I love gardening as well as enjoying them growing more daily and especially picking and eating all the stuff I grow. My wife was funny today. We planted new things in the garden and around the house today. Cukes, tomatoes, zuchinnis, cauliflowers, adn some flower boxes. Well after watering things I looked outside and my wife was just standing at the edge of the garden staring at it and loving the look of all our hard work. Does anyone else in your family love your hard work you put into your gardens and ganrdening in general?

Same here. We have got our small garden out and I see it growing and starting to get some blooms on the tomato plants every day. I can hardly wait to get some fresh tomatoes and green onions, and leaf lettuce. We only live on a 1/4 acre so we do not have much room because our home and garage and swimming pool and trees and landscaping takes up alot of our room. I love our hard work around here. We are getting ready to put a roof on our back deck and do alot of landscaping in my back yard this summer. I want to buy a cedar gazebo soon too. We just finished some of our pool deck recently also.

My green and yellow onions are already poking their
heads out ready for the sun and then me to pick them.
]I live in the city. But my back yard is about twice
the size of a normal city yard. I want a gazeebo also. Doesn't have to be cedar though.

I love your hard work you put into your gardening too Grandpa Bob!
As for my garden, the hubby and I have decided, for sure, to skip the gardening again this year due to the drought. But, when we do garden, we do love it.
My Tiger Lilies have their first bloom. It opened over the weekend. Only one flower opened thus far but, there are a lot of buds waiting to open and, I would almost bet that when I get home from work, there will be one or two more flowers that have opened.
And, my Magnolia tree has tons of flowers just waiting to burst open. So, it is doing really well. My hubby put that tree in about 3 or 4 years ago and it has really taken off!
Anyway, happy gardening! Enjoy those veggies when they are ripe for the picking!

Well thank you very much friend. It's a shame when theirs a drought and a watering ban as well. I have had that experience a couple yeras here. but the watering ban was set to where people with odd numbered address watered on the odd numberd days, and evens on the even days.

My pleasure!
And, as far as our drought, for as long as I have lived in Georgia, 10 years now, we have had watering bans. They used to be certain times of the day. Then they were like yours, even/odd. And, it started that way last spring with the even/odd but, the hubby and I knew that they were going to put us on a 100% total ban at some point last year so, we just didn't bother watering. We literally watered stuff only 2 times last year. And, in a lot of Georgia, they have lifted the ban a little and are allowing evens and odds again but, not in my county. We are still really bad off with our main water source so, we are still under a 100% ban in my county. So, again, the hubby and I just watch others around us break the rules while we try to maintain our drop in the bucket of water conservation.
Hopefully we will get more rain this year than last but, we can't hold our breaths on that hope. LOL!

Looking good!
I think my husband enjoys gardening too and he has some mint he planted, as well as some tree seedlings that he got from the Arbor Day Foundation.
He knows I'm enjoying myself with all my things in containers and sees how excited I get when I see new sprouts, or flowers or whatever, but he pretty much lets me do my thing. He's always right there when I need help moving things or something, though.
I know if we were able to have a 'real' garden he would definitely be working it with me.

Mint is very invasive. We planted a small one now it's taking over the area. But that's good as it is hidden in the back in an area we want the weeds etc gone. So far it's doing the trick. I love picking the mint then drying it out to use in tea.

That's why he put it in a pot instead of in the ground here somewhere. He wants it for tea too. I've never had fresh mint in tea, but I'm game!

You guys are really cute! I like plants in general, but when I tried my hand at gardening a few summers ago, it didn't turn out so well. When I used the right kind of soil, I forgot to add fertilizer. When I had the fertilizer, I ran out of good soil. As you can predict, most of the seeds I planted didn't grow into anything. The only plant that I was able to successfully grow were a bunch of lettuce that tasted so bitter I just fed them to the rabbits. You're lucky to have a green thumb! I have to run to the grocery all the time. :(

Well some people have a green thumb and I am one of them. I do not do much other than plant them and they grow. I do not use fertilizer or food for them. Some coffee grounds around the base of the plants is all the extra I do for mine and they thrive like mad.

My partner and I like to grow our own vegetables and salad stuff where we can. At least if we grow our own food, it tastes so much better and we can always freeze surplus vegetables and save a little money too. We have even planted up vegetables in the flower beds, they look just as good as the flowers and we get to eat the results. LOL

I think it's great to just see things take off, to watch them grow and know that I am the one who put them there, that made it so they would grow. This will be our first year doing a vegetable garden and I can't wait to be able to just go out next to the house and pick stuff for a nice fresh salad. I love to watch the flowers grow and bloom as well. We've been getting some chillier than usual weather, so I'm a little thankful we've been slow in our planting or we would have lost quite a few of our plants due to frost last night.

I wish that I loved gardening, I love pretty plants, trees and flowers but do you know what spoils my wanting to enjoy it and be a gardener? Those rotten horrible bugs. I cannot cope with them at all, I am alright until I see one and I just cannot do anymore.
I am OK with woodlouses, and beetles as long as they are small and in groups of one. But bugs that I do not recognize or spiders and I am off up the path into the house and that is it. But I am going to give it a good go when I have had my garden done in June.

Hey Grandpa Bob. Glad that you add something new to your garden. That means that I have more photos to enjoy in the future. My family doesn't have a garden. But my father planted some flowers in the balcony. They are quite beautiful. My father is quite satisfied with that. When it's new year, he will take the flowers into the living room to decorate it. Really nice.

My husband always tells me what a good job I do on the flower beds. I used to admire my grandmothers garden. My grandmother had the most amazing garden, she grew everything that was able to grow in her area. She was also an amazing cook who really made the best out of her fresh grown vegetables. She used to cook her fresh grown green beans in a way that was out of this world, and rhubarb pie that was amazing. I doubt I will ever again taste such a wonderful rhubarb pie now the my grandmother is gone. I will certainly never forget her wonderful garden though.

My grandma used to loving gardening. I still remembered when I was small and visiting her house. She love to gromw all kind of flowers like rose and daisy etc. She also loved to planted trees like mango trees and guava trees. Of course my brother and I laways waited for the season where we can eat the mangoes and the guavas. Now she cannot do any gardening anymore, too old. She said planting sooth her.

Sure she can. Get her one of those half-barrels and set it where she can easily access it. Fill it with potting soil and she can plant a pepper plant, tomato plant along with a few herbs or carrots/radishes/lettuce.

I do! I just love to look at the garden and watch everything grow! Or even get set to grow.. I have a bench nearby just for gazing at the garden.. which has some perennial areas for asparagus and strawberries. The bench is shaded by a couple of plum trees and grape vines.. I also love to view all the work I put into growing flowers around the place..

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Oh, my husband always love everything that I do especially with the gardening and cooking of course. But the truth is, he is the one who really works hard to have our garden look beautiful. I really don't get it when he admires my work even though sometimes my rose plants are producing small flowers, he would still love it. haha..
Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!
