Goodbye my Country

Once upon a time it was common for people who committed crimes against public decency or were anti the government of the day to go into exile in another country. Just for fun, imagine for a minute that was to be your fate for the next five years. You have to change your name, occupation and country. Where would you go, what would you call yourself and what job do you fancy?

I would chose to be re-located to a small island off the coast of Scotland. I'd use my sisters first name and my maiden name. I would be a writer or a tree, depending on what mood took me. I was talking to someone not long ago and we think the criminals who were deported seem to have ended up with the best deal.

Is Scotland another country Nanna. I suppose that it is. But some would say that it is a point stretched. If you were a tree first you could cut yourself down, turn into paper and the have something to write on! I agree with you and your friend.

Now that is interesting..Hmm.what or whom shal I become and what should I do..feel a little like undercover James Bond. Hehehe! Okay, If I was exiled from my country I would have to go somewhere that would have English spoken otherwise I would be in for it cause I don't pick up languages easily or remember them I would hate to be calling person a name or say something bad, Thought of Spain,Italy or even France but those places have amzing foods and wouldn't help my waistline any with all that fabulas foods. Maybe Mexico or Canada? I would assume the name of Betty Boop and live as a Chef(since that is only thing I am really good at..)But a job that I would fancy would be a photographer. What about you? What would you do or whom would you become.

Actually, I wouldn't want to leave this country, I know a lot of people think England's going down the pan but it's really not that bad. If I HAD to change and choose, I'd possibly go to Mauritius, it looks so peaceful and beautiful. I would change my name to errrrm..........hmmm, maybe I'd be Dory Panda (as that's obviously not my real name) or maybe Titania Solstace. I'd love to work as a holistic therapist or anything where I can help people in an unconventional way. Or, maybe I'd be called Miranda Lighting and live in New York, then I'd be some high flying working girl........no, not THAT type of working girl, I mean like errrm, you know the people who run a bank, not the bank manager, the one that's higher up than that. :)

I would go to Canada. As I have a plethora of Internet pseudonyms already, I could just pick one of them. Or I might choose a different one. I quite like the idea of being called Casey Stud or Rain Waters. What would I do for a job? Well, I heard there is a pub for sale in Canada! I could run that and maybe do some writing as well. Or, maybe I could bag myself a Mountie while I spend time convalescing at a snowy ranch while working on a plot to overthrow the government who had forced me into exile.

LOL. If you want to write a book you could do a lot worse than use your final sentence as inspiration. See you at the pub!

good day.. such as the price of patriotism but you don't have to leave your country unless you really have to. I know when a country is submerged in corruption and the air that the masses breathe is choked with deceit and contempt for justice and truth, Yes, I think it is time to leave. Leave to fight in a ground where truth and clamor for justice and freedom can be heard. Is there such a place? where only freedom and justice tribe?

Er right. Thank you. I am not sure that you have understood the discussion. It is a purely hypothetical notion that anyone should have to leave. But 400 years ago it was a popular means of absenting oneself from difficult circumstances. Enforced at times too.

Pikey, I would change my name to Marie Laveau, and move to Australia. I would buy a small piece of land with a very humble home, I would not need much. I think I would take up midwifery, candle making and very fancy doll making :))) My dolls would be embellished very special properties, people would come to see me from miles around to buy my special little dolls and ask of me my services... yes I can see it all happening now :)))

Well, I'd come to England, of course. Right now, I'd settle for working for Starbucks, because I'd love a good cup of coffee and I think they've already put it up in the lobby where I am. LOL. And finally, I'd still call myself Katherine, because I like who I am and besides how else would Jake and Maddie find me? No one would ever think of looking for me in a coffee shop. Tee hee!

Interesting discussion. I think if this fate were ever to befall me I would head down to Grand Cayman in the British West Indies where I would buy a boat and take unsuspecting tourists out to the middle of the Caribbean Sea and let them snorkel around the various coral reefs. I would call myself Calypso...lol

change my name to Patricia DeVere and go live in the wilds of Scotland where all my forbears came from. I would work in a library shelving books as I have done for 23 years and in my off time would write my novel,or finish writing the one I have half done. would enjoy being in Scotland.

i would go to Australia or England. Those would be my first places because I think they would be beautiful to see and travel about. If I were in dire need of a job, then China or India. I could teach English in China and I am pretty sure I could pass the telemarketing school India has. Since Ever time I call an 800 number for assistance I get someone in India, this would probably my best bet.
@p1kef1sh (45681)

Very true about India. But there is huge competition for those jobs apparently.
