I have just committed mylot blunder. I answered the same topic twice. I had the feeling that the topic seemed familiar but it did not pass through my mind that I had already answered this particular topic. What are your mylot blunder? Did you commit any or you a very careful person who checks every thread before posting? © ronaldinu 2008

I thought as long as you didn't copy and paste your response more than once into a topic you were okay. Please don't tell me taht we can't answer the same topic twice. That's insane. Just like it's insane to think that with almost 150,000 members there won't be more than one item posted about the same thing near the same time. Geesh. Oh, I've read the guidelines. But I don't understand them.
At another forum where I post, there might be 50 articles about the exact same thing and no one cares. Each one gets page views and comments, so everyone wins.

is it really a blunder? i believe there's nothing wrong with it as long as you did not copy the same words phrase in your other posts then there is nothing to worry at all. who among us here did not experience of this sort? you only commit violation when you actually copy/paste or re-write your response from one discussion to the other.

I have a way of keeping track of discussions I've responded to. I give everyone I respond to a RAITING. When I see that the discussion has already been raited by me, then I know I must have already responded to it. I use the raitings as a way to keep track of the places where I've already been.

danish thats a neat way to keep track, thanks for the hint, we should be rating everyone anyway and this makes a neat way'to know where we have been

I don't blame you. It had almost happened to me too a few days back. There are so many discussion on myLot and sometimes it is hard to tell whether we have answered a discussion or not. We can only rely on our memory alone and therefore, there is no 100% way to be sure of that.
May be myLot should come up with an enhancement that would give us an indication that we have participated in a discussion or not so that we would not ended up responding to the same discussion over and over again.
Cheers!

I have gone to reply to a thread only to find there was a mistake and I wanted to reword it a little differently to add more. Well apparently while they are asking you to add tags and asking if you want to add it as an interest, they have already posted your response so when I went back to correct it posted twice but the responses are both worded differently.

You can answer a thread more than onc. Just as long as you don't post the same thing more than once. If you do and it is an accident. Just report your owncomment and tell MyLot you posted twice by accident. They will remove it.

Ronald, lots of people have done this. One day the glitch got ahold of me and I not only answered a discussion four times, it was with the identical answer. If you suspect you might have answered a post before, check to see if it is marked rated. If you rate everything you read, you will see that it is rated and know that you need not answer again, unless you want to make a comment on someone else's response. That is one very good reason for rating everything you read or do. The other choice is to always answer through e-mail. I only receive your discussion one time, in my e mail. I answer it, and rate it. I close the discussion after reading some other responses, then delete it immediately from my e-mail. I hope these tips help you and others who visit this discussion.

I don't carefully screen the threads. I just assume I have never replied to it.

Welcome to the club. I responded to a post twice too. When I found out, I apologized and it was fine. Accidents do happen.

Hi ronald I have posted the same response twice a few times and in some of my responses mainly cos I have been tired I have made a lot of typo errors it has made me wonder how the person who wrote the discussion was able to read it sometimes!!...littleowl

With many similar discussions going on, it is little wonder that we commit such blunders. I have seen that in my discussions too. There are times when I read a discussion, then something crops up and had to leave the computer. As such when I get back to mylot, I'm not sure whether I have responded to that one or not. If there weren't too many responses, I will go through each page to see if I have actually responded. If yes, I go on to the next discussion. If not, I write my response. That's just what I do...

i haven't committed any mylot blunder recently and i am very careful not to do that here... fortunately, so far i never commits a serious mylot blunder here... mostly just typo or grammar errors... take care and have a nice day...

I am pretty sure I have done this once or twice myself ronaldinu but it was more a case of the system freezing up and then me refreshing the page and having my response double post itself rather than for any other reason. I have had people do this in my own discussions many a time though. In most cases it has been a new member that has not quite worked out the ins and outs of mylotting yet but occasionally I will have a response earlier on in the thread and then several pages later the same person will respond again! It can be difficult to check through all responses if there are many so I am not surprised that some people make this error at all. Double the fun though right?

Hi ronaldinu,
Yes I ave done that by mistake so now I really look to see if I have respond to it before if it looks familiar.

I think I might have done that without realizing it. But I didn't think it is a mistake, since I have read the rules and guidelines and none of them talking about answering one discussion with two different replies. Unless you made double posts, it would be different thing. Don't worry, ronaldinu. It's not such a big problem LOL
