You know this is really getting beyond ridiculous. And I just got to rant about it. Okay, so many here having been complaining about how star ratings are being dropped and many MyLotters are being affected about it....Well this is a different rant about discussions in general.
To be honest, I just wasn't in the mood to respond to many of my friends discussions here yesterday...ever have one of those days you're just not "with it"--well yesterday was mine. So I keep aside discussions I wanted to respond to and was going to do so today and tonight.
So here I am backtracking discussions that friends of mine have started and proceeded to reply directly from my email by clicking the "respond to this discussion"...so click only to find the discussion has done a disappearing act...OH but it gets better (or worse??)...one of my dear friends was hit real hard by the trolls here it seems...I mean I could understand if one or two of her discussions was zapped..BUT THEY ALL WERE--about ten of them...like WTF??? They were good discussions and as far as I could tell DID NOT violate any rules here...so what the hell is going on here?
I mean now really, don't these trolls have anything better to do with their lives? Hey, listen up trolls...this is a community of people, we make great friends here, love to share our experiences, share news whether good or bad about our lives, share things or events with our friends here...Just why do a select few people have to make it so miserable for us anyway? For those who have nothing better to do than make our lives less fun here and downright miserable I have a few words here...GET A FRIGGIN LIFE ALREADY--go somewhere else and leave the rest of us alone to have fun here

I responded to a couple and they are gone.
It does not really surprise me.
Her big mistake is to ask 12 questions in a row.
When you get 12 notification emails from the same person... it looks like spam... and people get upset. I was very tempted to turn her notification "off" yesterday. At the end I did not because some of the links were interesting.
My suggestion would be that she don't ask more than four questions a day.
Remember... the members might report her... but it is myLot which make the decision to delete the discussion. And as mylot does not have the time to read it all... they simply saw 12 questions and thought "SPAM".
You are lucky you did not answer them.
And as many people here complaint about losing money when questions are deleted... I would suggest to them not to answer questions from a member who send more than 6 questions in a row.

It could be something else to...
Mylot is a business which works very hard to get members here in order to make those members working for mylot.
Each one of her discussion had an outside link to take members away from mylot. Yesterday I had nothing better to do... and I did something I don't usually do... I followed her links... and that took me away from mylot for a couple of hours.
My guess would be that mylot did not like it.
And also... many people would get upset with getting 12 notification emails in a row from the same person... And would retaliate by reporting her and attacking her.

There is a big difference between a reference link to a story... and a link asking you to go and have fun on another website.
Every one of her discussions had a link to a fun website. The link is not highlighted or live in the notification email. You have to copy it and paste it in your browser.
Her discussions were not questions either. She was simply enticing us to go and visit other websites.
I did spend almost an hour on a numerology website she send me to. Now imagine what would happen if we all posted discussions about our favourite website on the internet... There would not be anyone left here.
She broke the rules... guilty as charge... end of story.

Now that doesn't gel here..and yes that is the member and looking on her profile page saw you're on her friends list too..I have friends that start a lot more discussions per day and they don't get zapped--I also got a private email from her and she said someone has been adding vicious tags to her discussions..she definitely is being attacked here, and she may also now be zapped..the "b***ed" word

wow, i can see where the ranting comes from i will do the same for sure. i cant believe such thing is possible i thought the admin have ways to prevent such thing. i honestly feel that is not fair specially if you mention that the OP dont even violate any rules, that is just ridiculous.
i was sad when 2 of my discussion was deleted and i even complain to the admin coz i wan to understand why is that so, i am a newbie (i feel i am) so i dont know much about the going around here.
they replied to me after 2 weeks and was told that i might have violated the guidelines that is why my discussion is deleted BUT goodness if your friend dont violates any why would admin delete it?
i feel that admin should read the discussion before they delete it, i know it is a lot of work but the OP feels the same way when they post it same goes with all the responders and that is just not fair to lose points and earnings because someone is playing a game out here.
i cant figure out how a 10 or so post can be deleted in just a day, is is because it is 1st day of the month and they are trying to do the arrangement of the pay outs? still not fair though.
i really hope that the admin will do something about it and hopefully those people who do stuff like that will do something better than making others sad.

As far as I know my friend didn't violate any rules here so have no idea why the discussions were deleted--they were good discussions too!

that is very strange then, it must be a very active discussion for someone to want it gone.
your friend should contact the admin and try his/her luck of explaining them what happened, i think the admin says there that members here can contact them if they have issues, so far more members are not happy with the admin's response though.
i hope this issue will be answered coz it is not fair.

what you have to remember is that these trolls get off, get their jollies by annoying the hell out of the rest of us. They are the mylot cancer one in three of us will be attacked by them, we just have to work out the ways of fighting back

I think annonymity is what makes them brave, for sure if they had at least to justify their negativity to mylot im sure we would see a lot less of it

Well said, but you've just fed the trolls! They love to get people upset for some reason. The more attention you give them, the better they like it. Isn't there something that the management here can do about it, ban their IP or something?

That explains why all of my posts i was posting tonight first gave me credit then poofed..all that hard work commenting to a discussion and then they are gone..well not as bad as she had it starting them and then finding them gone..

Aww--the trolls around here can do a lot of things..Since I have this friends private email she told me many of her discussions that stayed have vicious tags attached to them...my friend is being under attack by people who have nothing better to do

trolls do what trolls do best they infiltrate a community and they infest them like cockroaches. Their only purpose in life is take something good and destroy it. Here they can use the rating system, in other communities they post hateful discussions.

The same thing happened to me. I have not had time to post much the past few day as I have been busy with a friend from Germany (hadn't seen each other in 30 years). So last night I decided to answer a friend's discussions from my email. The first 2, topic: pets and dogs, both were deleted ...guidelines..blah blah. I PM her and asked if she though it was because no link had been posted to the origin of the articles. Then I checked all her new discussions (she had been busy) I believe there was total of 16 of them had been deleted. Now this is ridiculous because none of the others needed links. This could not be anything to do with the guidelines this had to be deliberate sabotage. This is the kind of thing that really has me questioning the integrity of this site.

Yes a lot of discussions by my friend didn't need links so that's not the reason for them being deleted and yes this is a work of sabotage by people who have nothing better to do with their lives except make trouble for the rest of us trying to have a good time here

Well Pye, I have to admit, I try to avoid discussion that will be eliminated, yet, I went to bed last night over 5000, answered a few this morning before work and ended up with under 5000 reponses this evening.
My time on here is precious so I try to use it wisely ...yet I lose count. I don't know why either. I guess some people are not happy unless they are complaining.
As for my star rating.I don't care, people seem to be using the star as a hostage - well it just ain't worth that much to me and if we all choose to ignore it..maybe the trolls will go away.

I usually avoid discussions that I think might be deleted too, and avoid "heated" discussions as well, but the discussions that were deleted from my friend were nice and innocent ones and didn't violate anything here--it's a shame that there are people here who have nothing else to do with their time than to make trouble for the rest of us

Rant away, pye. Your not the only one pissed about what happened to our dear friend. When I started going thru her recent discussions thru my email, I noticed one by one..all deleted. I thought, one ok..maybe 2 but all of them? And good ones at that! I'm wondering if there are a few mylot guidelines that are unwritten we don't know about cause she was within all the guidelines I read. Guess she wasn't able to read my PM either. Well, I'm sure by now mylot has be deluged by mail from all her friends wondering wtf happened to get her banned.

Now that's odd that she was able to read it but not respond to it. No, I don't have her private email addy. Actually, yours is the only one I have other than dragonryder's. If you want, go ahead and fire it to me. Long as she oks it. I always ask b4 giving out someone's email addy, that's why I said if she ok's it, go ahead. Or you can give her mine. Doesn't matter either way.

Hi pyewacket! I did experience the same thing. I felt a little bad because I post a discussion wherein i just wanted to share my good news with friends here that I reached my goal here. I was so excited and happy and just want friends here to share my happiness but after a few minutes, my discussion was deleted. I was shocked and sad at the same time. I just logged out so I can shake my sadness. However, I did PM one of the old timers here who is a good friend and ask her to shed some light and at the same time, I apologized because I won't be able to respond on her comment on my discussion anymore. Well, she fairly gave me a good idea why and at the same time read the mylot guidelines thoroughly. I guess, I did violate a discussion guideline and I admit my fault but I am just wondering why so many have posted similar discussion yet it was never deleted. I am sorry to learn that another good mylotter has been banned. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

In some ways it really doesn't make sense why certain discussions are deleted..the ones I was referring to were good discussions...yet I've come across discussions that are only one-word ones...and yet they remain..does that make sense????

Yes, that is so true. I have seen good discussions that were deleted and I really kinda puzzled about that. I have come across with discussions that are posted everyday and sometimes the same discussions are being repeated on another day by the same poster but nothing has been done about that. It is really disappointing when you try your best here and others could just get away with anything they want. Seems no fair game to me.

pywacket this is getting to be just awful some of my friends have stopped for awhile now ten discussions in a row thats just ridiculous and why who is doing this and what happened to mylot they told me that they were su re they had found the culprit or culprits yet nothing is being done that I can see. I am still a seven altho i was a six I did gain a point to go to 7 but all the time I had been here before Iwas a ten then in two days Iwas zapped to a six and I complained to mylot and they answered and still it just gets worse.hope your discussion gets through to
these few childish trolls.why are they doing this is it fun to hurt people, I dont understand. I try very hard to be courteus and respect others viewp oints yet when I did a discussion on non smoking I was treated with some very comtemptible remarks. I did nothing to deserve that at all. ten discussions zapped it makes no sense!!!!!!

Hatley I have no idea why some people resort to this rather infantile, childlike behavior. Don't they realize they are hurting the reputation of MyLot itself? A lot of people actually leave because of this kind of behavior some have here.

The Member that you are on about is a newer Member who has done no one any harm and it is obviously all starting to get really bad here again
And again it proves that Mylot is not checking reports or Discussions before they delete them
This Site is getting worse they are just not taking any notice at all here

Not too sure about the deleted discussions, but from the Ozzie guy's response on the previous page, I found out who the victim was. I may need you to pop up & also send a message to admin about those bad tags.
If only Sandy didn't pull that idiotic move back in November - I'd still have the PM's that we exchanged there. it'll probably take reporting by the "Contact Us" link on the bottom of the page for reasons I'm hesitant to mention here.

Yes we both know the member I'm referring to, and she's only been here about two months and you're right she has done no harm to anyone here. Yes the admin should check the discussions they are deleting for it's content rather than taking the word of a few vicious people here

It is sad to say that for some people, fun is the same thing as bullying. I am really surprised that so many discussions are getting deleted. That certainly would cut down on how much choice there is to respond to. I do not check star ratings, and I do have lots of discussions sitting in my e-mail. I hope this gets resolved. Some of my other friends are talking about a friend getting banned as well. I do not know who, yet.

Pye, I sure hope there's room for me in "Rantland"! This is so infuriating I don't know what to say. I love myLot and have so much fun here because I can chat with my friends from all over the world about whatever strikes my fancy. I definitely have the same
"live and let live" philosophy here as I do in my "offline" life. I never report a discussion unless it's downright, without a doubt abusive, obscene or illegal. If someone posts a referral link I give them a polite heads-up about it and let them know they're risking having their post deleted but I don't report it. Basically, if someone doesn't like someone else's discussion WHO'S FORCING THEM TO READ IT? I'd just like to echo what you already said - GO AWAY!!!

I know anniepa, I never report any discussion unless it's downright offensive, flaming, abusive and obviously is against the guidelines...but thankfully I haven't come across many and if I do I move on and won't bother with it....you're right too, no one is forcing anyone to read discussions one doesn't like in the first place so these trolls need to move on and go away

I have my own message board and had a problem with Trolls recently, I haven't seen any over here though. I imagine they get reported and deleted pretty quickly which is probably why. People like that are the bane of the Internet I don't know why they do it, it's really easy to start your own message board anyway they should just make a big message board for themselves and be done with it.

It seems like in this last month it has become really hard at times to be on here, I have been a member for 4 months now I think and when I first joined I loved at how friendly this place was. I had never been on a place that was so comfortable to be on, but now it seems that everything that some people do gets attacked or bad things are said to them or about them and I think that there seems to be at times a real nasty undertone and I just do not get it!!
