Dear friends
, whenever I see a post, be it a discussion, a response, a comment, a sub-comment or a counter comment, I first of all rate it before moving ahead or writing my own comments. I always rate every one positive (+). I would like to know from all of you - do you also rate MY responses, comments, counter-comments or not? In case you do, I am thankful to you for your gesture and in case you sometimes forget to do it, I would just like to remind you that please rate my disscussions, responses and comments so that my overall rating could remain high. If you do not like any of my responses or comments you may not rate me at all or if I have written too off the mark or too bad..........you may rate me even 'negative', however, while rating me negative, please do let know that you disliked my response/comment so that I could improve upon myself from the next time.

To be honest, i dont rate all discussion, comments, sub comments, its not that i dont want to, its just i JUST FORGOT
But for sure i never rate any one negative, what evger i dont like, i just skip it without rating or commenting.

yaar its not about quality of post or discussioon, normally i wrie the response first and then rate it but some times in hurry i just forgot it, sure i will be watchful in future
and trust me ur discussion and responses both are qualitative, i wonder how can anyone rate them negative

Dpk,
My tendency is to rate each and every discussion,response and comment with a positive. I have never and would never rate anyone with a negative. If i see a response or a comment which is something that i do not like then i would rather not rate it then rate it negatively.
Having said this i do not get to concerned about the rating. To me it is the quality and the people who respond which keeps the interest going.

Hi deepak, I am rating qualitative responses only. I can't give everybody a BR so instead am rating it. I already tell you I am rating qualitative discussions so there is no question of 'negative' rating. You want to know about your discussion. I hope by reading my response you must have reached a conclusion. Thank you.

Yes Deepak, I am rating your discussion as positive. I am always doing when go through a qualitative discussion. To be very frank I did not know that rating will help others to keep their rank as high. Thanks for the information. Now I have to change my attitude and do the same for all. If I can do a favour to others, I think I have to do it.

I never tried of using that +, - sign. I dont rate any discussion or comment or responses, i think i miss look those sign and I havent use it since form the start . Im glad you raise that question, so i will know use it then. happy posting.

I do rate every discussion I respond to if I see it deserves a positive rating.
Most of the responses to the discussions I start are also rated positive except one liners and responses which are not relevant to the discussion. Even the responses which have a different view from mine are rated poitive if they are put well (without offending anyone).
I've rated a negative only once (or maybe twice)....and that was for real offensive words.
But one thing Deepak, you can start a discussion about rating....but do not ask people to rate you positive so that your rating remains high (I think it's against the rules to solicit for + ratings).

I'm sorry I misunderstood that part....I was just trying to put it across before someone else does.
The best way to go about would be to put your response in the best possible way (without thinking of the rating). From my experience, some people rate all and sundry (without bothering about the type of response) and some people forget to rate almost everyone (even when the discussion and/or responses are worth a rating). Simply put, some people rate and some people don't...irrespective of the TYPE of response you give or the kind of discussion you start.
As far as my thing goes, I don't forget to rate....but most people on mylot do....and I've seen that as responses/comments in some discussions people started to remind others to rate.

I did not say in my discussion - "please rate my responses/posts positve". I only said - please rate me, if at all you ar going to do it, on merit. The purpose of the discussion was that if I am not being rated by some of my dear friends, I need to raise the bar as far as my responses are concerned.

No need to say sorry.........I can understand your view point........I felt there was some mix up........when you went though my discussion....does not matter.
I agree with you that we should write our responses in the best possible manner, I try to do in most of the cases, but sometimes due to time constraints, I limit my response. I also agree with you that - some of members rate each and every response, without going to its merit and some do not rate at all.
It is good to know that you do not forget to rate.

I only rate those discussions in which I feel like giving a response.
Else I move on.
I just don't go one rating every one around here.
I rate mostly those response in which I myself respond, there are some discussions whom I rate and do not respond. They are only some very good discussion and can't respond to them.
I also rate negative to some discussions but they are very few...
I seriously don't like that discussion or response I do rate them negative but that has happened only once or twice ,I don't get pissed out that easily at least here in mylot.

I rate every discussion positive unless asked to rate it negative. I have only done negative rating once or twice and that was becase the person was very abusive to the OP. I usually try to avoid people when they are rude and just don't give them a response.

Thanks for the reminder. Very often I forget to rate the discussion or comment. It is a very good practice that you follow and this is a good reminder for all of us who do not do it regularly. From now on I will make sure I rate all the comments, counter-comments and discsussions.

You must rate each and every comment and response (including me), this would help the member to consolidate his ratings. It is a kind of supportive and positive gesture to the other member to acknowledge his/her efforts.

Hi Dpk, I too like you automatically plus rate a comment before responding back. I have only ever neg rated once and that was because this guy was putting money making links only into my discussions which is a total violation and could cause the discussion to be deleted. I also rate all added comments too and the discussion section. I would never rate anyone negative just for having a different opinion, I find that quite refreshing within a discussion anyway as that to me is what a discussion is all about. Kepp posting and keep responding and keep having fun here, that is what I do. Ellie :D

Hello deepak! Well, I do rate every members who responded to my discussion, but it depends on what they say. I don't rate a plus to a person who answered a one line or a one word to me, although I tried to ask him/her back so that he/she could contibute to my discussion and rate him/her a plus.

It is good that you post counter-comments to know the exact views of the respondent, if he posts a one liner.

hi dpk yes i do as I think its only fair and I give all a positive as theres already too many negatives out there.mylot actually encourages us to rate responses and comments saying
it will help all mylot users. if we do this for each other
our ratings will be much higher. I feel a lot of people skip
'doing this and they really should do it as it helps all of
us.

I am not very regular in mylot . I donot get time everyday. Moreover I post responses only and hardly try to start a discussion. But I post only 5 to 6 responses daily. I some times rate a response and most of the time forget doing it. But i will try to do it more often now. It never struck me that I should be rating too. Yes, as much as possible, I rate any discussion, response, comment, etc. positive (+). Although, I sometimes forgot to rate responses and comments that I got, I rarely forgot to rate discussions that I responded, I always rate it positive.

I have just rate you a positive. I seldom rate people in their discussion or any of it. Its doesn't bother me at all cause i don't think it influence anything. If its really will increase a person rating i might start to rate people today. I doesn't mark any best response cause i seldom get that too from people so i am not into it too but if its reaally good response then i will mark him or her. It depends...
