Just for fun ... what can I do with all this dog hair?

Every time I sweep my floor I collect up loads of dog hair. I'm sure all of us dog owners do. I'm often to be heard moaning that I collect enough that I could easily knit myself a new dog! Now, I don't want a new dog and I can't knit, but .... just for fun .... what else could I do with it? I quite often see birds using it in their nests so it must be warm. Insulation projects come to mind, as to stuffing it into cushions or something. I'm wondering how much it would take to fill my roof cavity! I've heard of people spining dog hair and making yarn with it. I expect you'd need a long haired dog for that. Ever fancied it? Strange question I know, but it's early and my mind is wandering all about this morning!

We had to put my dog down last Summer, but in the summer time I would literally have to sweep the floor 2 times a day to keep the dog hair at bay. And the amount of hair I would pull out of the stairs was incredible. I think the idea of using it for insulation is a pretty clever idea. I think it would work. You should market that.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost your friend, but I certainly agree that the amount of hair they shed is incredible. We cut down a rotten tree last year and found that some sort of big ant had been eating out the centre. The whole core of the tree was full of dog hair that they had dragged in there. Ant insulation!

rotflmao, I hear ya. I have a little Jack Russell that blows her coat twice a year. I am always amazed at how much hair she actually loses, she is to little to have that much! LMAO Make your dog a dog bed.... what better way to comfort her when she sleeps other than her own fur! LMAO Too funny.

I could make each of the pets a bed stuffed with their own fur :-) There shouldn't be any fights then about who gets the best spot. I bet they'd still all head for *my* bed though ...

I had a friend whose grandmother spun yarn out of the rabbits they had, when I was a kid. You could use your dog hair to add texture to paint and redecorate a room.

Rabbit hair I can understand. It's beautifully soft and slightly longer than most dog hair I'd think. I'm learning that lots of people do actually spin dog hair though. I guess I've got enough to do without adding that to my list of acomplishments though! I do like the idea of using it as a texturizer though (if that's a word!). Good idea!
