Government's Round About Ways

Well as most my friends here know, my father took a spill last month and hurt
his hand fairly bad. He has Medicaid as well as Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance. You would think the hospital bill would just be taken care of by one of his Insurance companies right? Yeah right. Let's get real here. This is the United Statse Government at work. Seems the hospital submitted the bill to Medicaid.
They refused to pay it as it happened on private property etc etc. So I had to
call the Anoka County License Office to file a claim for this injury as it happened there. I had to wait for a return call from thir manager. Well they are renters.
So I had to call the owners of the building. Now the owners were rude in a way telling me I should have done this right away. Sure but I was stressed etc. Anyhow, the owners are going to contact their insurance company to see what I have to do. Then I sit here and wait for another call who knows when. Oh gawddd do I ever hate dealing with any form of Government. My rant for the day. I hope this issue is cleared up quickly. Thanks all.

Living in a country where medical care is free at the point of delivery, my mouth always hangs wide when I read about the US system. What I am amazed at is the attitude of the Medicaid. Is there a preferred place for an injury? Surely where the incident took place is immaterial. Then the bureaucracy you face to get the bill paid. Sheesh. I hope that he is healing well now.

Well see the US wants the most cash it can get to pay this bill.
So that's why they want a filed claim against the place where it happened.
They may get more cash possibly is why the red tape.
Oh well, gotta love the US Gov. at times. N O T !!!

Dealing with the government I sure hope you don't hold your breath waiting on this to be taken care of. Also don't get too dizzy with all the different people taking you in circles. I would also find out why your dad has to pay for insurance if he can't even use it for this. If you had gone and reported the fall when it occured then they would have thought you were going to try to sue them. I also hope this is settled soon for your and your dad's sake, ya'll don't need the headache.

Bob I am so sorry your dad was injured, and I too hope things go quickly. I do know however after dealing with the government for 5 years + fighting for my disability, nothing moves quickly except their lying mouths. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but it is the truth. Blessings Marilyn

Hi Grandpa Bob, I get really annoyed myself with all the red tape that suddenly appears when you need to make a claim for anything, they are too ready to sell all these policies but when it comes to paying out on them its a different matter entirely. I do hope this gets resolved quickly and that your fathers hand is better bless. I remember the day he had the fall and how you were thinking of putting a ramp in at home too to help. Ellie :D

His hand is doing great. Only bruises on his fingers now.
No pain and no problems since it happened. Thanks for asking also.
the ramp is still a though.
he doesn't go anywhere so theres no real hurry just yet.

Any form of government and insurance, lol. We had our fair share of roundabouts when dealing with any of them. Nobody ever wants to be responsible for anything or take care of anything. Hope you'll get it all sorted out soon.

Gezzzzzz, oh Man! You call them and they give you a hard time about not calling sooner. I swear that folks just look for reasons to get another person a hard time! I did not realize that there would be a time-line on filing this. How would you have known sence you already thought that it was being paid for. They could have been nicer! Did they even ask how your dad is doing. With the way folks are so "Sue" happy now-a-days you would think that they would be a little nicer.

Why do they always have to make things so hard? And do People not realise that you do not think of something like that straight away as your First concern is your Dad
I am sorry you have all this on top of the Scare you and your Dad had, it is just stupid and it is proving more and more there is hardly any Compassion left in People

They want as much money they can get for this is why. This I understand fully.
If the fall was due to their lack of upkeep of the property then they'd get it
paid by the owners of the building. So this is why the headache etc. Oh well.

I hope your claim is settled quickly. I heard that it takes a while to get an insurance claim because they do not want to pay you. I heard it is extremely difficult because the insurance companies set up to get more money the more the claim is disallowed. And I bet there is a lot of small print that seems to say that a claim can only be paid if, and when, etc.
I do not know how to fix the system, but I hope you get Blue Cross to get the bill paid. I mean your father did not deliberately cause his injury.

I know what you mean. It is right down awful these days. My husband and I cannot afford to pay insurance. It sucks. My daughter got Medicaid a few weeks ago because she has to have surgery this Monda. I thank God for that but our government does suck. We cannot afford to pay $600.00 a month for insurance and a $10,000 deductible per year either. It is sickening. I wish you and your dad the best. Good luck.

Urgh...Blue Cross/Blue Shield suck, but then all of them do. and why prey tell does it matter WHERE the accident happened? An accident is an accident...most accidents do happen at home or on some designated "private property"
Hope you can get things settled soon. Uh, I don't think I need to tell you my rub ins with red-tape govt. bureaucracy, right?....LOL I could write a novel on that alone

Well, what they say about America is that it has a very litigious culture.
Which is why I guess lawyers make so much money.
What has that got to do with your dad's claim? Well, it explains the bureaucracy. When there are so many people suing and trying to make claims, the companies that can be claimed from try to make it as arduous as possible for you to make a claim. including the government.
And it's always hard to make claims. But when they try to get you to sign up for insurance and stuff, it's oh so easy. Just sign in two places and you sometimes even get a free gift. Cest la vie.

But then again I can also see the Governments requests
as there have been so many cases recently of medicare fraud.

Oh good grief Grandpa Bob!! It doesn't matter where it happened at but that it happened and medicaid should have paid it!! What good is the insurance if they won't pay?! I'm scratching my head on this one. So does that mean he can only get hurt on his own property? Give me a break!! These scum bags are finding these stupid behind loop holes and getting away with it.

Geez. talk about rightful claims and benefits. Isn't it your father's money who pay the monthly due of his medical insurance? Before, I thought this is only rampant in our government and now you've proved me wrong. If they ask you to pay for your taxes they're like sharks in the sea looking out for blood and prey. But when the time comes when you are to collect what is rightfully yours, men you're like putting an elephant through a needle hole!

I will agree with you that all of this red tape keeps many of our seniors from getting the help they need, for fear of it not being paid for. That is just not right.

This is our government all right. What should have happened iis the insurance should have paid it and then submitted the bill to the owners of the property of went through legal actions to be reimbursed. Instead they denied it and expect you to figure out what to do with it.

That is why I'm thankful I live in Canada. Your Dad could have gone to any hospital, got his hand fixed up, and wouldn't have cost him any money out of pocket. If I had to pay for medical bills on top of everything else, I would be in really bad financial shape.

I got hurt on some property and while it took a while, they finally paid. The kicker was that this property was for aged and disabled low income people and this door was ANYTHING, but handicapped friendly. I talked to a guy who was SO rude that I called the ADA on them. They got that door replaced with one that is actually handicapped friendly.

I'm so sorry to hear you have to go through this Grandpa Bob. Your father's medicaid and blue cross blue shield between the both of them should have covered that no problem. Now you have to go through the aggravation of all this other stuff how annoying. I do hope this all get's cleared up for you and fast. How is your dad's hand doing by the way? I do wish you the best of luck on this and may it all work out just fine have fun don't worry and take care. :)

i guess the building owners felt you should have left your dad on the step to go find them to fill out the paperwork quickly ?
i'm glad to have read above that his hand is better. that's the most important thing.
unfortunately, i know all about the workings of medicare, medicaid and insurances.
i worked in a surgeons' office and handled the billing. it's like being in the military and THEY are in charge.
even though i knew all the forms and codes and lingo, i was an outsider too.
think it's their money !
