Ladies, would you care if you were presented a man-made diamond as an engagement ring? Men, would you give a man-made diamond? or do you feel you need to spend alot of money to make everyone feel you aren't cheap?

I don't need an expensive piece of jewelry. Matter of fact, I have an inexpensive piece I choose to wear. Some years ago while at the grocers I caught my ring in the cart and the diamond went flying. I never found it. I felt terrible. I actually have two rings now. Both are inexpensive. Both mean a great deal to me for what they represent, not the cost. Hugs

Rose, if I am going to get presented with a diamond, it had better be a real one. Other wise do not bother. Honestly I would rather have a ruby or a sapphire. But as i said if its going to be diamond make it a real one, or don't bother at all! LMAO... how was your trip to visit the grand babies?

It's not about the money for me, it's the thought that counts. My engagement ring was on sale for around $200 - I loved it because he chose it :)

I don't think that I would. I have only ever given one engagement ring to anyone in my life (she married me) and that contained real diamonds. Unfortunately it got lost and was replaced by an eternity ring that was lost by the reason that I bought the ring when she was a baby. Grrrr. I certainly don't feel the need to spend money not to be seen as cheap. My wedding ring was the grand sum of $22! Cheap perhaps, but it signifies a whole lot of love that is beyond price.

I don't want diamonds of any kind. I really hope I never get a real diamond as a gift. I would have to return it or something. I wouldn't want to take the chance that it is a conflict (blood) diamond. There is really no way for sure that anyone can tell if one is or not.

My engagement ring was low cost and I appreciated it. Many people don't understand that they don't need to have a costly ring to be happy. We have been married a long time.
