Well, there are many ways to keeping your eyes safe from computer radiation. One is you can keep the light on such that the light from the screen is not the brightest. Secondly you should take a break from the screen every 30 mins. Look around for 2 minutes and let your eyes adjust to some some other bright object and far away objects too. this is a trick people are asked to follow when reading books. But the time is usually an hour or so. Thirdly, you need to blink your eyes a lot. the liquid in the eyes should continuously flow around the retina to keep it from getting dry and strained. I have found that LCD screens are brighter than the normal CRT monitors. So one should take much more measures when working on the LCD. Because they are so bright, you can turn down the brightness, but still see clearly. So that's one measure. You can also use a sheet of plastic in front of the screen to avoid dust falling on the screen. This avoids the dust from falling on the screen and diffracting the light. If the light is diffracted, then you will have to strain harder to read. Sounds like a small thing, but in reality it hurts a lot. bourne

Wow, good info, are you one of the expert in this business line? =) Really appreciate your post and guide. I do always feel tired and sleepy when having long time facing the computer. The way i try to solve is to go to wash room to clean my face and just rub my eye gently so it can relief, but this just only help for short while. So when i need to rush for things like project, i tends to visit the washroom more frequently. LOL.

Project time can be very straining on the eyes. I'm doing a project right now which makes me use my laptop for almost hours together. But project is not always computer work. You have to write notes about your work and other stuff into books. So I place my work such that the documenting take the break time and moves me away from the computer system. And No, I'm not an expert in the field... Just experienced. Have been using computers for a very long time now..And spend almost all the time in fron of it. bourne

well, have a filter glass on your monitor or LCD screen. It reduces radiation that affect our health, specially our eyes, and of course, you should have a 5 to 15 min. break every hour, so your eyes won't ache that much.. And drink water, or any cold drinks, it replenish your body.. ^_^

Hello nutanjain, I usually stay on the PC for about two to three hours only. I don't have those symptoms you are having with when I am no the PC. I think taking a break and having so eyeglasses helps. Why don't you try wearing sunglasses to reduce the glare and don't put off the light, that's help me not to have eyes strain. Regards.

You can use an eye liquid to soften the strain on the eyes or use a light pair of shades to protect your eyes. You can also ask an optician. But the best thing I think is to see an oculist. If you have this problem there is a chance you might have an eye problem to start with in the first place.

there are quite a few reasons for protecting ure eyes while sitting in front of the pc... 1)one would be to put a UV filter in front of your monitor...nowadays u get spectacles which have UV protection lens so u could buy one of those as well.... 2)blinking ure eyes frequently and taking a ten minute break from the computer after every hour is definitely required....during tht break...dont strain ure eyes on something else...instead look at sumthin far like outside ure window... 3) sit in a bright room and not dark...however dont keep the light directly behind the monitor....also the glare of the light coming on the comp screen shud be minimum

it is better to look away from the computer screen once in about 30 minutes. then better to walk away and take a troll for say 5 mins. splashing it water helps sometimes.

Somebody told me that after staring at the computer for hours, look at a blank wall and stare at it or close your eyes for a few minutes. If your eyes starts getting watery, I suggest you do something else for a time. Also, do not wet your eyes when you feel this as this can cause damage.

It's better not to face the computer for a long time. It's better to relax your eyes half an hour. Try to look something far away. Besides, I've heard that radish is very helpful for the eyesight. I love China

Do eye exercise by alternating your focus between something close up and something far away. Look at something far from you like something out of the window or anything distant inside a room. A discussion here is opened by one of my friends which recommends rubbing your hands together and cupping them over your eyes every now and then to give them some symptomatic relief. It is also necessary that you rest your eyes every 20 minutes. Take a walk and let your eyes rest from the computer. Those will surely help you as they do to me.

well, There are some stuffs you can do to prevent yourself from such problems... Taking rest for 2 mins, every half hour is the best way assumed. Keeping the room Lit is one more method. Placing anti-glare screen is one of the best method when you cant avoid PC for hours.. Adjusting the brightness of the screen such that its neither too bright nor too much dim... whenever you lit the room, make sure that your light should be falling from you back and not from the front, else it will creat more stress in your eyes... For taking care of dark circles, you can cut raw Potato or sumtimes Cucmber slice and put it on eyes, it refreshes your eyes. One mroe method is used for relieving stress from eyes...cover your eyes with your palm such that not a single ray of light is entering into the space between eyes and covering palm.. and open your eyes in that darkness... do it for 2 mins [watching in complete dark] and it will remove lot of stress.

I am at my computer a lot. I have an LCD screen monitor and it is a lot brighter. I always have a light on when I am sitting at my computer because my eyes can't take it without one. My husband doesn't use a light and I don't know how he can do that. I always turn the light on since he doesn't. It took me a little bit of time to get used to it too. I also have an LCD TV as well but it sits far away from the furniture because it's a big screen. But when I am in front of my computer, I always get up every half hour or so. I do the same as others have written here too. Best to take care of your eyes!

Hi nutanjain, I purposely get a pair of glasses which is believed could protect my eyes from the harmful rays of the computer. An optician who is a friend of my husband recommends me to put on the glasses for he knows that I like sitting in front of the computer most of the time. Anyway I always try not to use the computer for more than two hours each time. I would do other activities or house chores and then back to surf net again. posting and take care.

Well you are supposed to take a break of at least 5 mins every hour. However, the really problem with computers is that they make you stare so you need to blink a lot. Blinking stops your eyes from drying out and is good for your eyesight.

You do not need to blink continuously but if you pay attention to when you do blink you will find that you tend to stare at the computer, the same with the tv and staring is bad for the eyes as it dries them out. Just try and remember to blink regularly. As for women who blink continuously, my mother had a friend like that and she had wonderful eyesight.

but if we blik continously then i think our blinking rate of 6 seconds will change and it will become a common habit so it will look bad i have seen this on some peoples eyes

Sometimes we will tend to strain our eyes when we are sitting in front of the computer. Our eyes will become dry and discomfort. What I normally do is by applying eye drops to moisturize my eyes. Another thing is I always make sure I don't stay late at night until I have dark circles. I will sleep before 12am,unless weekends.

as for me make sure the light source in your home is behind you when u are working in the computer or while reading also make sure the room is well lit dont work in a dark environment(some people thinks its cool but actualy not.) one more tip is that "your eyes should be on the line with the top of the monitor screen".
