Would an editing option a GOOD or BAD thing for Mylot?

Was just wondering this, because of someone else who wanted to edit something in the discussion that he placed I believe yesterday. Do you think Mylot should add an edit option for your responces and comments? So you can make good what you did yourself wrong, and then onfcourse you will have to give up an reason in my opinion why you had to edit your message! So I think this would be a VERY GOOD thing for MyLot! What do you think?

I think an editor would be a great idea here at myLot. There have been numerous times that I have either started a discussion or responded to one and there have been errors either that I misspelled a word or left a word out, etc. After I have hit the submit button more often than not I have noticed the error and would have loved to have been able to change it. If the option were there I would use it. Hopefully it will be something they will put up here at myLot in the future. Have a great day and happy myLotting!!!

I hope they put up that editing feature soon. I need it and I see a lot of other people obviously need it too. Do you think they will pay attention and put one on here?

I belong to message boards that have an edit feature, which is a good thing. But there is a time limit, I think 20 minutes in which you can do it, and that makes much more sense. When we re read what we wrote is when we see our typos. So edit with a time limit is a very good idea.

It sounds like a good thing and I know I have often submitted a post and then realized there were mistakes in it or I wanted to change something but I am not sure you can have this on a site like this. Since mylot checks the posts and then determines which ones need deleting and how much each one is worth etc then I am not sure that editing a post later would not upset their system so they would probably not allow it.

Yes, that could be a good reason. But systems can be changed..And I don't think many people will many times use this function, but that's why I said as well that you DO need to give a reason for it. Then only one person would need to check those reasons and response/comment, if this is the real actual reason. I think this would save them loads of time with checking as well, and make it somehow easier. Ofcours, for acchieving this function, it will take quite some time before this can be made possible, but we'll see! Thanks for sharing!

I've always believed that mylot should allow members to edit discussions even after it has been posted. They can put a limit on editing, like no editing after 10 hours or something like that. However, as long as we aren't allowed to delete discussions, I don't think we'll be allowed to edit discussions as well which is just too bad.

I agree VERY GOOD, many times I can look back on what I have written and there are typos, spelling errors or just wrongly worded statements cause by typing to fast. I also agree about having to give a reason why you made the edit, this should appear on the original "edited 4th October - corrected spelling". I have seen this on other forums and it is very useful.

Haha yes indeed! same here! I've actually made a mistake in the title! I should have added 'be' in the middle! Maybe if this discussion will get loads of responses with that we would want it, that maybe MyLot would consider adding it! So let's hope! Thanks for sharing!

I think an editing option would be very nice. We all make mistakes now and again especially when we are trying to achieve a certain number of posts each day. I know I've seen spelling errors right after I pushed post a few times. Normally this would really irritate me, but I have no choice but to just let it go. Thanks for posting and happy mylotting.

Hi there slot100! I think that it would be a great idea to have an editing option here at myLot. I have experienced rushing into posting some discussions as well as responses only to find out that I made some errors. It doesn't happen that often though. However, it would be nice if we could edit what we posted especially those that have errors. Maybe myLot can allow us to edit just once. I guess that would be fine.

I don't think they will have that option, but if they did, then the reason I would edit would be because I misspelled something or said something that didn't sound right..Like for this morning..I have a cold and I took something for it, so I don't think I am responding in a way I would if I didn't have medicine head..

I do think that it would be a good thing. There have been times where I made a big annoying typo in the title of my discussion and, it stares me in the face and I feel a little embarrassed about it. And, there are also a few times where I would like to edit other mistakes that I have made. I think that if they added an edit feature but, kept some restrictions on it, that would be really great.

It is a very good option. Especially to change typos as most of the members have already pointed out. But then some people might misuse this option to create problems like edit their posts after they have been commented upon and then later have troubles because of that. But coming to think of it, typos and such small errors are easily overlooked because myLot doesn't require you to have high grade English. So typos and small grammar errors can be neglected. bourne

A very interesting question. I wish I could go back and 'edit' a few of my entries. However, as I'm sure you know, we do have the option of a pre-view and edit immediately before we submit our posting, don't we. I think that the current publishing format of myLot is correct and fair. It causes a 'current', real-time opinion on the discussion in hand, and it teaches us all to think carefully before we submit our comments. Put it this way ... at least its not a live TV broadcast - then some of us WOULD BE IN TROUBLE!

yep, i definately agree with you. Been able to go back and fix your mistakes is great but i think it woul be a lot better if there was an aditing thing where you can do a spell check as you go along or when you have finished writing. That way the computer fixes it fo you automaticly. But if that doesnt work, been able to go back and edit text is still perfictly fine. Happy MyLotting!

I reckon it would be a great idea! I am new to myLot and i have posted many responses with many errors, it was extremely embarrassing. Usually we'd have to comment again to correct our error therefore it would be great to have an edit option, maybe even a delete option.
