Can you see who rates you?

I was just reading another dicussion where someone had a different opinion of the marjority of the other people replying to the dicussion. She stated that they better not minus her because of her opinion and that she had all their names. Any one logged in can rate her either as a plus or a minus. So how would she really know who rated her? It could be someone reading it, but not responding. So, can you see who rates you? Because I didn't think you could. Or am I totally missing something after all this time?

I also don't know if there is a way to see rating. I have never seen whether someone rated me. But i think the person you are talking about may be they are in a dispute. That's why she is stating those names. Once i have responded to a religious topic and my reputation went down from 84 to 77. I know two person or more did this. I think it is her guess.

I know what you mean. I only rate people positively unless it's someone being vulgar just to be a jerk, then they get a minus.

I don't know that you can see who rates you. So you are right. How would she know? I do understand her being suspicious and afraid of being minused....sometimes you can say something her and get blasted and you are only saying what's on your mind! LOL

Jillhill - Hi! I can understand her, or anyone for that matter, being afriad of being minused for stating her opnion or what's on her mind. I wouldn't be surprised if that's happened to me, just probably not on the same scale tha happened to her.

jillhill I hate this whole thing, I am not a hacker, andI didnot say I cou ld see who minused me, I merely said if you do this to me I will do this b ack, I was so sick of beingminused for nothing but having an opionion different than the two people who insulted me. I was not in any way insulting them, I only stated my o wn opinion about who I w anted to vote for, and do I ever wish I had kept my mouth shut.as now this person had made a discussion over something that had happened to me before.I had been here a month, had a ten star, and overnight someone deliberately downrated me to a six, and just now I have come back to an 8. I did not insult anyone nor flame anyone nor disrespect anyone, so I felt I did not deserve this. I did complain to my lot and they did answer theyu told me they had banned two people who spent six solid hours minusing everything I had done here.so see why I felt suspicious. why must I have to defend myself?

That's what I thought. But if other people rated her with a minus, and not the people in the discussion, she would never know and blame the wrong people.

Suki, Even if she DID guess incorrectly, the worst "retaliation" she could do would be to ignore that person, & take them off her friends list. I'm sure there's no way to see who rated whom as what. It's one of the FEW things MyLot does well--protect your privacy, I mean. Maggiepie

As far as I know you can't tell. If her star drops, she'll probably assume that it was anyone whom she commented negative to but I don't believe she could know for sure. I don't often rate negative but if I do, I strongly feel it was earned and I really don't care if the person knows that I did. What are they going to do about it anyway. They could troll me and rate me negative so my star will drop but that's pointless because I really don't care.

Good for you I agree with you! I have been trolled and had my star reduced and I am like you I could care less. I just put it down to people who have no life outside of myLot.

Hi Sid and Whitefeather. Thank you for your comments. I figured that the mylot admin could see if someone was being vindicive. (Gee I hope I spelled that right.) And I really want to say, thank you for mentioning that there is life outside of mylot. I thought that exact same thing when I was reading some of the posts - and not necessarily posts on this dicussion, but on other ones as well.

hahaha!! that is funny!!!how could she know who rated her of what? plus or minus? I don't even know who rated me and if those people who responded to my discussion rated me or not. But I am really sure that this lady is not telling the truth. LOL

Hatley - in case you didn't see the comment above, here it is: Hatley - If you are upset about the discussion I started, I apologize. I was just looking for answer that I didn't see in the faq. I don't even remember what the screen name was that left that comment in the discussion I mentioned. I was not trying to be mean to anybody.

celestial I did not say I could see who had downrated me at all, i was not lying, I said that if those two who insulted me minused me I would minus them back. no of course I could not look through a computer and see who was having so much fun. I am not a bit funny, just frustrated and by her making this discussion and making me look like a jerk, now I am really sad. from now on I will never ever say one word about my political views on anything here.I had thought I was among other adults who could respect my views as I respected theirs. I was wrong.

No, we can't see who rate us. But the after effect can be seen when myLot update our information or account. You will see your star reputation is up or down. Try to move your cursor to the star and see what number you get. If you number raise, you get +, if your number go down, so you can guess that you got some -. Keep post Happy myLotting...

Thanks, I forgot all about hovering over the star. I guess, it's just kinda of there for me. I think I've been at 9 since about the time I started so I don't really think of it.

So, I rolled over my star today and it was down by three points - I guess someone didn't like my discussion on here since I haven't had time in the past couple days to get on.

No you cannot view who rated you and how did they rated you. What the mylot user was saying is a comlet hoax. You simply cannot know who has rate you and how.

To my knowledge, it is simply not possible to see who rates you and who does not rate you. While posting a new discussion, you just cannot see '+' '-' or '!' signs. You can rate others but the member cannot just see what ratings you have given to him. Even a third member cannot see what kind of ratings have been given between two members. So the member who said that she knows all those who will rate her.......did not tell the correct position. She appears to be taking others for a ride. You need not worry on this account.

Hi SukisSmiles, Hmm...I have no idea also how to do it if ever it's possible but so far, I haven't heard from any of my friend who mentioned the possibility of knowing who rates us here! Hopefully, someone can inform us if ever it's true! In my own case, I would love not to know I guess....LOL!

That is so true! I really wouldn't want to know who minused me, especially if it was a friend. Also, for the next person, you can use the mylot code to the left to make your type italic.

Nope you can't see a who rates you. There would be too much retaliation going on, if you find somebody rating your negatively, lol. Anyhow, either she works for mylot and has access to the code, which I doubt is the case, or she is like my neighbor. Her son used to have loud parties, very loud parties. Just once a year, but it was a pool party and he just is generally very loud with a weird loud laugh and booming voice. So anyhow, last year the party was coming up and she happened to have an over the fence talk with my husband and one of the neighbors, you know one of those chats you have when everybody is tending to their yard, lol. She mentioned the party coming up and eventually casually said that she told her son to behave and clean up after himself. She wouldn't be there. And then she said nobody better call the police. However the last part was not something she had said to her son but to my husband and the other neighbor. I know that the year before the party got out of hand and their neighbor on the other side had called the police. It was four in the morning! I'm not sure what she wanted to achieve by telling us but it was like, if I hear the police was here then I know who called kind of deal... Very strange... Let's just say, the police was called anyway when he loudly threatened a girl that came by uninvited shortly after 1am... Now our neighbor doesn't talk with us anymore, lol... Preventative strike that's all. Don't downrate me or else... Some people think they can influence your behavior that way and stop you from doing something they don't want you to do..

OMG ~ That is totally hilarious. If she spent all of her time being vengeful then she is wasting more time than she needs. It is unfortunate that some folks are that way. Consistently worrying about what other people think of them. It is different if she doesn't have any people skills and can't express herself in a way that doesn't offend alot of people. Let's face it, everyone will not always like what you write or don't write. Everyone won't always enjoy a certain phase you may type. As long as you're being sincere about a certain topic and responding accordingly to the subject at hand, it is that person's "LOT" that they decided to share with everyone else. Nothing personal by it at all.

You could probably figure out if you got into some sort of dicussion/reply war, but for someone just passing by, I doubt it. I have rated people positive on replies on a dicussion where I didn't reply at all, but thought they had a good one. btw - welcome to mylot.

Oh yeah, sorry hit post to quickly. I seriously doubt that she ever knows who or who doesn't do anything to her discussion or comments. She can ideally assume is all, unless the person specifically told her.

If we could see who (or what, to be insulting to those who minus others for kicks) rated us, then there would be a never-ending cycle of clique-ing and vengence. I couldn't really be bothered if I get minus-ed, but I do apologise if I knew I went too far with my words. So far I did that once in my short stay in myLot. Shan't mention the nickname because there is no need to blow things up. As for plus'es, since I can't see who gave me thumbs up's, I have no way to thank them, and thus, there's no need to be happy about it. I'm just here for the quality discussions, posting, and nice people. Of course to people who just can't accept differing opinion or like being jerks/jackasses, they can kiss my butt goodbye. I apologise if the penultimate sentence sounded a little too vulgar. But it seemed to best express my thoughts. Tee hee.

I sure do! Lesser amount of trolls compared to other international forums or forums of private servers. Of course there are times I see religious-esque discussions spinning out of control, but that I couldn't care less. Plenty of nice people around here =X And for a little extra, the word is spelt 'vindictive'.

There is no way anyone knows whether they were + or - No matter what anyone says unless of course it is a known friend and some members are working together I do not concern my self because Ratings and Best Responses are fine but i do not lose sleep thinking about it Good Luck Have a Great day

I guess people do get there friends together and either help or cause harm to others ratings. I am always surprised when I get a best response - I always think, wow, I said something that helped someone. Or, I must have been the only one to respond.

Well, you get the star after you have 100 posts. The star rating, I guess, is done by people plusing or minusing you. You can see it to the right in the box with the responses. You just don't see it on the comments you made. So, you can plus or minus peoples comments. If you hover over the star, you see a mylot rating. By the way, you have a cute dog.

No, there is not a way to see who rates you. I think if you could and someone rated you negatively there could be unwanted repercussions. I think it's a good thing that you can't see who rates you. It also makes it easier for someone wanting to report a legitimately bad discussion or someone abusing their priviledges at Mylot.

I know, that little exclaimation point is nice. I came across a user once who was being really vuglar and had to use it. I won't even mention the really disgusting thing that was left on one of my discussions. They took that comment off, thank goodness.

Hello SukiSmiles, I also think this features is not available here at mylot. I think it would be a disaster if you can see who is giving you your rating. If you are so concerns about your rating, you will be tempted to give a minus rating on the people who give you a minus rating also even though they give a good post. Just this week someone give me a minus rating and I am guessing it's one of those religious topic where I got one. But it's just ok. It will remind you to keep on your toes when responding to a discussions. You will never know whom you might offend. Have a great day. Regards.

i will definitely rate her negative if i come across this reply. not because of her opinion. but simply because of what she said. that sounds like intimidation to me. or maybe you can call it a challenge. what is she going to do to those people who rated her negative? is she going to start spamming them? or is she going to stalk them? this is bordering on being childish. to me, i post a response based on what i feel. others can rate me whatever because this is exactly what mylot is all about. as for seeing who rates who, i seriously don't know. it doesn't bother me so i never tried to find out. cheers ;p

If there is a way to do it I have never seen it. I have looked all around the site, and have never come across anything like that. Perhaps she just meant she knew all of the names of those who commented, but I don't know how she could distinguish between the ones who gave her a low rating and the ones who didn't. Sounds like an empty threat to me.

If you look to the right, above the orange comment box, you'll see a plus or minus. You can rate that persons response right there. You will not see it on any responses you made.
