What was the #1 Song on the Day You Were Born???

The Ames Brothers - The Ames Brothers were popular in the late 1940s & early 1950s. Rag Mop was the #1 song on the day I was born. It was a dumb song with a catchy beat.

http://www.joshhosler.biz/NumberOneInHistory/SelectMonth.htm I do NOT want any personal info as that will get me deleted. However, I found this to be fun!!! My Song was "Rag Mop" by The Ames Brothers. I doubt that anybody even remembers that song. I seem to vaguely remember. But what do you expect out of somebody my age??? Here it is just in case you're as old as me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRQSYYOu_Zc One friend of mine found the name of the #1 song on her day was actually her name!!! What was the song on the day you were born & did it mean anything to you??? Remember...do NOT give your birth date here!!!

The song that was #1 on my birthday was the song "Rock Me Amadeus" by Falco. The funny thing is that even before I knew that song was the #1 song on the day I was born, it's been one of my favorite songs for several years now.

Rock Me Amadeaus by Falco - Was this the #1 song on your date of birth???
That is one of those cool things that comes out of this!!! Coincidence???? I doubt it!!! Your Mom was probably listening to that song just before you were born or had the radio on in the other room just after bringing you home. Since we don't remember from day one, guess we'll NEVER know!!!

that would make you a little younger than me because I well remember when It was #1 and I believe it was high on the top 100 for the year that year as well. rockin tune. So many musicians admitting Mozart's influence made classical music cool again too.

"Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles is my song I suppose haha. This song does not seem too old to me, though I suppose I am not very old, it just seems like many years of someones life, time really flies, it's crazy. I wonder when this song will be redone by another artist, only time will tell hehe.

That is one of my favorite songs!!! The words "black velvet" refer to either Elvis himself (as his likeness is usually painted on a black velvet canvas) or his voice. Black velvet is described as a "new religion that'll bring y'all to your knees". The chorus talks about "black velvet in that little boy's smile; black velvet with that slow, southern, style" and the end of the first verse claims that "The boy could sing, knew how to move, everything, " and that "he'd leave you longing for [black velvet]".

This is really cool LadyMarissa! I have seen sites where you can order a newspaper headline from the day of your birth but I have not seen this before. On my birth-day the number one song was "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers. Not a bad song actually, gotta be happy with that!

I wasn't old enough to be singing when I was brought into the world, but even now, I don't remember "my" song either.. It was Ballerina" by Vaughn Monroe, now that is telling my age, not good, huh?? I wasn't sure that singing had been invented when I was born, I sometimes feel older than dirt anyway, but I guess that it was, lol.. Neat site..

Mine was "Wheel of Fortune" by Kay Starr. I have no idea what that song sounds like, but I vaguely remember the name Kay Starr. Thanks for that really cool link! We can look up the song of the day for so many special events. I like looking back in history at things like this. When my kids were born, I took the newspapers from those days and clipped out some of the more meaningful things that happened that day and put them in a scrapbook. Of course, they're getting really brown with age now! I think a link to those kinds of things is so much better than a crumbling piece of paper but, then, that crumbling paper has some meaning, too. I wonder where I can find a copy of that song, "Wheel of Fortune" by Kay Starr?

strangely enough I'm pretty sure I still have the LP that song came from. Stranger still is the number of people I know who look at me like I'm from mars when I mention the word "LP" It's downright annoying when they don';t know what it means even after you explain. In fact their reaction is normally "how old are you, I never herd of such a thing. I just ask them what they think dj's are "scratching" in those rap songs. they generally have no idea.

Not fair the #1 song when I was born is not on iTunes ("The Song from Moulin Rouge (Where Is Your Heart)" by Percy Faith) and I don't know it. But I know every song that was on the list starting from when I was 2 years old. We did not have a TV until I was 7 so I guess music was the alternative (AM radio no less). And I remember Rag Mop and Mom loved the Ames brothers.
