Family Picture

My sister's idea for my dad's birthday was to get a family picture taken. It had been ten years since our last family portrait, and since then my sister has gotten married. I hate getting my picture taken, absolutely hate it, but it was for my dad, so of course I did it. We had it done, and it didn't turn out so bad. It was my parents, my sister and I, and her husband. I was glad to get Jeff (her husband) into the picture because he is such a special part of our lives now too. Of course my sister called around and found a place not so expensive. And she and my mom split the price with me chipping in as much as I could afford, which was only a little. : ( When was the last time you had your family picture taken professionally? Or maybe just your own picture taken? I don't mean like on a disposable camera, but say even a school picture. I remember having to get my school picture taken almost every year when I was younger.

I have never done a family picture ever. Now my kids have theres done every year for school. I have a nice camera and take many of my own pictures so dont really need to have professionals do them its just to much money. As for myself I did some modeling so I have many professional photos of myself once even my hubby asked the photographer to take our pic together as a gift for me (he hates his photo taken).

So you're nice, you're funny, you have a family, you have Grandpa Bob, AND you're pretty enough to be a model? Umm, I don't think we should like you anymore.

My husband, mom, and I had our picture taken a couple of years ago for the church directory. We bought a couple of pictures too. They weren't all that great. The photographer must not have been very good. I look fat in it, lol.

I told the photographer that she needed to figure out a way to make my arm (the one seen in that particular picture) slimmer. I mean c'mon people, help a girl out!

Really! As much as they charge for those things they should make us look like a supermodel.

I haven't had a family picture done in about 20 years, neither my son or I enjoy having our pictures taken.

I don't care for having my picture taken either. We just had a family picture taken at my cousins wedding since we were all dressed up and all there we had the photographer take it. It came out pretty well. Not sure on the price of it. I had my kids picture taken for a mothers day gift and I wanted to go to walmart but hubby wanted to go to ole mills and we paid for it to it came up to be over $200 and we didn't have many pictures to give out either but they did do a really great job. I said next year we will take their pictures again but we are going to go get the special from walmart so we can give more pictures out and pay alot less.

It can get ridiculously expensive for getting pictures taken.

That was nice of you to agree to it. I bet it made your dads day. The last portraiture picture I had taken was a passport sized photo for my uni id card. Oh, and I was hoping to get my passport renewed with one of the remaining pics, but no, I don't have the right ID, and can't get it either! (stubborn mule of a mother I have!).

I find getting the passport thing is somewhat like getting a tooth pulled. And I don't have the stubborn mother, you do. So it must be ten times more difficult for you.

I almost made myself sick thinking about getting my picture taken. Three biopsies no problem, but getting my picture taken sends me running in circles.

I don't think we've ever had a family picture taken professionally. The last time I had a professional picture of me, I was at college and had it done for my student card. It's still my favourite picture of me! I've got some nice professional photos of my kids. The last one of them together is from last year as a school photo package. My youngest son loves having his picture taken so we have more nice ones of him because my older son isn't keen on having his picture taken.

We have had pictures taken around Christmas for the last two years. We didn't the year before that, because I was almost 8 months pregnant, and didn't want to, but we did the year before, too. We're going to get family pictures taken sometime next month probably. My husband will be deployed at Christmas, so we are going to try to go ahead and get pictures done before he leaves.

I sure hope you get to. It might help you get through the time he is gone, although I imagine that is tougher than I can even imagine.

What a lovely gift idea! I'm sure the gift will be much appreciated. We haven't had a good family portrait taken in ages. My spouse is a good photographer, but hasn't even taken our photograph recently. He knows all about cameras, but has yet to turn one on us! How funny is that! Anyway, perhaps I will get a camera and take one myself.

The last time my siblings and I did a family photo was about 15 years ago. I got my picture taken with my son once when he was about 11 months old. I have never had a family picture with both of my kids. I do not like to be in front of the camera, so I avoid it as much as possible.

It was my mother, really, that had us all taking our pictures. There's one family portrait that's practically a standard in our family. Everybody in there, including mom, who passsed away before anybody else. Every year we bring it out and marvel at how we looked and what we were doing and what happened after and so forth. Family pictures are good things to have since they bring back so many memories. Years from now you'd be glad you made them.

I have never had a professional photo taken of our family - and the last photo with me in it was at my daughter's wedding over two years ago. I get very depressed when I see pictures of myself, and avoid it at all costs!

Hi AmbiePam, I hate to get my picture taken also. They usually turn out ok. That is nice you and your family had family pictures taken. It has been over 5 years for my family. My daughter will be graduating from high school next year. I had better hop to it.

Last family picture that was taken but not with all the kids though because of spatting was 11 years ago. I am the one who paid for it because I felt we should keep up photos of the family to have and show the others. We have been recently talking of getting one done for Christmas It will take some doing but those that live out of the state still might be in it. I have a brother in Colorado, brother and 2 sisters in Ohio. but we rarely talk much. But it has always been my moms dream to get all 9 of her kids picture tooken with her and my step-dad.

Pictures of me on a disposable camera never turn out well. It is time for us to update our church picture, if we ever get a chance for time off together when the people are doing it. Bob and I do have a picture that was taken of us together about a year and a half ago. Maybe this fall we will do it again. It is nice to hear how much you like Jeff, as well.

The last professionally posed photo I had taken was for a four generation portrait which turned out to be a really nice picture but as I am estranged from my family it is now in a closet replaced by a photo of my trustworthy 3 dogs!

It's been years since I have gotten to take my picture with my children, about four years when my son got married. But they all got together a year ago though and got theirs done together with all their kids and gave it to me for Christmas.....I cried for 15 minutes as I didn't know they were doing it.

That's a nice gift to give your father for his birthday. It's not been ten years since I've had a professional picture done with my daughters but it probably has been about three or four. I do have a good friend that is a professional photographer and he did take a few pics with me and my grand daughter when she was born. I like my digital camera because I'm always snapping pictures of her. Pictures are nice because they hold lots of memories for us.

It is totally worth doing this for father. And it is a sweet memory for a family. Since I went into uinversity we took the family picture every new year day. our last family picture was my wedding in 2007, after that we came to America.
