Would you rather quit your job or be fired?

I have never quit..got close to it a few times..but guess for the unemployment, I'd rather be fired even though it does make you feel like you were a bad person.

I think if you worked at a job long enough and you don't agree with how the mgrs. or who ever are doing with the company, then I think you should leave. I think you can still get unemployment if you leave for a good reason. If you get fired, then that is on your record and it will have more questions to be answered.

Icy..a place i worked at were accusing me of things that were lies and it turned out there was jealousy..that person got the manager, super, and me kicked out..so it was very hard to deal with..I got fed up with that type of scene and decided to open my own store and have been happy here for 16 yrs.

I think it may depend on some factors. There are situations where I'd rather quit than get fired. It's easy to tell something when we are not in a situation but it's more difficult if we're really in that kind of scenario. Anyway, good day to you!

Now if i was in the wrong, then yes i would quit but if someone was jealous and wanted me out then I'm staying since i didn't do anything to them and they will have to fire me..I'm not giving anyone a reason but some people can't handle competition and feel threatened....thanks for answering

If I felt a need not to work there anymore, I quit. I've always worked hard and been one of the better employees and don't think I would do anything to get fired. I've done a lot of things that I would have fired someone over. I could care less about the unemployment compensation. If I need one I would have another one in no time. Now I own my own company and do not plan to work for anyone again. This is the 4th or 5th year and it is growing every week.

I have quit a few jobs. I have never been fired though. I wouldn't want that rejection :)

I have quit several positions. There are times when its a good idea to leave. If I can make more money with better hours, then I'm going to take the better position. One job I left was to far away from my home, so had to leave, as gas was being rationed. I couldn't have all of the gas being used just going to work. There had to be enough for emergencies and school. I have never been fired and think it would be terrible. It would be one of the lowest days of my life. My family and friends would have a hard time understanding the situation.

i think i definitely prefer to quit my job and leave the company respectfully rather than being fired... it is so embarrassing and i will feel very terrible if that happens to me... being fired means i had done something really bad to the company that makes it can't forgive my mistakes and have to dismiss me... i will be very upset... so i will definitely prefer to quit first if i have a feeling that i am going to be fired...

I would rather quit my job because I have been fired and it doesn't feel too good.. I was fired bacause the company was downsizing and I was the one that was chosen.. I had 17 years with the company, was indispensible, (according to them), had 4 weeks paid vacation, higher salary, seniority, more sick days than the others and I was the one who got the axe.. I did not like the feeling of being fired especially after being with the company for so long, but as a consolation prize, they went out of business less than six months later.. I am not sure if you have heard of Revco or not, but that is who it was.. I believe they changed hands a couple of times and then were taken over by CVS.. I am not 100% sure that this was the way it turned out but that is what I heard anyway.. So, given the opportunity to do it over, I would look them straight in the eye and say I quit and take my dignity and go home.. Happy posting and Have a good day..
