What would you do if.....?

I just noticed i had a request from someone to be a friends and as usual the first thing I did was to checkhis profile. It opened to loud music and an alert that my system generated to alert me that this site was connected to a spy site. Now my system is automaically running checks. I beleive it is connected to the site that he is getting his music from. Should I report it to myLot or should accept his friends offer and go back into his profile and send him a message telling him off the problem? If I go back into his profile I will open myself up again to potential spyware trouble. What would you do?

Turn my sound down! haha If you have anti-spyware running then I wouldn't worry too much and accept him as a friend and then message him to advise him of what's happening. Some anti-spyware is a bit over sensative and throws a wobbly at innocent cookies.

Me id just ignore it because well im not so smart with computer stuff and dont really know what that would mean so Id not dare go back to his site. Mabey you could tell him in one of his discussions or a response he makes to you then you dont have to go to his site. Mabey hes reading this discussion.

Thought you may be interested to see what I posted. I did check his site to find a discussion athe alert came up again and it is from his music (Lyrics Download. com). "I am responding to your discussion as a means of contacting you without having to go into your profile. I received a friends request from you and went into your profile to check you out and I immediately got an alert warning me that your profile by using "Lyrics Download .com" for your LOUD music is a threatening website related to spyware. I feel it is only fair to let you know and give you a chance to remove it or I shall have to report you to myLot admin," Minnie What do you think?

That is an excellent idea I have his name so I will respond to one of his discussions and let him know and that way I will not be asking for trouble. Thank You!

I know for me, I would probably not accept his friend's request unless I see that he has started some pretty good discussions. I think you are very admirable for not wanting to get him in trouble wanting to tell him directly instead of reporting him. But, I wonder if he meant to have that music box with the spyware there? For me, because I don't know him, I would wonder that. And, for that, I would probably alert Mylot to it, instead. If they want to deal with it, then it's would be theirs to deal with.

I did not accept his request (better safe than sorry) I probably would not have accepted it anyway as he had hundred of friends and was a teenageager from India so we did not have much, if anything, in common.

Yeah, I had a similar request last night on both here and another site. I have gotten a little pickier about who I accept as friends because I'm tired of seeing discussions on my friends lists that are useless to me.

Made a mistake he is a 23 year old male from the Philippines. I did check his profile again a few minutes ago to answer one of his discussions and let him know of the problem that way. The alert popped up again and it is from his music (Lyrics Download.co m) so now my computer is once again running an automatic scan.

Dont accept hgis friendship offer yet. And yes, report it to My Lot admin. It may be that this person is unaware of the spyware he is generating with his music, but I doubt it. How old is this person, & what other info is on his My Lot site?

He is a 23 year old male from the Philippines and as we have nothing in common I porbably would not have accepted him anyway.

Well, I would not report him to mylot because he may not be aware that this site has spyware on it. I would check my computer security program to make sure my computer would not be damage and I would send a private message letting him know that he is endanger his computer and possibly others when they visit his profile. Now if he knows and is willingly endangering others I would report him.

I did run a scan and everything seems OK. I decided not to accept him only to delete him after sending the message.

Probably like you, I would start a discussion. If he is truly interested in being your friend, he will be following this discussion. I would not worry more than that though.

I would definitely not have risked going back into his profile and infecting my own computer - contacting admin isn't making trouble for him - it is trying to prevent trouble for him and everyone else! Hope you got it all sorted out! xxx

I checked with my bank and all was OK but I did changed my passwords and ran spy and virus scans. Of course I have no idea what, if anything, MyLot did as usual they do not bother to keep you informed.

Hello, Whiteheather. Hmm... So, there are dangerous profiles here at myLot, eh? Are you sure that it was giving out spywares? Because it sounds so strange! Out of the blue, spywares advancing through your computer! You're lucky and smart to have the Anti-Spyware turned on. Since you have it on, why don't you mail the member? You won't be risking yourself, knowing that the Spyware will protect you from anything that tries to damage your computer. Won't it? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

I have had a couple of weird things happen from myLot. A few months back I had a troll who had been stalking me and would go into all my discussions and make nasty and idiotic remarks. Then to my shock I went into a few of my personal online site, including my banking and this person's myLot ID flashed on the screen for just a few second . I did notify myLot and he was removed from myLot and I had to change all my important passwords.

What an awful experience! I'm glad that myLot has serious people working behind their computers, removing every nocive member. And I hope you got rid of him.

i never faced a problem like that, but if i were in your place, i will accept his friend request and then i will send him a message about what happened, if he is not willing to remove the link that makes all the trouble then i realize that he is trying to spy those who view his profile, and then i will report to mylot about everything, spying is stealing someones information (identity theft), so be care full on each of your steps, may be he sent you a friend request in purpose, happy mylotting!!

the truth is that the guy may not even be aware that there is something like that attached to his system ,i think the best you vcan do is advise him on the situation and if you have antispy on your system as you said you do you have no problem in accepting his request you are already protected, goodluck

If it's "trouble" from the get-go.... probably will remain. Good luck, though. Wow, I hope all is ok

It is a confusing problem.I think you can communicate with him through any posts he done here in Mylot. You can add comments or respond to his discussion and include this problem also in your post. Then he can remove the music. After that you can check his profile.

in my opinion, if you able to contact him then you should tell him whats goin on with his profile. perhaps he really doesn't know that this matter happened. but if you don't know how to contact him then it would be better if you refuse his friend request

well as u said it got activated de moment u got connected 2 his profile....well there sould b 2 reasons for dis....de person might hav already got some spyware on his profile activated or he might b de victim of it..as far as i know v cannot send any spywares online...nwayz, its beter u inform de person abt de mishap...if he doesn respond +vely then its well n' gud otherwise inform "MyLot" abt it n' get de profile deactivated...

I'd report it to mylot. I can't see what others have said because I'm answering from my e-mail, but you may have already taken action. I wouldn't contact that person because any further contact between you and him or his profile, might mess up your computer with more spyware. However I'm no expert. : )

it would be nice to tell him that there is something going on. But i wouldnt want to risk that i might have it to but hey you have that spyware software so its your decision if you would want to take the risk or not
