I have lots of grapes this year. Beautiful dark purple seedless grapes. I think they have so much more flavor than the ones in the store. We had Concord grapes when I was a very young child. Do you grow grapes? This is the first that mine have produced so heavily, is it an extra good year, do you suppose?

I bet there are other things that you do grow because it is tropical. You are right, some fruits and flowers have to have some cold weather. Here it is the tropical fruit that gets to be the most expensive.

Fresh seedless grapes do sound good. I just have vegies growing and some rasberries, the rasberried didn't do so good this year, they are still getting established.

I do not have much experience with raspberries. I would love to though. I think we may order some blueberry plants. The catalog says we can grow them here.

I do not grow them at this house, But at our last house we had them growing all around the dog kennels. We had several types but the Ruby Reds were the best we had.

It seems to take a long time to get grapes established well. I felt very lucky this year. I hope you can grow some yummy things where you are now.

Those grapes look so refreshing and delicious, GG, that I would love to have some. I love grapes of all kinds but they are so expensive in the stores now. I remember when my grandmother had a small grape arbor in the back yard when I was growing up. I think you should take it as a sign that you will have a bumper crop this year since they are producing so heavily.

The pears and cherries did well as well. I am hoping to do better each year and start having home grown lots of things. Pears are just now ready to process. They are small but the tree is so heavy with them it looks as if it could break.

I cannot grow grapes because we are never at the same place more than four or five months in a row, but there is no grape more delightful than a sun-ripened Concord in a good year. When we have too many grapes I freeze them and eat them as snacks still frozaen. Yums.

Guess what I have in my freezer? Sometimes I envy you the travel, but I am glad to have a bit of dirt that is my own. Your hydroponics just do not work well for fruit trees and grape vines, but it seems you lifestyle keeps things pared down well.

Sounds like you are having a really wonderful grape year! Lucky you!! I've never tried raising grapes. I understand it takes many years for the vines to get to really producing bountiful harvests. I'm not sure, but I think our soil here is too hard of a clay to really grow them well. Up towards the Lake here (about 15 miles away) they grow grapes successfully and they all say it's because the soil is so much more sandy. I do think the fresh grown ones do taste a whole lot better. I often get from the farmers markets over there, and they do have a sweeter nicer taste.

I do not see them at our local farmer's market. I have lots of compost in my soil, and maybe I could add some sand. The fruit was not large, but it was certainly flavorful.

These look like Concords. Is that correct? Are you just going to eat them and give some to family and friends? Are you making jelly/jam? I have Kay Gray HGrapes growing. They are a mildly sweet green grape. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

They are seedless, so they are not concord, but they are a very rich and flavorful grape. I gave some to family and some to neighbors. Originally I was supposed to have a dk purple (blue) a red and a while, but all that seems to have survived is the dark purple. I planted them two different times, and they were just getting good when that person had them cut down. We fixed that issue. I will prune them back some, got a book to tell me how.I have some just frozen loose in my freezer, they are a terrific cold snack. I will make jams and jellies next year. I have not canned or anything in several years. I just made a batch of spice red pepper jelly, and I do not have much faith that it is going to jell. I will let you know.

For some reason I thought you lived near KC, not out west there. I always have had big yards since I have been a homeowner. Apartments were the pits. Sometimes you can get good stuff at Farmers' Market.

We had our best grapes the first year we moved here. We must have had two bushel. But since then we haven't had as many and it's almost impossible to get them before the raccoons. Yes, you are so-o-o right, they taste so much better than in the stores. Esp. since we often have to have them come to NY from California, so they have almost no taste by then. If NY has a good crop, sometimes we can actually go to a store and get some grown here. But I love ours the best.

Oh wow you can grow grapes where you are? I've been told here the growing season is too short and we never get grapes on the trees people have planted.

Check a good gardening catalog and see what zone you are in. You are in Canada, right? There may be some varieties that will do okay there.
