I love all my plants, flowers, shrubbery etc a lot. I love sharing it with myLot friends and members as well. I also enjoy seeing others as they walk by enjoying the beauty and color of all my hard landscaping work. My son mangaes a car wash as his job and he asked the other day if I had some plants etc to donate to the car wash. Well he came by today (Thursday) early for breakfast etc. I dug up a lot and filled his car with them as this photo shows. I gave, Irises, Hostas, Astllibe, Lilies, and ferns and some ornamental grass. I explained things as far as how to transplant and what should be placed where as far as how they spread and how tall etc etc. Now we shall see if he also has the green thumb gene I have. My wife told him she wants a photo of it online tonight as well. I will enjoy driving by the car wash in the future seeing my plants growing there. Have you ever donated or helped landscape a local busines at all? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Yeah you're right on the button there girl. Hahaha! I hope Nate has a green thumb like me though as I gave him a LOT of my plants. He did start to ask about using my garden tools but he smiled then stopped himself short saying, "Yeah right. Never mind dad." I laughed so hard smiling as well. The ferns more than likely won't do anything this year. Ours didn't the first year either so wait ans dee next year. I run mine over with the lawnmower and they sprout back up in a weeks time. HAHAHA! [b]HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~[b]

Yeah and you said that about the raspberry plants I planted last year and didn't do anything. They aren't doing anything now either. Why is it every time I buy red raspberries from the garden center, they never grow for me? I need to find someone with these plants and see if I can snag a couple of them. Least then I know they are indeed alive when I get them.

I have donated plants. One of the churches wanted help and other businesses turned them down. The economy is bad, so many places are struggling to pay their bills. I felt that helping them would really make me feel good and it sure did make me happy. I didn't think about getting a picture and wish that I had one. They are to far away to just drive there with the high price of gas. I'm hoping gas goes down in the future, so I can go get a picture. I'm looking forward to seeing a picture. I know it will look good, as I'm sure your son will want to tell everyone Dad provided all these beautiful plants.

Well that was great of you to help the church out. I would also love to do something like that for my city. the car wash is about 10 miles from me or maybe more. But I take my car there so I will see it if he doesn't post a photo on his mySpace page. Knowing my son he will state only thet he planted them. he is that type. Unless asked he won't offer info as to where he got the plants. Hell he may even charge the woner knowing my son. I would be so ticked off if he does that. Anyhow..... HAHAHAHA! No business would want anything I tried to grow. I have a "black thumb" as my husband says. I can kill almost anything. I remember when I worked at the eye doctor my boss was really mad one day cause "us girls" had let his rubber plant die. I had to admit I had not watered it once in the years I worked there. I thought it was artificial since they kept referring to it as "rubber plant".

You seem to be just like my daughter. She kills things as well. But some things are doing okay for her this time around. Too funny about the "rubber" tree. Thanks for a laugh today. [b]HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~[b]

Could you have fitted any more plants in the car AGB! lol Good for you and I expect that everyone at the car wash will be over the moon! I would love to say I had done something like this but don't you remember whereas you have the green thumb I have the brown variety - you know the one that kills off any plants! xxx

There was plenty room left as well as more plants. But I want to see what he does first. In a sense I don't really expect him to plant them. Sad but thats how he is. We'll see. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM AGB !!~

Can't say that I have ever donated or helped landscape a local business and I think it is great what you have done for your son and is business. I think it is wonderful that you son thought to do this and will be a great thing for his customers to see and I don't care how good a business looks plants always make them feel and look better. Can't wait to see the picture of his work and hope he also has a green thumb like you do or you will be going to the car wash often to take care of them. That was a great thing you did Grandpa.

I thought about planting them and tending to them. But as it is not my place i would ask for compensation and I doubt the owner would pay me. besides I'd probably ask too much anyhow. But I will see them soon. I will be taking my car there for a good washing and detailing by my son. For free of course. Other than a tip that is. [b]HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~[b]

Good job! I'm sure all of you will get some satisfaction from seeing the plants at the car wash. I've never donated any plants to a business, but I did offer some daylilies on freecycle when I lived in MN, and one woman was happy to come by and we had a nice chat while we dug them up. I also offered up manure from our six horses, and a man that lived up the road was only too happy to come get some on a regular basis for his newly established worm farm/business.

It's all a matter of hit and miss till you get it right I think. I have always been lucky with plants. Garden centers tell me to have my soil tested before planting things but they thrive so well I don't think I need a test done. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No I haven't but I admire what you have done. My friend has an awesome green thumb and she rents plants to local businesses. They choose what they want and she sets up the plants and cares for them twice a week and then changes them with the seasons. She gets paid quite well for it. Maybe it's something you could look in to. Sounds like you'd be a natural.

That was a very nice thing for you to do for your son. I hope he plants them right and they continue to live too. I know you must feel really proud to be so good at your gardening. I know your wife must be proud of you also for making such a beautiful yard for her to enjoy. I love flowers, evergreens and things like that too. We have been working on our yard for about ten years now and it is finally coming together also. WE are trying to make our back yard a paradise over the years. We enjoy spending time at home and enjoying the hard work we have done too.

No, I have not but then I have never been asked too. Plus I do not have anything I do that might be helpful to a business. But I just wanted to say that what you did is so nice and I think it was a lovely thing to do. It will be lovely for you to go past and know that they are your plants!

I used to grow fuschias and grew some from seed, and then donated those seedlings to our local Fuschia Society but have never donated to a local business. Reading your discussion made me remember when I had complained about my husband never bringing me fresh flowers. He left and came back with a wheelbarrow full of white daisies . they were so pretty and in huge clumps so I had just the right places to put them in my own garden. these had come from my mom's garden. we used to trade plants like that all the time and we both had really colorful gardens from the results.

How sweet of him. I am thinking of buying one of those cheap plastic wheelbarrows just to use as planter in my front lawn. I think that would add a lot to my yard. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

It's great that you were able to help your son out by donating. I hope he carries your green thumb. I'm they will look great and make the car wash look great too. I can't say that I have ever done anything like that. But then I haven't been growing anything other than the veggie garden. But we'll see what next year brings.

I have never donated or helped landscape a local business. I am waiting for someone to landscape our yard when we finish our basement. However if any business wants to come and get some of our rose business that is almost blocking our front door, they are glad to do so. The last time I donated any plants was when I gave our neighbors some raspberry plants and those we got from another neighbor.
