Hi guys, please beware of some scam survey sites. we had a bill for 120$ in our telephone bill. When we checked each and everyone, we came to know, most of it were survey sites, and even before I enrolled in those programmes, some one has misused my phone number and charged it. So be careful while taking a survey. Don't ever give your phone number to anybody. Also don't give your address and SSN to anybody.

I do not understand how filling out a survey can cost you 120 dollars on your phone bill. Can you please explain? I fill out surveys all the time and have not had any problems. The sites I go to are reputable sites.

It is an old ploy, in the bottom there is fine print that says if you submit the number you agree to change phone service to their company.

This is a nice warning. I used to give my address and phone numbers to those surveys. Luckily, this does not happen to me right now and I hope it will not. Hey, did you file a complaints to the site yet? I think you can do that if you can identify what is the site.

Thanks for the warning. Also, one has to be careful about giving their Paypal address to any site and don't use the same password for Paypal that you use on other sites. I think I've only given out my phone number to a few people online whom I have wanted to have a business relationship with. I have a couple of survey sites that I have given my phone number to, but I've never had any problem. I don't know how they can charge your phone line unless they break into it.

Thanks for the warning. I have joined a few survey sites. None of them have asked for my Social Security number or my phone number. That is awful that they charged you so much. That is terrible.

I never give my real phone number. My husband used to work for the phone company and he gave me a number to use. It is one where thereis always a busy signal, they use it to test things. But it is good only locally, so unless youblive near me I can not share it. I also already know never to give my SS# to anyone. I use my work address if I need an address.

Seems your connection is a dial-up, and those sites included a dialer that changed your phone settings and called abroad. Better have a good antivirus or antispyware that can recognise dialers. Too good you found out on time, it could bring a much higher bill

Gosh that is scary stuff, I will certainly be careful about giving my phone number out to these places. Basically we cannot trust anyone really.
