Not so mysterious shopper

We have heard about mystery shopping right? Well I do not do that. But I have a sort of mystery shopper for me. It is my son-in-law this week. He is picking ouit a new Digital LCD TV, HD DVR player and home theatre system for my house. I had some picked out already to but this weekend. But he has a friend sort of that works at a store. Seems he is getting me a decent deal on everything also. So I dropped off a lot of cash to my daughter this morning so the SIL can purchase the items for us. He wqill also come over and hook everything up for me. I am a ditz at times when it comes to hooking up electronic things with l;ots of wires etc. Do you shop for large electronics yourself? Do you have someone outside of the family hook it all up for you? Do you hire a company to hook it up at all? I think I am getting a Toshiba 32 inch LCD HD TV and DVR. I believe the sound system is a Yamaha. 5 channel with a powered woofer. The woofer is 600 Watts and the reciever is 500 Watts if I recall. Now I'll be able to enjoy good sound with my movies etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Good sounds for your movies and some good music also. I don't buy major things like that myself. The last big purchase item like that we got was a gift to us from our youngest daughter and son in law. They had bought a new big screen TV so they give us their old TV, entertainment center and surround sound. Well, the TV after a couple of years started messing up. Well they were here visiting and my son in law would not have that so he and my daughter went shopping and come back with a new TV and surround sound. The old surround sound was still good but he said the black surround sound did not go good with the new TV. So, I would have to say my son in law bought the last main purchase. Before that it would be my son or my son and husband together. When it came to a new laptop for our son we contacted his best friend in Norway to help us since he is so computer smart. When it comes to hooking things up, that would be my son. When we got DirecTv though they insisted on hooking it all up themselves.

The TV I am replacing is nearly 20 years old. Still works somewhat too. There's a whoite line about an inch long across the top though. Everything in that area is upside down though. HAHAHAHA! It needed replacint anyhow. We have satellite TV so we don't need a digital TV other than the fact this one will die soon. My present surround sound is a 20 year olod stereo system with just 2 small speakers. Not the best sounding but better than the TVs sound alone for the past years. I listen to XM Satellite Radio through Direct TV's signal a lot as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Sounds like fun, and I'm a little bit jealous. We put off buying a new unit since we are moving and holidays are coming up. I guess it will be after the new year and maybe even summer before we splurge! Enjoy your new setup!

Thanks. They are all seperate units. Meaning the DVD isn't attatched to the TV etc. The digital TVs are so skinny too. Makes for more room actually. I've wanted one since they came out with them awhile back. Just did not have the cash or reason until recently. Things will happen soon enough for you as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

When it comes to electronics my fiance and I share it equally. I pick it out as well as he has some input but mainly I do all that. He carries everything and pulls it out of the boxes but I hook it up. I have always been intrigied by it and the less wires you have to use is better. We have a kick butt system right now and looking into getting an upgrade for the family room downstairs right now. We pretty much want the same that we have upstairs but a wayyyy bigger version of it.

My wife is illeterate when it comes to major purchases. I do all the comparison shopping etc. I do the research on brands and quality etc. She is the money decider though. Hee hee. I wanted a larger TV but we have a 30 inch now so a 32 will be okay. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I usually do the shopping as well. My wife makes the final dewcision as she is the bread winner here. But this is handy as I don't have to drive around shopping etc. Save a lot of gas that way too. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hello Grandpa Bob. Usually when we buy something about electronic things, my wife and I go and buy together. We won't buy it so soon until we have compared some of them. Well, I am very happy that you will be able to enjoy yourself a lot by having a larger TV to watch programmes. That is cool. Enjoy your life, Bob.

Well thats good..I know you'll enjoy it, if you like watching movies, like I do. I too have a 42 inch tv, with surround sound, and I love watching movies on it, especially action ones, that have alot of sound to it. I'm not a pro when it comes to hooking things up but I get by pretty good, I haven't shorted anything out yet..lol. knock on wood..lol. I haven't had to call a company to come and fix anything, if I can do it myself I will, save money too..

I don't buy very many electronics, since I am still not in my own space (long, messy story). When I do make any major purchases, I make the decision on my own, since it is my money and I will be the one using it. It would be different if I were married and had kids, but, since I don't, I am left to my own devices.
