What did you last bake?

I'm just curious, because I don't get alot of time to bake and this is one of my favourite things to do!
I finally decided the other day to make an Irish sweet bread! cause I got sour cream (which is an ingredient for the recipe) on sale.
But it took me a few days before I finally got the time to make it
.
This always happens to me because work just seems to take over, you know? and it kills me inside little by little because I feel like I am enjoying less and less of the thing I really love to do.
So when was the last time you baked something and what did you bake?

I think it's been a couple of weeks since I've last baked. And, I baked two loaves of home-made bread. That bread you made looks really good, by the way. I haven't baked much before that. I think I made chocolate banana bread around Christmas time. I don't bake all that much because I really don't like to eat grains because they give me a headache. And, for everything else, I use the microwave.

Hi darlene,
I really don't have alot of luck making certain types of homemade bread (like those French loaves! But this one always comes out perfect and thank you!
Since you don't like eating grains much, do you ever make brownies, cookies or cakes at home?
These are some of my favourites and I just saw a discussion about brownies...I think as soon as this bread is gone, brownies with peanut butter chunks are gonna be next. mmm

That type of brownie sounds good. But, no, I don't make any cakes, cookies or brownies at home. Nor do I make muffins and rolls. If I want to eat some of those, I buy a single serving somewhere. That way, I won't be tempted to eat the whole batch!

lol, I got to agree...it is easy to get caught up and wanting to eat the whole batch! But I never manage to do that
. I just remembered, since I'm craving brownies I should just make a flourless chocolate cake. I have a recipe for one that's more like a very rich brownie rather than a smooth chocolate mousse
.
I got to say, I kinda envy that you can make bread easily. I have quite a time when I do try to bake bread...

Hi roxanne, the last thing I baked were chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies - not from scratch though LOL I bought a mix where you just add egg and milk (i think) and mix and voila, ready to serve on a tray and into the oven it goes LOL

A few years back I always used to buy the cake mix in the box and make a cake every other week. Now I actually make my cakes from scratch and have gotten raves from people, so that makes me proud.
I have to admit, cookies were and are somewhat still my falling point and I am still in the learning process of making awesome homemade cookies.
I hope you are enjoying your cookies though!

I have never been a good cook so the mixes suit me fine. Just as well my family are the only ones that eat them though LOL

The last time I baked was last week Wedsday. I made some made from scratch brownies and topped them with a layer of melted marshmallow and then a thick layer of fudge frosting. They turned out so perfect and rich everyone had an aching sweet tooth.

Well, I am at my in-laws house visiting them right now. On Saturday my mother-in-law had over the entire family for dinner since we are in town. I offered to make dessert everyone to pitch in. I made my famous chocolate cheesecake bars for dessert. They are so good and easy to make too! They were a hit and we enjoyed the leftovers the next day.

The last time I baked something was about a week or two ago. I baked a strawberry cake for my hubby and his son. It was the first time I have baked one and it didn't last long. I'm guessing they liked it since it was gone in a matter of two days.

Wow, strawberry cake. Sounds good to me. I would also guess that it disappearing in two days mean they didn't like it but LOVED it! It is so rewarding when other people like the stuff you bake huh?

I made banana bread. Check out my new discussion, as am hoping the bakers will all see it. It sunk in the middle, but still tastes good. I really love to bake.

Hi FishMomma,
I'm not a big fan of banana bread or banana muffins or just bananas...lol. Although I like banana chips
.
I'm gonna to check out your discussion though and maybe see if I can find a solution for you.
I hope you enjoyed your bread alot! Did you put nuts in it? Nuts seem to be popular among baked goods with bananas in there.

Hi Modestah,
Gosh your brownies sound so good. I'm gonna make me a batch but I'm still wondering what type to make. If to make regular brownies, PB ones or blondies
. Are you sharing your brownies in the meantime?

The last thing I baked was a loaf of garlic bread to go along with our spaghetti. You just can't make spaghetti without having garlic bread to go along.
I have not baked a cake or brownies or cookines in probaly a few months I just haven't felt like baking lately.

Hi luvstochat,
You may need to invite me to dinner at your place. I have never had garlic bread with my spaghetti (but then again I make it at home) I just eat my fill of spaghetti and that's it! Bad I know, I should have some salad at least.
I know what you mean by not feeling to bake...
Do you have a nice recipe for breadsticks though? I haven't been able to find one.

I just baked a cake the other day. I'm always hungry for something sweet, and so occasionally I just make a boxed cake mix (chocolate) and make some homemade buttercream frosting. Yum! So when I have a craving for something like that, it's alot cheaper to grab a piece of cake from my own kitchen than to go out and buy a pack of tastycake cupcakes or something like that.

I agree Lisa, it sure is cheaper to make my own at home than to buy in the stores, especially if it's cheesecake! Your cake with buttercream frosting sound delish. I love Buttercream icing.
Hope you are sharing a piece of it with me
and enjoy!

we like to bake here and we do it quite often. I just made a yellow cake with fudge icing a couple of days ago and I will make cookies today or tomorrow. I am trying to start making a lot of our snacks to save money for other things.

Last week I went to Costco - a warehouse club store here in the United States - and I bought a multi-pack of french bread in the freezer section. These french breads are actually made in France and they have no fat and no sugar. That is besides the point. Anyways I baked two of these loaves in the oven and served them with dinner. They were so delicious - I served them with some butter and there were no leftovers. They were so good. There is just something about smelling bread baking in the oven. The whole family was so happy! :D

The last thing that I baked was in the bread maker. Does that count? I made Sour Cream Lemon bread. Other than that I made some peanut butter cookies with homemade toffee in them for the gas station last week. I will be baking some more tomorrow also.

the last thing i baked is chocolate crinkles. :) this was 2 months ago when i still have an oven
my first try was a disaster... the batter was too thin and after baking, it went flat. it was too sweet and too hard also!
my second try, i used a different recipe... perfect! :)

I made Ghiradelli turtle brownie mix. I wanted to make brownies from scratch, but i couldn't find any baking chocolate. my son told me he may have used it all, when he was petsitting for me. The brownies were good regardless.

I baked sugar cookies tonight for my daughter's one club tomorrow. The last thing before tonight was a cheesecake last week. I try to bake at least once a week so we have some goodies around, but it can be hard to find time.
