling only one kind and is in front of the apartment building. This tells me just how hard pizza places are having because of the economy. They are selling pizza from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
What do you think of this way of selling? Would it work in your area?

pizza places are making the most business here in montreal and no I have never seen a truck actually it is against city bylaws to operating a vending truck in montreal, only certain places get licenses to do that.

The company doing it had to get a special license to sell this way in this area. Licenses are costly as my city isn't exactly business friendly. I have considered moving, as the cities on both sides of me charge less to operate a business. When I moved here the area wasn't this way, but sure wish there had been a way of knowing in advance that businesses would want to leave.
We recently lost K-mart, several computer stores, and many small businesses. Today I went to IHOP and think its in trouble with very few people eating there. Several years ago we lost our large mall when the city next door put up a huge mall.

they would make some mad money in my area if they did.everybody loves pizza.
the closest thing we have is "roach coaches" that sell slices, but not one just for pizza alone.
they go around to the construction sites and shipyards.

Thanks for the reply and I really like your picture. We do have places that sell slices at very high prices. I'm not paying $3.00 to $4.00 for a slice of pizza. I like pizza, but not that much.

That is a bit odd but not a bad idea. I know awhile back a radio station as a hoax was selling food in rush hour traffic from the side of the road. They did good till the police came and said they need a special licence to do that. My nrighborhood doesnt even allow the icecream truck to come thru.

Wow, no ice cream trucks in your area. My street has them on every day and sometimes one right after another will sit on the street. Its really bad on weekends, as I counted 5 last Saturday. Thanks for the reply.

That seems like a god idea to me. Do you mean they are premade, & they keep the pizzas hot in the truck, then go around the streets tying to sell them? We have never had that here. We can get home deliveries of course.
This may be an effective way of selling pizzas, although I would think having two kinds would be a better idea.
How do they go in cost, compared to pick or or deliveries?

They are changing $10.00 for a large pizza and that is a reasonable price for my area. Keep in mind that this area charges a $2.00 fee for delivery. I won't buy it, as don't like pepperoni. The pizzas are already made and the truck is sitting at a large apartment complex, so its a drive for people that live in the area of houses like me. The company is trying to increase sales in the apartment area.
I can understand if they can get more orders from this huge apartment complex, then they would make more money. The concept sounds sound, but the real question will be how long before people want a choice of pizza and decide to just pick up the telephone and order their pizza.

It might work around here. We have a bunch of pizza places, but people are lazy and they like delivery. The advantage here would be to not have to wait the 20 minutes or more for delivery and not pay the delivery fees. I wonder how affordable the pizza is? And how are they making the pizza - in the truck or do they just set out of the pizza shopw ith a bunch of pizzas? This is definitely a small business idea for someone.

I have waited more than an hour when I use to order pizza, so think some people will be happy seeing the truck. I'm glad its not the area with houses, as the ice cream trucks cause children to run out in the street without looking for traffic. I hope nobody gets hurt.

I have never heard of anything like that. Our local pizza hut does have a mobile unit that they take out when the fair is here and they sell pizza at the fairgrounds but I have never seen them take a truck and sell pizza at an apartment building.

The fair does well selling pizza here and have for a long time. I think the problem is being able to get enough people to buy for a long period of time. Thanks for the reply.

Wow, I've never heard of such a thing, I hope they have their health permits. I don't think it would work where I live because we live on a busy street and you can't really stop in front of our building without either getting a ticket or causing an accident. But, I can see it happening up closer to SDSU which is a few miles away. But, they have their own pizza places on campus and I'm sure the police would give them a hard time if they tried to sell up there.

I was so surprised when they put a note on my door. This is the first time, but was wondering if more areas of California are already doing it now. Its the Rusty's Pizza Truck, so I'm sure they would have the right permits. I'll admit if it had been one of the little places, then I would have wondered about permits also.
Thanks for the reply. I can't believe we are ahead of San Diego and was glad you replied. Now I hope San Francisco will post, as they are usually way ahead of us in trying new things.
