How do you force yourself to do something?

Philippines

I feel lazy today.. I have many things to do.. But I dont feel like doing them.. What I have always believed is, in order to do something, there must be driving force that overcomes a resistance. I have lost all my driving force.. All I got is resistance to do what I have to do.. Just by looking at my study table, I already feel tired.. they are so many that I cant even start one. It's normal to feel this way right? But how do you overcome laziness? How do you force yourself to do something?

..yeah.. i feel that too.. what i do is, I try to focus my mind to my work.. The moment I wake up, I try to get myself ready for my work for the whole day.. and I try to persuade myself to be happy and interested in my job.. I tell myself that today, I must have finish something so that at the end of the day, I could say that i have accomplished my job.. its really hard to force yourself to work especially if your mind doesn't cooperate.. so try to exercise your mind to have focus the moment you wake up in the morning.. set your goal for the day..

I get the lazys all the time! I usually just force myself to get up and start whatever I have to do. I try to tell myself that the more I get done, the less work their will be. Sometimes I take a shower to refresh myself and drink a cup of coffee to give me some energy. Take care!

Writing down goals - and three ways to reach them or sometime 3 benefits to me if I reach them - setting a time to have it done by - rewarding myself. Often setting a timer and jst starting to get a task done for 5 minutes helps. Finding a buddy to do it with me or declaring that I am going to do it so I have some accountability. Most of all I look for ways to make it a habit - attach it to an activity I already do - just do it a bit more than currently - choose to do it different instead of the way I do it now.

I think, first of all you need to prioritise your tasks and then go one by one. Try finishing one task at a time. When we keep on piling tasks, it becomes a problem. I try not to keep anything pending with me, I try to dispose it off, at the earliest possible. Laziness is state of mind, if you can tell your mind that - "I have to finish this task", your mind will think in the positive direction and will tell you the ways to accomplish the tast. What happens is we sometimes listen to our heart, instead of our mind and that makes the tasks pending before us, because heart is not as practical as is our 'mind'.

Hi! Yes it is normal and you cannot force yourself. That will make it even worse (in my case, lol) You should just try not to think so much and you will be less tired. I have noticed by doing sports regularly,or going swimming I am not lazy as much. It is like I have more energy and don't even think about what I must do, I just do it. So maybe that will help you too. Take care, Margajoe.

hi purple. when i feel lazy i don't force myself to do anything, i just let others do it. it really is effective and it works well for me. go try it and be surprised. lol! just kidding. i suggest that you take time off from your usual routine. try to go for a walk before diving in to your tasks. you can try to write down the tasks you need to accomplish for the day and just pick two or three menial tasks that you can start without much effort. once, you get going, everything will fall into place and before you know it, you've accomplished a lot during the day. if this doesn't work, do the first option i told you to do. lol!

This is what most employers turn down young job-seeker as i know, is their attitude, their laziness. Sorry to say this, but that only came in to my mind, when somebody didn't get the job. Maybe she is too young, or still single. I am telling you this, and i want to be an example, why can't i be lazy and and force myself to work. It is all about my family, my kids. They are the ones who forced me to do this, to do that. Of course it's not "go daddy go, you should work, go". I thought nothing will happen to my family if i have that attitude. That is my driving force, poverty and my family. KEEP SMILING = NEIL

Feeling tired about doing one thing or the other is something that is common to all human beign but there are ways you can deal with this and still acheive so many of your daily to do. Bellow are some guides to how to tackle this problem First, you have to plan your day, that is you have to have the list of what you want to do per day. Second; Arrange your daily to do list in order of priorities. Lastly; try to get started and before you know it, you have got so many thing done and also try to read more of time management books.

I am also lazy creature because I am a moody person. Usually I don't do something just because I am not in a mood to do so or I just feel that I don't want to. But when I have to do something important, I tell myself that I have to do it and I should start doing it now. I think of happy things about it. For example, I have to finished this term paper but I am not in a good mood. I just think that if I finished it on time, I will receive a good grade. Or if I have to clean my room and feel lazy, I just think that if I am done, I feel better because it smells clean, looks clean, and I can even invite my friends inside to spend time with me.

Force yourself is a great work for everyone . There are a lot of thing that we don't want to do but we can refuse to do ,we have no choice. So to force yourself become a work that we often have to do . Sometimes i am also a lazy girl,my father ask me to do a lot of things that i don't want to do .But at last i will tell me to finish it,when i meet these problems i will told me that onec i force myself there maybe means one day i will success

yeah ,I am lazy as well as any other nomal people! but when i make my ming to do sth ,firstly i should overcome my laziness.in my mind ,the best way to solve it ,you may wonder,is to ask some of your friends to supervise you. It is common that you do not ever want you your friends laugh at you when you change you mind and give up your work ! do you think so ?

Usually when that happens, and nothing is really urgent (thuogh there are many things to be done); I'd just laze . I know in that state of mind, I can't do anything well; so might as well not start; if not, I might have to redo certain tasks that I didn't do properly. And usually this mood would pass in a day or two. If those jobs can wait, well, take a break!

We live in a busy world and sometimes things get stacked up that need to get done. I think that when I have a bunch of things that need to be completed, the easiest thing is to just start somewhere. Maybe it's a corner with old magazines. If you really aren't going to use them again, read them, give them away, take them to the nearest recycle bin in your neighborhood. If the thought of spending an hour cleaning a room depresses you, spend 15 minutes straightening up something, then spend 15 minutes doing something you want. Every time you get up, take something to the kitchen like dirty dishes, bedroom like toys, clean clothes, washer as you pick up dirty clothes, etc. At least things get done a little at a time. As you move around the house, you aren't walking by something that needs to be put somewhere that you were going anyway. I found that I hated cleaning house on the weekends, I wanted time to relax and enjoy my family too. I would clean one room a night really well during the week and pick up through the week. That way it didn't feel like all I did was work and clean house.

Some times i do. There are many things meaningful that we are reluctant to do because of laziness. If you drive yourself to do them several times, you will find they are easy things and be accustomed to do it. And you needn't to drive yourself to do it later.
