On Friday everyone in India will be having a holiday as we celebrate our 61st Independence Day. So all of us here are looking forward to a very long weekend here - mainly those who have a holiday on Saturday too. So how are you planning to spend this extra long weekend? And I think I will miss many who will be holidaying and will not be able to mylot. I too am not too sure of my plans as we have not yet been declared a holiday on Saturday. So I may be in Office for a few hours. And then some time on mylot too if time permits. Waiting to hear your plans.

Hi Mayka,
Well the long weekend has passed and we are into a new one already
. Well the long one was not really long as I did not get a break on the Saturday. In fact it turned out to be just like any other weekend. But Independence day was special, at least in my thoughts and my resolve.
Let's see how this weekend goes and hope this a good one for you.

Well am in 24/7 world, so cant think of getting off. We have offices open on National holidays also. lol!!.. If I get a three days off, I'll definitely enjoy a lot. May be will go out on a vacation.
We hardly get time to enjoy any vacation. may be I'll take a leave to enjoy on Saturday for Rakshabandhan.
Then make a skip on Sunday. May be like this I'll be able to enjoy this long weekend. But will prefer to have a good sleep rather then roaming around.

Oh yes, you are very correct. My hubby, son and me are looking forward to it so much. Many of our acquaintances are going out on short trips but we are preferring to stay at home and catch up on some leisure time and much-needed sleep. And then our Durga Puja is coming up at the beginning of October and so we may go and do some pre-puja shopping too and dine outside. I am really looking forward to this break.

mayka,
I have some work in my agenda tomorrow. Its sad how our Independence day is reduced to a mere holiday! I would rather participate in some flag hoisting ceremony and do some stuffs that make me happy. I am sure there are still many, including you, who still feel the chill in the spine on hearing the national anthem being played. That's make living so good.
Have a nice time ahead.

I like spending long weekends hiking in the local mountains. I frequently spend time just sitting in front of my pc or hanging out with the family watching tv.

Wish you a very happy Independence Day. Thanks for starting a new discussion. How you are going to celebrate this weekend. I think you will be visiting your cousins on saturday for Raksha Bandhan, but I will be at home doing all the house work and spend my time at home only. My sisters invited me to their place but I rejected that I wont be coming. I want to sit peacefully, if my children goes to their grandma's place.
