The Family Fountain Of Youth...

Even though today was a little hectic I still got a really nice surprise. Hubby had to wake me from my nap to sign our recertification papers to renew our lease for another year. So I got the papers signed and walked up to the office. I ended up talking to the manager for a bit and while she was looking at our papers she remarked that I had a birthday coming up next month. She then looked a little surprised and asked me if I was really going to be 40…I told her Yup and she told me I don’t look 40 more like early to mid 30’s. Talk about an ego boost . I think it’s something in the genes on my Mom’s side b/c she doesn’t look her age either. Now she’d kill me if I posted her age here so I won’t do that. Let’s just say I think she looks like she’s in her late 40’s-early 50’s and that’s shaving numerous years off her actual age. The pics I attached are of her and I (she's in her witches costume from last halloween). I saw my sister earlier this year (half sister, different mother-same father) and she is 33. She spends a lot of time in tanning beds and looks about 40 b/c of all the tanning . Do you look younger than you are? Is it a family trait or do you work at it? Do you know ppl that look a lot older then they are? **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

It is lovely isn't it when this happens, I am always delighted at the shock reaction I get when I tell people my age, they can never believe it!! My Mum and Dad do not look their ages either, so I must get it from them, the only thing that I need to mind more is making sure that I keep suntan lotion on my face in summer, to stop that sun drying it up. I have to laugh, when I see people that I used to go drinking with who are the same age as me, especially men they always look about 10years older than they are. A lot of people I know have aged terrible.

It's only good if people are guessing a reasonable age and you're at least 5-10 years older lol!

I am a senior citizen but have been told by a lot of people that I do not look as old as I am even one of my doctors said that last time I was in the hospital. My mom always looked younger that her age while my dad looked even older than he was. I think mymoms and my looks come down from the richey side where they all looked young for their ages and lived to be really old..

Me and little Sis - This is a photo of me and my little sister tooken yesterday.
I am 33 years of age will be 34 on July 5th this year. I have been told on several occasions that I don't look my age but younger. It does make me feel good to get told that. I don't know if it is due to hereditary genes or not, my mom is 61 and when she puts her make on and her teeth in she does seem 10 years younger then without. I will post a pic of me and my little 7 year old sister. I don't feel as though I look to much younger then I am. When I was yonger I was always told I looked older 14 and looked 18.

People used to think my eldest daughter and I were sisters...there's only 17 years between us so I guess that's fair enough. But now, I look heaps older.

I actually think that I look my age. My husband says that I look younger, but I do not think so. I used to work with a girl and I was in my 20's and she was in her lower 30's. She had all gray hair at such a young age. It made her look alot older than what she was. She was a very kind person to me though. I liked her and her family alot. She was the only one in her family that grayed early.

I was asked for ID the last time I went out (to by smokes), and this lady actually knows how old I am! lol. I thought she was pulling my leg, but she said she had to check all the same, as my husband has been the one she normally serves, not me. Oh well, her husband said he already saw mine ages ago and that he was satisfied of my age. My mother (adoptive) is in her mid 50's, but you'd swear she was only in her late 30's!!!! If I could be that lucky!!!!!!!

Hehe.. yes I look much younger. I wish I didn't because I don't think looking younger is necessarily a good thing - unless you are 45 and look 30. I posted in another discussion about not fibbing about my age and stated that it causes a host of problems. Well, it does. I get carded all the time. I actually got carded buying movie tickets once, and the most ridiculous part was that I was treating my brother to a movie. My brother is 11 years younger than me. I got carded and he didn't! I believe I was over 21 at the time, in fact I was probably 26, and he was FIFTEEN! Then there was a horrible day at Target. I was christmas shopping and I had both of my daughters with me. My older daughter had taken off for awhile to go look at things, younger daughter was probably about two at the time. I was down an aisle looking at something and some lady walks over and asks me if my baby is my sister. I told her no, she's my daughter and then she proceeds to tell me she thought I was about fifteen. Then my older daughter comes back and I inform the lady that this one is my daughter too. The lady gets all weird with me, acting like I can't possibly be the age I tell her I am. Then after she has completely infuriated me, she tells me that I should take it as a compliment. COMPLIMENT?? That she thought I was 15? Hello, what 15 year old do you know with a cart full of christmas gifts, two daughters - one a teenager, wedding rings, car keys, and a purse full of things? If this only happened once in awhile I might be understanding, but it happens often, and people get rude about is, as if I'm lying and they know it. I've also received phone calls where someone actually says 'is your mommy home' - not recently but within the last 10 years! When I say sternly 'I AM the mommy', it usually gets greeted by silence!

I always tended to look a bit older then my age, especially when I was younger... which at the time was a bit of a plus, although the first few gray hairs at 25 was a bit disconcerting. Now I guess I just look like any other guy my age. I thought your mom chased dinosaurs in her youth...

I have been lucky cause as far as I can remember I have always looked younger than my age. Of course as a kid that really bugged me as a teen or young adult. My youthful appearance was a result of good genes. My family all looked young for the greater part of their lives.

Good for you, is nice to get compliments like that. Yes some people always look young and it appears that age goes slow with them. I'm in my forties and everyone thinks that I'm the older sister of my sons. It feels good when you still see guys looking at you. I'm always smiling ,so I think this might have something to do with looking younger.

I was told about 5 years ago that I looked 25 and I was 40 at the time. I know my Mom looked younger than what she really was too, so I guess I got it from her and from healthy living..

In my famaily , some of us look our actual age, that would be me. Although alot of people tell me I look younger, I think they are just being nice. But my younger sister Jackie, she is over Fourty and doesn't look to be more then 35. Plus my two oldest sisters, I think both look older then they should. So I am not sure why that is , but our gene pool is all mixed up lmao.
