You blistered? I have, once. I was 13 at the time and my parents had taken me abroad for the first time. I have never really been a sunworshipper and spent much of that holiday sitting under a parasol. My Dad laughed at me and said that I should sit in the sun for a while, so I did. Result was I ended up with sunstroke and huge blisters on both of my shoulders, cheers Dad! My skin is so fair that even though I was only out in it about an hour, an hour was enough. It was so painful, and when they popped, it was AGONY! What is the worst that you have been sunburned? Have you ever fallen asleep in the sun? Have you ever had sunstroke?

thees a slight hint of french in my bloodstream.. shhh we dont talk about it.. but it allows me to tan rather nicely without burning even tho i use olive oil while baking. which aint bad for a fair skinned celt. only time ive ever burned bad was when i did fall asleep on the beach and laid there for like 5 hours. id curled up fetal and only got burned on one shoulder and part of my stomach LOL but it did blister fairly good, was fine after about 2-3 days. havent ever had heatstroke tho thank goodness

I have been burnt so many times and had sunstroke, heatstroke and even been admitted to hospital my burns were so bad! I do have very pale skin that just does not tan and I burn very easily - I have also had to have quite a few small growths removed but luckily so far none have been malignant! xxx

I blistered terribly too when I went to Ibiza, abroad for the first time, when I was about 18 and I have always covered up ever since. I don't think I have ever suffered sunstroke though thankfully. Ellie :D

I have not had sunstroke. But once when I was 12 I ahd a blistered sunburn when we went to DisneyWorld for the day, but forgot sinscreen. I was sick in bed, in pain and vomited all the way back north to NY state! (Sun poisoning.) Soak in a cool bath wiht baking powder in ti. get uder the sheets a few days wiht nothing on , so the skin can heal and get good air flow, and keeo the burn soft with aloe vera, so it will not peel off horribly! That IS a bummer! Hope this helps!

Poor babies! I had no idea sun stroke could be that bad. I grew up in the sunny land, so we always knew to stay out of the sun. Thanks for the tips on dealing with sunburn. Usually we don't go out until after five or six PM when the sun starts to set. It's very cool, but still bright. Best to both of you. Be well.

I have had all these happen to me. When I was a young girl we had a centennial celebration at a big park here in our city. We had to stand in line for ever for breakfast. I fainted. I was pretty embarrassed. Then when I was a teen my mother told me that the lactic acid in tea would help me to tan. So, I brewed some tea and went out to lay in the sun. I really did not mean to be out long. I ended up falling asleep and was out there about four hours. When I woke up my skin was tight and I hurt. When I went inside the house I noticed I was beet red all over. Thankfully my mom had just the thing to help this as well. Vinegar. I slept weird for about a week and a half and smelled like vinegar for what seemed like forever.

Alright. So when I was in 12th grade, I fell asleep outside on a cool spring cloudy day. Shirt off, on my back. Did I mention I was supposed to be home "sick"? So, I fall asleep for who knows how long. I wake up and for the rest of the afternoon, it wasn't such an issue. But that night my chest and face REALLY start to burn, and burn. It was like a completely delayed reaction. My entire chest was bright red and I was in some real pain. Of course my mother knew I had not been in my bed all day, as had been instructed that morning. That's not the end of the story. Next day at school, everyone, EVERYONE said I looked ridiculous. Like a lobster. People were calling me lobster face all day. My body was burning. My shirt was hot if you put your hand on my chest. Of course, if you did that, I would have had to pop you in the nose since I was in absolute agony. That night was a Friday. I went out on a date, and had to bail half way through. I was nauseous. I didn't know why, but I felt sick. When I got home, I started having the chills, big time. My body was almost convulsing at one point. I finally vomited sometime in the middle of the night. I was an absolute mess. I realized at that point I had really done some damage to myself. 2 days later, my entire chest, and I mean ENTIRE chest started to peel in one large, almost complete sheet of skin. It came off in just about 3 huge pieces. I still have them to this day. I am kidding of course. But the seriousness of that event still sits with me to this day. That's not to say that I haven't burned myself since. I have. Just not to that extreme, thank God.

WHAT are you like, that will teach you! The chills and sickness was sunstroke and you are lucky that you were not really really a lot worse,, but thanks for sharing!!

I have had a really bad sunbun that blistered and it hurt really bad. I had gone to the lake for the first time one summer and went swimming with a friend we weren't going to be there very long but ended up being there for hours and not putting on any sunscreen. I have never hurt that bad before in my life!

Water is the worst for attracting the sun to our skin, but it does really hurt that blistering thing!

Hi gemini, yes once. I was at a party all the night and a following day I wanted to enjoy the sun in the beach so I gone to the beach. I was tired and fallen asleep in the sun. The result was I had been sunburned. All my back was red and with blisters and the pain...OMG I can't remember this. I needed to stay at home for a week because I can't wear clothes and when something touched my back it was an agony. I have a fair and sensible skin so never more I made this madness.

I have always had the type skin that tanned instead of sunburnned, so I have been lucky and kept a pretty good tan.. Although the first time that we went on vacation, I did stay out too long and it was my first day being out in that much sun, so I did get a blister and didn't know it until I took my shower that night.. It was on my chest area near my right shoulder and I was just washing along when I did scrub that area with the washcloth and tore the complete blister off.. It hurt like h*ll and I still have the scar from it..

I too was around 13. I went to a camp for a weekend with some friends and forgot sun screen. I always burn badly, and that weekend was just awful! The blisters were quite painful. To this day I still have a tan on the areas that were burned, which is mostly my back. That area is also covered in many freckles which were not there before the burn.

I always worry about the freckles that appear, I always regret being such a little sun worshipper, I could end up paying for it in the long term.

Yes, but i am opposite to you. i am a boy, and have a white skin, it is so white that i could not stand for it. it never could be gray or black even though i hope so. i spent a long time under the sun, and taking nothing T shirt playing basket ball under the sun. however wether i spend how long under it, my skin is till to red not black, and turn to the white soon(only one day). So it is very pity

Yes. My husband and I went to Florida. I love the sun and I also like to have a dark tan. I really have to work to get the tan that I think I should have though. I already had a base tan before we went there, but I stayed in the sun all day long there. I was fine and knew I got some sun. I did the same thing the very next day and I finally blistered from it. I have fallen alseep in the sun but not for very long. I don't think I have ever had sun stroke, but I do know I have been very close to it.

A few times when I was young. With the sun always shining so brigntly, with the sea beckoning all the time, I would spend hours and hours of fun only to spend days in pain from the sunburn.

I have not been sunburned before. I can sit in the sun and get dark with no problem. I have been told that I could get sunburned but have not been burned by the sun yet. I know that it didn't feel good at all. I have see people that have been burned an it doesn't look all that nice.

I remember when I was 14 my sister had taken me and her younger daughter to the beach at the ocean for the day. I played and then decieded to lay down on my stomach on the blanket and I fell asleep. My sister woke me up an hour later and said that I should turn over and lay on my back so I did and I was cooked by the time that night came. I couldn't even lay down it hurt so bad. She applied aloe vera in thick sheets to my whole upper body arms, shoulders, back and face. I was crying so bad she was ready to take me to the hospital for my skin was blistered bad but I told her no not to just get a cold stuff for it. She got a couple big beach towls wet them with cold water and I had to lay on a plastic mat with one wet cold towel under me and one the same on top. Yes it is extremely painful and I'm fair skined to so it got me good.

Yes, many times when I was little. I don't remember my age at that time but I was happening many times. I got sun burned because I like to swim in the afternoon when the sun was so high above. I don't like to use sunblock when I was little because it feels sticky. I also live in a tropical country so it is hot and I sweat a lot so I don't like that sunblock. When I was little, there was no sunblock that doesn't feel sticky, not like now. Sometimes, when I got it so bad, I couldn't sleep on my back because it was very hurtful.

I have fallen asleep in the sun while tanning...trust me...it is so much better to have the blisters on your shoulders and on your butt.
