Why do some people award best responses so quickly?

I notice some people here who award a best response to their discussion sometimes within an hour of starting the discussion. What could be the reason for doing this? I tended to wait too long to award mine and I suppose that annoys some people. But I want to at least wait a few days to see what kind of responses I get. I know that not everyone is online at the same time as I am and I want to hear from everyone. What could be the reason for people awarding BR right away? Could they be: *only awarding close friends so they give it to the first of their friends to respond? *disinterested in the whole process so they do it right away just to get it over with and not have to think about it? *be obsessed with keeping their unresolved discussions file empty? What are your thoughts on this? When do you award your BR? Do you have a system?

I too am one who waits a long time and then can't make up my mind which response is best so I give everyone a plus and hope they forgive me. It's hard to give BR's when most of the replies are the same. What do you do then? Does this help earn more for the person you choose? I know some people will always give BR to their friends. I wish they would get rid of the BR. I see no need for it. I got a response today on an old discussion. You never know when someone may drop in here at Mylot and give a better response than the one you were hasty about giving.

I agree with you!!! I had that happen to me just a couple of days ago! I had just given out a best response to a discussion when an hour later, I actually got the best response! I wish I had waited just a little longer. I gave that person a positive, but that's all I could do.

Well I do not give best respone right away I usually await a few days sometims longer than that, it depends on how many responses I am getting. I really do not have a clue why some people givebest respones right away, maybe they just do not want to respond back to all of the people.

I can only guess some people award a best response quickly because they don't want to forget to do it later or a particular response sticks out as being outstanding. If I wait too long, I totally forget to go back. My new system works well. What I have done is make a list with the discussion title and leave it alone for a few days. Once it's checked off, I know the best response has been awarded. Because I don't start that many discussions this works real well for me. I would like to think that most people don't just award the same friends with the best response over and over again. I really don't follow it that closely.

I can't speak for other but if i ever award my best response quickly it's because i think the discussion i've started won't be that popular and there are not likely to be that many more responses, or i' worried i will forget to award it at all! I never gvie it to the first friend that responds or just to keep my unresolved discussions file empty!

Thanks for the response, hezoid. That is an interesting thought. So, you are a conscientious type who worries they will forget to award it at all. I'm happy to have you as a friend.

I do have a system, I wait until the discussion loses the interest of people and there are no more responses. Then I go and re-read each and every post and make my decision as to who should get the best response. That is the least I can do in order to show my appreciation to those who made the effort to respond to my discussion. Cheers!!

I think the FAQ says to wait at least one week before awarding a best response so I try to do that unless there is still interest in something I've posted. I can't read people's minds but the other day I responded to a discussion about either politics or religion (I forget which) where most of the posters were disagreeing with the views of the person who started the discussion. As soon as someone posted agreeing with him the Best Response mark appeared next to his name. I thought that was way too obvious but I guess only those who agree with him are worthy of his Best Responses.

I have not got a system, but two weeks seems a good length of time before awarding a best response. I try, at any rate, to be sure to get it done before the end of the month, just in case best responses help with payout. When I was new on myLot, at least one person said that you ALWAYS give Best Response to your first response because that is the response that justifies your discussion as a discussion.I do not agree with that, but apparantly some do.

I had not thought of it being possible that a best response could help someone with payout. I will give more thought towards getting it done before the end of the month. Thanks Gerty. You are always giving me something to think about.

I wait at least 4 days before I make my mind. First, it has to be the best respond, second, I want to give others a chance to respond....

I have a lot of discussion not marked yet, I just have few discussion resolved, If I would do that I'll wait at least 3 days before marking best response. I'll give the best response to whom post well and I admired his post not to relative or friends.

I usually completely forget to give anyone best response and rarely check to see if I got any. I don't really know why that is? I have wondered this too when people do it immediately, but sometimes the first few answers will be the best, especially if the rest of the answers seem to just be repeating the others. Usually it takes a discussion like this to remind me to go do mine :)

I like towait at least a week or two to give people a chance to respond first before I choose the best response. after all a discussion should be used to discuss, right and it takes a few people at least to have any kind of discussion about most anything.I try to have at least ten answers or more before I think of making best response myself.

I guess they just want the best answer to an discussion. With me, I will just award the best response when I feel that someone had it right on the money!

I usually wait but sometimes one is so good, right away, you can't help but give it, but it's true, we should wait.

If you have not started this discussion, I wont even know the best responses things. Thank you. Some people may be: onlyawarding close frends. And some may not know these things, just as me. I totally stand for that the things you do. Do you know what I mean? If I start a discussion, I will also wait for a few days to see what responses I will get. I wont give my awards irreponsible.

Maybe they are too excited over the response get after they post their discussion. Also, they are really satisfied with what they have. They don't exactly mind about other upcoming responses and regard those who response earlier would have the chance to get best response. They want to save time by having mark the best response earlier..;)

i think it is to mantain a good relationship with their friends... i know of some who mark the best response on their referrals... just so they will have more money... even if the response is not the best...

Maybe they have read the answer which they are looking for. I hope they do read all of the responses before concluding that the first one is the best. God bless us

I guess I just never start a discussion where I am 'looking for' an answer. That's kinda what I like about myLot.... you never know what you are going to get.

I have only been here a few weeks. I have not given best response on all my threads, and it depends on the responses if I give to the first, or wait. If I get a lot of responses right away I will read them all over before deciding. If my post generates only one or two responses, I may wait a bit longer just to see if anyone else will respond. I have, on occasion given BR even if I have just one response, if I really like what the person has to say.

hi there, maybe they found the answer, if they were asking a question. There are some mylotters who give best response as an exchange like " if you give me best response in ur discussion i will give it in my discussion" These type of things destroy the quality and standard of mylot. there are other things too..many ppl give br to their referrals to keep them interested here which is again wrong..
