Dont crave for recognition....

This world is full of selfish people. They seldom praise anybody without selfish motives. They may praise you today because you are in power, but no sooner than you are powerless, they will forget your achievement and will start finding faults in you. Why do you wish to kill yourself in striving for their recognition? Their recognition is not worth the aggravation. Do your duties ethically and sincerely and leave the rest to God.

Indeed the world seems to be getting darker by the minute and the selfish people just keeps on multiplying. I agree its no use to crave recognition of other people because if they don't like you then they simply wouldn't do something to make you feel good. But in every darkness there is a light (or at least we try to find one) and sometimes you'll get the recognition that you are looking for in the most unexpected places. I guess in the end people crave recognition so that either to know that they are alive or to be able to be close to someone and belong somewhere.

well, its a reality that its also our need as hmans to be recognized but if sometimes people cant recognize us, it must not something that hinders us from always doing our best in everything that we do.

Very Good point made! You are right we should not be too bothered about fake and inflated appreciation. The one who is appreciating us, occasionally may have some selfish or ulterior motive. But I believe, those who apprecaite you regularly may be doing it genuniely. It is a universal truth that everyone wants to be appreciated by others. You or I cannot appreciate ourselves, and even if we do so, we would not feel so happy in comparison to the fact when the other fellows appreciate us. I agree with you that without bothering about appreciation, we should discharge our duties honestly and sincerily and I always do like it. Good Post!

I suppose the most important thing is to have your self-worth derived from who you are in Christ. As a child of God, instead of having to crave the approval of the world, whom as you rightly pointed out is fickle and have the wrong priorities. I guess everyone loves to be affirmed and encouraged, and we have a part to play in encouraging others as well. But when it comes to recognition in terms of promotions or awards sometimes it's important to remember that even if we get those for working as unto the Lord and doing a very good job, that is not the end all and not the primary motivation for working.

Yes, I agree with you. There are lots of selfish people in the world. They make shallow praises to people who are in power just to be benefited from it at the end. Or else, they pretend to treat others kindly with the motive to earn recognition and fame for the act. Ridiculous, right? But in fairness to people who are sincerely good in nature and in deed, they have my salutation. We all owe them our respect and admiration. There are still many of them in the world. For all of us who want this world a nicer place to live, let's be genuinely kind, respectful and loving to one another. Happy posting!

Well i Won,t Say That i Fully Agree With u. Well i am a Half Self-Centered Person. But i Don,t Betray AnyOne or make them feel bad. But i Speak The Truth no matter it be good or bad. Nor i Care If AnyOne will Remember my Achievement or Recognise For it. Nor i Care If Anyone Starts Finding Faults in it.

i agree with you. instead of earning recognition from people in this world, crave for recognition up there in heaven. however, people of today is really being blinded by the accolades and the promotion of this world. even me, i sometimes wanted recognition. who does not want to be recognize anyways? but christians as we are, we should long for that recognition above. but what could we do? there are more non christians than us that sometimes our light were being overshadowed by them. and we, or i, would compromise at times.. hmm, it is hard though.. it is something for me to really put to the cross.. hmmm

Im giving you the best response my friend. Of course being recognized is really something that could somehow erase all the pains in the body for trying so hard, sweet words could somehow make us forget what we have gone through in achieving the ends. Lets just do our best and let God do the reconizing. Have a nice day and take care!

I think this applies to some politicians and big business bosses who give and seek false gratitude and praise. They need to understand that recognition has to be earned and it should come with genuine respect for a person's achievements. It is not just something to be expected. I think praise and gratitude has the greatest value when it's unexpected and not asked for. It always means so much more to me because I never expect it or require it.

I couldn't agree with you more. It seems that everyone wants to get noticed these days. I think that some of that is because people are lonely and that's sad, but sometimes it's because people are selfish, and that's sad, too.

Sometimes, theres a point that we want to be recognized but of course its also a realization that we can do our best even if we get recognized or not as long as we have done our part. The recognition is only the bonus part of doing our best and would also be pleasing if others could recognize and appreaciate.

In my own opinion it is very nice for me if it is my family member that would certainly recognize of the things I do in this life especially that I am doing the rest for the good of them like I go out of the Country to earn good amount of money to save and buy those good things that they need in life so for my family circle is the best recognition that I will have in this world, I do not mind other people if they will not recognized me........

This is so true. I have found that troubles will always show who the true friends are. If our faith is in God and not in man we will be wiser. Some people worship other people and we should never worship ourselves.

Selfish people have always been around but I wonder if in these later years it is even more prevelant? The bible does say that in the last days people will be lovers of themselves. From my observations of life thus far I feel like this is true. What do you think?

During my grade school days i always want to be recognized by our teacher. I liked raising up my hands when my teacher called for us to memorize some poems in front of my classmates. I want to be always in rank with honor student and I always tried my best to get the first rank but i did not. Even to the point am joining the singing contest when i was grade 4 just to get the rank i like to be in but i failed. Yes, its true my dear ate hazel, that when your are in power today praise awaits on you but when you no power, they no longer praise you.. hehehe just like what happen to me in my grade school, when i got the 4 ranked, I noticed that my teachers favor not on me anymore and that caused me just a slight pain lang.. heheh anyway am still young that time. My attention focused on games not on study anymore that's why. But i have not experienced they find faults on me. In fact am the one finding faults on them.. hehehe my teacher should forgive me on this, because i used to reason my parents my teacher's faults why am not having good grades. They not teaching well., Anyways that was past already.. Maybe all of us wants to be recognized. I hope this recognition would be from up above. Because its worth to be recognized by HIM... God bless us all!

Hi Zelmarq! I agree with that. I just hope that people will just do their duties ethically and sincerely and let God reign in their hearts and life so they won't get lost along the way. I can see much of those kind of people in our government who will kill and get killed for their greed for power, fame and money. Sigh! I just wish that they have just offered their lives for the sake of goodness! Take care and God Bless!

Nice words. And these words are always true. You don't really have to prove yourself to others. You just need to prove yourself to yourself. Have a nice day!
