A Very Enjoyable Night Out... Again!

Barbecue Fire - A barbecue fire. Richard has two of these!

Tonight... I was torn. Richard had invited me to his Birthday barbecue as he does every year, and it was also my Mum's Birthday today. So, as promised, I phoned my Mum and explained and she said it was fine if I didn't go, because lots of family members were going to be there. So, I headed off to the pub to meet up with others, and off we went to Richard's barbecue. I love his barbecues. The food is always great, the entertainment good and the way he sets things up is oh, so pagan. Richard himself hasn't really found his path yet, and is often asking me questions related to this. He was born into the Roman Catholic faith but he doesn't really follow it, as is the case with a lot of us. We arrive at his house, and it's still quite lot, so we're greeted, grab a drink and find a seat. Richard's garden is almost circular in design and he has a circle of torches around the lawn, with some of the trees interspersed with white fairylights, and two wrought iron fireholders in the centre. There is a wooden, giant jenga game in the garden, as well as the barbecue, which is situated at the bottom end. Tonight, I counted around fifty people, comprising family, friends and employees of Richard's. We were there for about forty five minutes, when the band started. Richard's son plays rhythm guitar in a band, and they played a number of good old rock songs. People were dancing on the lawn, and grandma was getting right into it! He normally has a friend singing too, a guitarist and singer who sings my favourite "The Calling" song. He was there but didn't sing tonight, so on the way out, I told him I looked forward to him singing next year, to which he agreed. It was a great evening... I met up with peeps I hadn't seen for a year, peeps I hadn't seen for several years and some I see almost every day. The evening was enjoyed by all, and the band went down exceptionally well, but it couldn't end without a hitch!!! Richard has crispy steak and lamb skewers for breakfast as he forgot to check the barbecue before it decided to go up in flames! ha ha ha. No worries... he knows a man who does!!! I'm home earlier than usual, but still tired, as any enjoyable evening tires me. Now, I have next weekend to look forward to in the Lammas Festival at Eastbourne. I just hope the weather holds. What have you been up to this evening, or even this weekend? I'd like to share with you all... I love Summer and the open air amusement. How about you?

Oh yummy... that sounds so good to me. I love tropical fruits, and coconut, I'll die for. I had one given to me a couple of weeks ago, which somebody had won at a Summer Fair. I really enjoyed that... fresh is best! The Lammas Festival is this weekend and I'm planning to go with a Mylot friend who lives quite close to where I do. It will be my first time at this one, but it looks such fun on the videos and in the pictures, that I'm sure we're going to have a great time! I've found a video here, from last year's event, if you'd like to watch it. The giants are the Lord and the Lady, having a great time, I might add. I love Hunter's Moon Morris side... they're my favourite. They put a lot of energy and cheer into their dancing which I really enjoy. Anyway, here's the link for the video... I'll report on my day after the weekend.

Trust Gissi! He waters everybody else's plants on the way to the gardens, so I guess it's only right that he water yours too! Do you have to have Windows Vista to have a Vista messenger?

I think you would have loved it Gabs. The little lights which were threaded through the tree branches made it quite like Faerieland! Gissi would have enjoyed it too, because Richard has two dogs who were playing in the garden during the evening. They're not too big either, and attracted much attention and food from people! lol. It's good to hear you're able to walk around the field again, and how nice of Jo! I did mention to you about having two pots of lavender out there if I recall, and how strange that she should have a similar thought! Brightest Blessings, love and hugggggs. xxx

That sounds like a load of fun!!!! Last weekend we went to Cumberland Falls here in KY with my sister and her hubby. They have a camper and we just basically chilled in front of the camper most of the time. We did walk down around the falls and go hiking too :) And before we left the last day my sister and I rode horses. Had a great time!

Well, we had another working weekend! We had a pile of laundry, the OTHER roomie just piles our stuff up to get it out of her way. We hung all the clothes that needed to be hung up. I was sorting the pile - "play" clothes here, sheets here, throw a shirt at the roomie to hang, towels here, winter clothes here, throw another shirt, put this in the goodwill pile, throw another shirt.... After the hanging stuff was done, I sent the roomie into her room with the basket of "play" clothes to put away since last weekend she spent empting drawers for them in her dresser. I got the bin for the winter clothes and packed as much as I could in there and then started on folding sheets. She came in and got a mattress pad and bottom sheet and changed my bed. Then she came back in and we went thru some stuff we had shoved in bags a few weeks ago. We sorted them, and put more stuff in for goodwill. She's got a clean bed, I just need to track down a top sheet and my bed is ready. We took 2 big trash bags of clothes and sheets and stuff to goodwill and some laundry baskets, that much more out of our house. I need to get to work on the curtains for the room so the roomie can work in there once she is sent home based.

Wow... a very productive weekend, my friend. It sounds as though you got a lot done, and that you had fun doing so, even if it was a chore. I feel guilty having relaxed at a barbecue for the evening now! Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution, my friend. xx

Don't feel guilty, if we had kept up with the housework, we wouldn't be playing catch up now! The OTHER roomie doesn't think we are doing enough, but her contribution is putting her stuff in our way!

Well, true, but your roomie could help out a little instead of obstructing you. Ok, the guilt feeling has stopped, my friend.

Yes, it's always a great evening and I shall keep attending until the time comes for me to slow down. Richard enjoyed it very much as well, which is the main thing. After all... it was his Birthday! He was very proud of his son, and the band he plays in. What is it with us and knees, my friend? We seem always to be resting them, in order that we can have a few weeks pain free! lol. It won't be too long before your Summer starts to arrive now. Meanwhile, I hope the days stay nice for you. Brightest Blessings to you and yours, my dear friend. xxx

Hi Darkwing! Oh, what a lovely garden Richard he has and what a wonderful party that must be! I love parties like that when you see smiles all around you and everyone is having a great time. I had a beautiful evening too with two friends of ours who came by last night. We were just having coffee until the wee hours of the morning, chatting and just trying to catch up with lost time. I am so happy that they dropped by. However, we are not enjoying the weather here at the moment because we have rains now almost all the time. Take care and God Bless!

Yes, he certainly has a beautiful garden... courtesy of his partner, Jill, who's an expert in landscape gardening. The smiles and reminiscing were fun too, not to mention the dancing and jollity radiating around the place. It's nice when friends drop by for the evening too, huh? You sound as though you had a very relaxed evening, despite the weather. Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. xx

Besides a new pastor at our church, and time spent in Sunday School with friends, we ate well, but quickly and went to a nearby lake. It is good to get some kinks out of our old joints, and sit in the sun, and swim, look at gulls and terns. Nice drive back and good supper as well. I cut hubby's hair. He has to keep it neat for his new job. He got a little too much sun, but will be better tomorrow, and we will start some home projects. Have a wonderful rest.

No, it kind of cuts down the number of things you can do when it's so hot, my dear friend. You'll do fine sticking with the pool, by the sounds of it. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution. xx

He does ask questions of me sometimes, but Richard isn't really on any path wittingly. He just likes to know what I'm all about, as he believes in something other than the religion into which he was born, but then he's quite confused as to what that is. He believes in the Energies and the Elements, but he yet has to discover exactly what their importance is. I found it quite strange that he has a circle of torches around his garden every single year, and the two fire burners in the centre. He likes the fires to be blazing too. He has apple and pear trees in his garden, and a quite big oak near the bottom, under which he had placed a table last night... guess where I sat? lol. There was a slight, cooler breeze here... Mother Nature's respite, methinks. Some of the trees were laced with tiny, white fairylights, which gave the garden an even more magickal feel. It was a lovely evening, right down to the food and entertainment, and of course, the company. Brightest Blessings, my friend, and thank you for your contribution. xxx

That sounds like a wonderful evening Darkwing. Good food and drink and best of all great company. My wife and I took a drive up to Stonehenge and then cut across the Plain back to Salisbury via the Wylye Valley. She's in bed and I shall be there in about two minutes! Night night.

Oh, I love Stonehenge. I always feel so at peace there. You are so lucky to live closeby. Still, I can't grumble, for I live in a wonderful part of England to, even though I suffer from wanderlust every now and again. I'm glad you enjoyed your evening, as did I. Nite nite, my friend. Sleep well and sweet dreams.

Darkwing,,it sounds wonderful and wish i had something like that happening tonight but alas i'm here on the computer after working today and soon will go and do laundry. I wish i had a Lammas festival to go to but hardly anyone here in my town that would know what that means so will celebrate on my own. Summer here is way to hot and am anxious for Samhain! Have fun and Huggs

Awwwwww... poor you! I wish you had something like Richard's barbecue happening too. It was great fun. As for the Lammas festival... paganism seems to be becoming better tolerated here nowadays, as more and more people are coming to understand what paganism is really about. I'm fairly certain there will be more than just pagans at the festival... I wish you could join in but it's rather a long journey, my friend. Brightest Blessings. x

That does sound like a really good night, especially with the band. The last bbq I went to was on a beach with me and three of our friends, nothing fabulous and the one before that was at my boyfriends house and was rather boring as there were not many younger people there and my boyfriend refused to sit with his family, who were with the older people as he does not get along with some of them. I am just not here this evening, so nothing too eventful and this weekend I have been working most of the time. I saw my boyfriend for an hour, because I went down his house to wake him up so he wasn't late for work.

A beach barbecue sounds wonderful, but alas, we could never really plan one here, without some sort of cover, because our weather is so inclement. I would love to have one though. Brightest Blessings and thank you for your contribution.

Hi DarkWing, I am glad you enjoyed yourself at the barbecure party, it always nice when the weather is good, did you danced? bet you did. Yes I hope the summer will last long then normal, we need it. I went to my nephew's barbecue two weeks ago but it was so windy in the end we all went indoors, then the other day my neighbour decided to have a little get together with all the neighbours at her home and it went very well as we all know each other and we didn't have far to go home so we stayed a bit late. That was nice. Eastbourne would be nice. Bright Blessings Tamara

Well, Tommy was rather drunk! He's a friend from the local pub, who came to live locally, from Liverpool, his home town. He came and asked me to dance, but I just didn't have the energy... the weather was quite heavy today and I couldn't quite snap out of the coma I was in, but I managed to get to the barbie and enjoy the evening. That's the main thing! You seem to be enjoying your summer evenings as well my friend. May there be many more of them. You're welcome to join me, and perhaps our mutual friend, in the trip to Eastbourne, if you wish. Brightest Blessings. xx
