No, get you minds out of the gutter, I'm not talking about what you might be thinking of.
Today being Halloween, my friend Vi always has fantastic Halloween get togethers and I've been going to them in years past and have always had a great time. Last year I missed out as I had a severe painful injury and just couldn't make it. Well this year I'm fine, except for one thing. I'm just plain not in the mood to go. I'd rather stay home, putter around the place and sit back and watch some appropriate Halloween type movies.
Have you ever been like this? Invited to what you know will be a great party type thing, but when the day arrives you're just not in the mood to go and rather stay home? I've been trying to call her to tell her I'm not coming but no answer..she might be getting last minute things in the store for tonight's "event"
So have you ever backed out going to something like a party or whatever as you just plain weren't in the mood?

I am with you. In matter of fact I am not going anywhere. I will just stay home and work on old files. My friends are going to go places tomorrow but I am not going to join the crowd....

I know...sometimes it does turn out that when one isn't in the mood to do something then decides to go it can actually turn out to be a great time. But alas I do know my mood right now, and think will skip out...besides I have my own little ritual thing for Samhain I want to set up for tonight

hi {{Pye}} oh yeah, maybe that's why I don't get invited anywhere huh??
who wants a grouchy old crabby woman at the party?? ( that would be myself)
I'm referring to there...(G)! Heck there days when I don't even want to talk
TO ANYONE on the phone, now how crabby is that??? Pretty darn bad I guess;
if you don't want to go, I would just stay home then and don't beat yourself up
about it, its not worth it, they'll either understand or they wont right?

LOL...I guess we're both crabby at times. I'm like that too. I've never been a big phone talker myself which is why I don't call people that often. As for my friend understanding...mmm...she got kind of pissy with me when I didn't go last year....oh, well

i also had ever feel like you before in the past... i am so lazy and not in the mood to attend a wedding or b'day party that i am invited to by a person whom i don't really know that well... i prefer to stay at home as well when that happens rather than wasting my time and making myself feel miserable in the party because i won't enjoy it... take care and have a nice day...

That's why I didn't want to go...not being in the mood I wouldn't have had a good time anyway

The closest I have gotten to that type of reaction is just not being excited about a party but I did go. Usually I am excited all day before a party , but one time I wasn't excited , I was numb.

I guess I could have gone but I've just never been good at putting on a happy game face and "pretend" in having fun when I'm just not in the mood

We were invited to a party by my Mom's church, and I've just gotten over a cold..so the whole week I debated it. I really didn't want to go, but Mom wanted us to show the old fuddy duddies how to party. So today I decided, "Well, it'll make Mom happy. I might as well"...then my brother caught the same cold I had, and she decided we wouldn't go and leave him out.
So...meh. I've always been much happier just doing my own thing for holidays really. Settle down with a lovely movie with some snacks and a favorite drink to spoil myself (in this case: cider -- which is something I haven't been able to have for YEARS and have desperately missed -- and hohos, aka swiss rolls. And I'm watching Resident Evil, lmao).
But then, I'm not much of a people-person...not terribly social. So I guess this isn't really that big a thing, or a surprise really.
What people always seem to think though, is that just 'cause one's not in the mood to party on a holiday and want to stay home...they think the person's not having a good holiday! But actually, this has been the best halloween I've ever had.
Everyone's got their own brand of fun!

To quote you: "What people always seem to think though, is that just 'cause one's not in the mood to party on a holiday and want to stay home...they think the person's not having a good holiday!"
Couldn't agree more. For the past two years ever since my mom passed away all my holidays have been just me alone (and my two kitties)..I even celebrate my birthday alone (yikes coming up next month) and have had real fun by myself. I fix up my favorite foods for the holiday and have a blast just puttering around on my own. Nah, I've never been a party animal or socializer myself, not to say I don't mind being with people, but I have tons of things to keep myself occupied and never feel lonely by it

I know what you are saying, I have felt that way many times. There have been times I had to drag myself to an event because I said I would go.

I guess I could have forced myself (drag myself..LOL) to go to the party but I just knew I wouldn't have had a good time, and not very good at pretending

Yes...I usually love the holidays but sometimes I am just not in the mood for the partying. Unless I'm with someone who really pushes me to go regardless of my mood, I sometimes back down. I really really love halloween so I usually do get pretty into it. This year I had to work but still had fun seeing all the costumes etc. New Years Eve is the one that I tend to go back and forth with...more often than not backing down. I just really don't like that particular holiday. People get way too drunk and there always seems to be too many fights etc. I usually either volunteer to work that night or have a very small get together with close friends.

I've never been big on the New Year's partying thing either. Always have stayed home, though my grandmother and mother when they were younger used to celebrate by being right smack in the middle of Times Square...sheesh..my question in my mind would be..uh, what if you're in that large crowd and have to go to the bathroom...LOL

I dislike any type of holiday party and generally end up staying at home with a nice cup of hot tea and a good book. I even skipped my G-sons 6th birthday party this year because i just dreaded the thought of the whole thing. I truly think it is simply the noise that i dislike so much, when i was younger it didn't seem to bother me but alas i am no longer younger!LOL

Probably way too many
I am not a big party person, so that's why. As for Halloween, it's just another day to me. I do buy candy just in case a brave kid wanders down the driveway to my back house. But, it is just Friday to me

From reading everyone's responses here so far, it seems we're all a bunch of party poopers..
I bought some candy too, but it looks like I'll just have to "force" myself to eat that candy..no one came yet trick or treating...

Yes, I have. Parties aren't fun if you go because you have to, not because you want to...no matter who is hosting it. Stay home, enjoy the movies and a relaxing Halloween. Appologize to your friend, explain that you weren't feeling up to it. There's always next year, since you said she throws these every year. If she's a good friend, I'm sure she'll understand.

Yes I have, I hate it when it happens though but to be honest most of the time I never feel like going out and socialising anyway. It is worse at this time of the year as well when it goes cold and all I want to do is snuggle up in the warm, not get ready to go on a night out!

LOL--I couldn't really make the weather as part of my excuse for not going...it was actually a nice, fairly warm and clear night...also, ironically my friend only lives down the block so it wasn't as if I had a great distance to travel...just plain wasn't in the mood to party it up

oyewacket yes I have done that too, as I am a homebody content
to be at mycomputer and in my own bedroom. You know you would enjoy the party but yet you are not in the social mood, you just want to loaf at home and watch something good on the boob tube
instead. lol.

Hey pye! Yup! I get like that sometimes! I just rather
do whatever and not be bothered! I don't know why, but
I just feel like being lazy and not going wherever it
was that I was invited to go even though I know it will
be fun! So, yes I know what you mean! And once I make
up my mind there is no way to change it! So what movies
were you planning on watching? I'm too busy trying to
make my last minute pennies to stop until the midnight
hour when it's last call for mylotting October closeout!
So I will be in front of the computer until then!
Hope you enjoy the movies!
