I took a typing test yesterday. And my score was that I could type 33 words per minute.. This has been major improvement for me. I once could only type 15 wpm 9 years ago.. What about you?

Congratulations!! I remember when I was learning to type and hitting 30wpm was a big deal, a sign of progress and I was so proud of myself. You keep practicing and you'll do even better. It's all a matter of training the nerves in your hands and fingers to react to your thoughts--if you want to type the word "type" your fingers will know where to go as soon as you think of the word. I've been typing for 35 years and can do 68 wpm on a good day. That's because I've trained my fingers through practice. It took me about 3 months to get that fast back in high school so you can do it!

I type around 40-45 wpm right now. Would love to see this increase though and continue to work on improving it. Being on this site certainly gives one alot of practice....

I type a little over 75 words per minute. I can type faster, but, I try to pace myself so I don't get carpel tunnel. By the way, I love typing so much and could type ALL DAY LONG! LOL! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Oh, here's a tip I heard awhile back that will help you type faster. Don't type words. Type letters. Another words break the word into individual letters instead of clumping the whole word together So, instead of typing 'typewriter' you would type 't-y-p-e-w-r-i-t-e-r', saying each letter individually in your head. Even though I am a pretty fast typist I usually do this when I'm typing a word that I'm unfamiliar with and it works everytime. I've discovered that after doing it like that a few times I can just type the word up without even thinking about it! I hope this helps and good luck to you! Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

Hi cream! When I was in 6th grade, my mom bought me a typing lesson manual. At that time, I typed very fast. I already memorized the keys and did not watch the keyboard while typing. There should be correct hand placement. However, now I can only type an average of 35 words per minute. Maybe because I am not into clerical work. My work doesn't require more on typing. 35 wpm is already an average speed.

I can type well over 100 words per minute..... Just don't expect any of the words to make sense! The last time I checked my typing speed where accuracy also counted, I was at around 40 words a minute from memory. I wouldn't mind checking this again actually, because it;s been a while since I tested myself.

Personally, I haven't been able to determine my typing speed for quite sometime now. I remember when I was still a first year student in college, I took up 2 units of Typing course. We were given techniques and training to develop mastery of typewriter keyboard by hands, along with several typing jobs which we have to finish within the allotted time of 1 full hour. Normally, most of us found it difficult to comply with our professor's requirements during the first few months. Eventually, some of us were able to achieve mastery of the keyboard and attain a typing speed which was not exactly that of a lightning speed but was fair enough. And primarily due to the several years of absence of typing practice on my part, my typing speed naturally slowed down. At present, the only practice I derive from is here in mylot community so I'm definitely thankful for this wonderful site; aside from the extra earnings I get from here. By now, I think I have a slow rate of 15 to 20 words a minute. Regards.

I used to do a lot of typing, like for 25 years I worked in an office. But then I quit working in that inviroment and took on a different kind of job so I hadn't done any kind of typing at all for about 5 years. Then I started to find ways to make money online and came across mylot. At first I was very slow typing and I had to look at the keys to type. After about 100 posts I started to pay more attention to the screen and quit having to look at the keys. Then at about my 500th posting here I realized that I was typing pretty quickly again. It didn't take me all that long to get into it again. Now I don't know how many words a minute I can type as I have not taken a test in a very long time but I think I probably type about 80 words a minute as long as I have something to follow. And maybe I could type even more than that if I didn't have to correct any errors not that I have too many but even having one or two would slow a person down. So in the test you took, were you allowed any mistakes and if so, how many were you allowed?

75 wpm. I used to test myself and there are a few websites that have a little test you can take to see how you're doing and how to improve. I was the only guy in my typing class in Jr. High but I didn't care who made fun of me. I applied for a job once and I had to take a typing test and I typed 67 wpm, the people were so impressed with me that they hired me on the spot. I used to type my own letters and draft my own pleadings, I probably put a few secretaries out of a job but that's the way life goes.

I have an average or about 35 wpm. It depends on what I'm typing. If I'm typing a document looking at a pre-written paper, then it's fast, but when I'm typing here in mylot or an email, it's usually slow to accommodate for words and thoughts. I havent taken a typing test, but I somehow can guess the average umber of words I can type. Looks like I have to take a typing test as well to see how that works out. bourne

Well I think I can do about 40 words per mintue. I am not sure I do that here on mylot because I tend to look at the keyboard. But I wish I could do more like 60 or more. I know some jobs require it but I never seem to get past the 40 words. Take care and happy mylotting to you.

I can only do 45, it seems that after all the years I've beeen typing I'd do better. But that's with one or two or no mistakes. That's my problem. I want no mistakes. So I second guess myself. If I didn't care about mistakes and didn't second guess myself I'd do much better.

Hello cream. I have not exact idea how many words I can type in a minute, but anyway I have certainly made a lot of progress ever since I started to mylot last May. I owe my typing progress to mylot and appreciate it very much. I am sure that I will type faster so long as I mylot and type every day.

From the start, we learn the blind way to type. It is said that people will type faster by this way. I don't really think so anway. I can type about 50 words per minute.

Really depends upon what I am doing. If I am working on an article or work document which tends to be longer than usually 75 to 80 wpm. If I am typing here than usually around 55 to 60 wpm.

I took typing in school so typing is easy for me. I haven't checked in awhile to see how fast I can type but I think it's around 35 or so. I think I will check it and see what it is. You have me curious now LOL.
