I spent a great deal of time on Sunday afternoon watching PBS's tribute to Warner Brothers movie production company. I learned quite a bit about how the industry got its start, and I also got to see many clips from old movies dating back to the 1930s. It was a very nostalgic trip down memory lane for me because I grew up watching many of the films with stars the likes of Bette Davis, Barbara Stanwyck, Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Spencer Tracey, Katherine Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, just to name a few. Are you a fan of old movies? Who are some of your favorite bygone stars? Those like James Cagney, Edward G. Robinson, and Errol Flynn were all such great actors. The one thing I noticed about many of them was that they were not especially handsome by today's standards, but they did have that something special about them all.

I really love Citizen Kane, starring Orson Welles. That's my favorite movie of all time. I also like Casablanca a lot, because I love Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Marlon Brando in On The Waterfront is another favorite. There's really several more that I like too. I think you're right. Although many of the leading men weren't all that handsome, they really had "star power"

They were such great stars, cblackink! There's a lot to be said simply because they allowed one to use their imagination to some extent.

I did enjoy the old movies, but I could not tell you a favorite. I did like the music and dance films the most. Fred Astaire and others. I really like PBS because of the fun British comedies and the opportunity to learn about more things outside my world.

My TV is usually tuned mostly to PBS during the weekends, GG, because of the interesting shows they have.

I only regret, stephcjh, that I grew sleepy and was unable to see the entire show. Hopefully they will run it again in the near future!

Oh yeah, I like some old movies..Just like movies today, you have the good ones and you also have the bad ones..I remember as a kid on weekends they use to play old movies, but I never knew really the name of the movie or the actors in it, but I enjoy them..Now with cable, (that we can not afford.) that is where they are playing all the old movies, so I don't get to see them anymore..

They have those collections, carmelanirel, where you can buy like 50 movies at a very reasonable price. I have one of the old movies like Hercules, Jason and the Argonauts, etc. I plan to get one just of old movies the next time I find one.
