I have been considering doing some bartering to receive goods for goods I already grow. Do you do any bartering of services or goods? Craigslist has had a huge increase of ads to barter. In fact, the chief executive officer has there are double the posts from a year ago. I think we will continue to see more people use this trading method. One man in San Francisco is offering to paint for groceries. If I lived closer, then sure would talk with me to help him out now. I clip coupons and can find great deals and need to have some painting done now.

I have been going to pow wows and thee are many trades going on. I traded many of my crafts for things that I can use in putting together more crafts. One of the very interesting things that happens at the pow wows that I have been going to is the "Trade blanket". This is where if it is your turn, you put something on the blanket and everyone else will (if they want your item) put something on the blanket to trade, If there is nothing of worth you can either say "No trade" or "Sweeten the pot" which means that if any one really wants it then they have to put in more to get your item, When the deal is finished, the items are exchanged and the people shake hands and say "Good deal". Depending on the pow wow, you might not even have to have any negative blood in you and the things on the blanket might not have to be native.

This sounds like an excellent way to trade goods. I'm looking for a local place that is looking for pond plants, as need some painting and benches built this year. Thanks for the reply.

The trade blankets could be a way to do that also, it does not have to be an item that is put on the blanket but can be a service such as yours or something that needs to be built. Check out some of the pow wows around you and go from there, if nothing else you will make new friends and might find other avenues to do your bartering.

Thank you going to check into it. One of my friends mentioned they have them in their city this morning. She is about a 40 minute drive; however, this could indeed be a money saver. Gas is high in this area; however, I'm looking to have quite a few in the future, as expanding my plant business.

This is the first year I have ever had to think of other ways to make a living. I know that I'm doing more writing and thinking about each post. This means I'm answering less posts, but making a longer more detailed reply. Thanks and yes people will have to work together to survive.

I think that is a great solution. I don't have anything to barter with, but that would be a wonderful way to utilize what you have to the best of your abilities. I think it it becoming more common to do so, and it's quite a good idea with the slowness of our economy.
