The most abundant weed at least in Minnesota is the dandelion. Well being bored today I went outside with my camera. Of the many shots I took was this one. It is a dandelion that has gone to seed. An ugly weed but yet such a beautiful photo I think. Just wanted to share this was all. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

We have several dandelions in our yard. I like them when them come up as a yellow flower but when they get that white cotton ball on them, they are ugly and annoying. I hate it when the seeds and the cotton stuff blows around in the air. It messes with my allergies. They are pretty in some yards that are taken care of though.

I have tons of these ugly flowers (weeds) in my yard. That is when I know it's time to mow again. We went camping last weekend and we mowed prior to going- When we got home--- 1 whole section was filled with these! Ugh! Nice picture--- just not something I like to see in my yard!

I think a big field full of dandelions in early spring is beautiful. Its so pretty to see all the bright green and the bright pretty yellow flowers. Notice I said in a field, I don't want them in my yard, they have a way of spreading and taking over.

I love dandilions. I love them when they are yellow and the yards are full of them. I think they are pretty. I tease my neighbor when he complains about them. I tell him that they are God's flowers because He puts them where he wants them.

They come up wherever the wind blows their seeds. And I also try my best to keep them from my lush green lawn. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I remember as a small child blowing on the white puff and watching it fly away, and my grandmother used to dig the plant up and cook it with some meat and make dandelion greens, they was sure good, I think the meat was ham hocks, or joal bacon, and the flower parts she would wash real good and roll them in flour and fry them, they tasted like a mushroom. We have dandelions in our yard and I was telling my hubby about how she used to cook them and as he is from Louisiana he thought I was making a joke. I sure would like to have some she cooked if she was here, but I will never for get that field full of the while puffs that was fun blowing on.

Well Grandpa Bob when Dandelions are like that we used to blow the fluff off and how many puffs it took to get them off was meant to be the same as the time of day it was - it never really worked though! lol We also used to call them pee the beds as their is a superstition that if you cut them you will pee the bed - my Gran hates that I let my daughter put lasses full of them on the fireplace lol It doesn't seem to work as she never pees the bed after picking them! xxxx

I noticed the abundance when I was there visiting. I decided that Minnesota was environmentally friendly for not poisoning the environment to kill those little yellow flowers. My granddaughter calls them "Yellow Lions". I had considered a discussion about them, and may still do one.

aww..I LOVE dandelions, and love to watch them when they are at that phase like in your photo...and watch them "float" scattering their seeds..my great-grandmother who was really into herbal cures and remedies swore by dandelion root tea...also known as "Piss in bed" ..LOL...it's a diuretic and cleanses the body out..uh, by peeing a lot..LOL

They're very ugly when you have a beautiful lawn that took years and years of hard work and daily hard work to look so lush and beautiful. Thanks bunches I love taking photos. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I ADORE dandelions!! After almost 30 years in the southwest, missing all the flowers and wildlife from the midwest, I'm so happy to see dandelions and other "weeds" that I'm just ecstatic about them. Everything that grows in my yard is nourished and encouraged. I don't mow the dandelions if I can help it and when they go to seed, I pick them and wish on them as I blow the seed into the breeze. Breezes!!! We never had them in Arizona, the air is so still and hot. Dandelions are NOT ugly. Go live in the desert for a few years and you'll come back a changed and more appreciative person.

They are ugly when in a yard of lush green grass. In a field or a lawn that's not maintained they are beautiful is all. This is how a homeowner that takes very good care of their lawn here in Minnesota looks at them. I like them fine as long as there are not too many in my yard. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I have never ever seen a dandelion turn to the beautiful colour as shown in your photograph. You must have some very interesting flower behaviour in Minnesota. I know a person who thinks all weeds are as beautiful as flowers and other plants. He doesn't understand why we consider them weeds and cut them down or rip them out or poison them.

Oh my gosh. I proved my theory that I am an idiot. I didn't see the picture under your post. I think I'm brain damaged or something weird goes on in my brain. (I know it does) I hope that no one sees this comment and decides never to communicate with me again because I'm clueless. On a side note, I am lovable. I think.

I know Dandelion is suppose to be a weed, but i love them because they remind me of children playing in the field on a summer day. My daughters used to bring me dandelions when they were small then cry because when they got them to me all that was left was the stems. I would put them in water and sit them on the table and tell them how pretty they were. They would be happy and go back out to play.

Indeed a great photo. Dandelions are a pain - especially when the kids bring them in the house and then blow them! Here in the UK we get a lot of wild flowers (weeds really) which just appear in the grass - buttercups, dandelions, little white flowers ? and lots of people delay mowing their grass so they can enjoy the sight. The buttercups are my favourite. violetdreams

You know I was actually thinking of taking a picture of dandelions today.. We've got quite a crop of them this year.. Even though I mowed just the other day, they're all back up, and are the puffy white bulbs millions of 'em, and I thought they looked kind of pretty.. But then I thought, naaa, if you post that, people will think you're crazy! But, wow!! Your photo is awesome!! Looks like stars..

I have to agree that many of the weed that grow in the yard are beautiful and this picture is very nice. Let my grandsons near it and they would delight in blowing the seeds to scatter them as far as they would go!!

hi GrandpaBob i think its a great photo too. amazing that such simple things can often be the most beautiful to photograph. One poster thinks the weed oxalis is really pretty and after looking at apatch in my infamous weed garden she is right. I also have a bunch of what my mom used to call Moses In a Boat, this has a bright blue flower in a sort of cup shaped leaves and seems more like weed as its taken over a lotof my ground here. Yet it is kind of pretty. I dont think dandelions are pretty however, unless one could say pretty persistant when you try to get rid of them.

That's a lovely photo. Dandelion clocks are terribly photogenic! I love to blow the seeds off with the kids, but I don't get many that get the chance to go to seed as I pull them up for the rabbits as soon as they are big enough.
