It Finally Happened...

Last night, I decided NOT to myLot. After working from 9am to 10pm, I just wanted to spend time with Boyfriend and watch TV together when I got home. The next two Fridays, I will be working those hours again. I work for 4 hours in the morning for a part-time job for my mom and then I proceed to my main job for a 7-8 hour shift. It is long and as much as I like both jobs, I think I'm going for overkill here. I knew I used to have these kinds of long hours when I was still in school and working. Boyfriend is doing the same. When he's not at school, he's working. So I apologize now to all you good people who respond to my discussions that I don't get to reply to right away. But I will. I also apologize to those that I don't get to respond to their discussions as much as I want to. And I will try. Do/Did you also have these long days?

I have had those kinds of days and have concluded that I prefer NOT to have them! I like to have just enough activity in my day that lets me feel productive with enough time to do it in that I can relax and enjoy the ride. But I will try not to write long rambling posts in your discussions!

Hehehe, I always answer the question SaintAnne, it's just that sometimes I have reworded it to suit myself. I didn't realize it was that difficult to figure out what question I was actually answering!

But I always enjoy your long rambling posts, even when they don't really answer the question. I still like them a lot!

I wouldn't be able to handle long days like you describe on a regular basis. Now and then, no big deal. But every week? Or a few times a week? Ugh! I think it would kill me. Or at least I'd get to the point where I wished it would. lol.

My job isn't really just staying in one place the whole time. It actually is enjoyable. We get to go on hikes and outings. But still, when I've been out of the house for that long, there will come a time that I wish I was already home, doing nothing. Thanks, CanadaGal.

Well, lately I have had a couple of these long days as well, so have not had the time to be active in here as much as I would have liked to be as well. I have been busy lately helping a Friend from work move, and so it has been rough for me to be online for sure. I will hopefully have some time in the next couple of days to catch up with everything for sure. Just remember to have Fun when you can be here, and this site will always continue to be here when you can be active in here as well.

It sure seems like it, KrauseHome. I definitely spent a lot of time here on myLot today but might not be able to so much the next few days. I hope you're not achy all over as moving or helping someone move does that to my body. You are a good friend. Take care and hope to see you again here sometime too.

My situation is very much the same actually and there are times when due to my work committments I do not come here at all for weeks at a time. You see I am an interstate truck driver and regularly away from home plus we have a small organic farm that tends to keep me occupied when I am actually at home. There are times when I do a trip and can get home the same day, like is happening at the present time but it doesn't normally happen that way. For those people who work we all have times when we cannot come here to mylot, much as we would probably like to come and post every day. I have learnt not to "sweat the small stuff" though and just do what I can and time permits me to get online for however long I can spare. So, yes I do work long hours on a regular basis. Some days it might only be 9-10 hours but more often than not I work up to 15 hours a day. During the winter months I generally work shorter hours but like now I am driving for upyo12 hous a day and then do a few more hours on the farm as we are currently planting our summer and autumn fruit and vegetables.

Thanks very much for the best response you have given me. Well I have to drive trucks so we can pay off our farm or at least we can pay it off quicker and given that I am no spring chicken it seems to use that being debt free when we are older is the best thing. Yes I do take breaks from driving and am required to do so by law in fact. Maximum of 4 hours without a break and can drive no more than 14 hours a day.

You're welcome, oldboy. I'd like to have a small farm myself but don't have a clue as to where to start. Maybe just a small garden, then. I'm familiar with some of these driving laws but whenever I hear of trucks going off the road or get into accidents, the main reason would be that the driver is tired and sleepy and does not stop at all. Take care again and may you be debt-free soon!

Oldboy, you do keep yourself very busy. I hope when you're driving those long hours that you make sure to stop and get some sleep or rest in between. I do wish I get to have my own garden where I can grow seasonal fruits and vegetables. Take care and thank you so much for taking time to respond to my discussion.

I think a lot of people have these long day weekdays. How far do you have to travel to get to your job? Hope you're getting some R & R between these hours, subha. Thanks again.

Not to worry Saint Anne :) Just take care of yourself and don't overdo it. Sounds like your have a hectic schedule. I have been working during the weekends and had this weekend off. As of Monday my days will be full until after New Years sometime because of my part time holiday job. It feels full on because I have my son to take care of after school so I feel I have a lot more on my plate because of my job. But that is ok, we need the extra $$ and I'm enjoying having contact with other adults and getting out of the house. I'll suck it up until the New Year. Good luck with your two jobs and keep us posted when you can.

Hello, maddysmommy. I hope you also take your own advice (take care of yourself and don't overdo it). I think I'll be working most weekends from now on. That's when they need their employees the most. But it's fine, I still am having fun at work. And it definitely is a good thing for you to get out there and interact with other adults as well as spend some quality time with your family. Good luck!

That's okay dear. You will be missed greatly but you must go for your priorities. I do have my share of such days when I can't really manage to log in but then when I come back it feels so good to see my friends waiting right there for me. You take care, hon.

Oh, sure. I'm just very happy that I had not yet discovered myLot before we retired! But really, it is ok to take a day off from myLotting. No need to go through withdrawal, lol, although I confess I did that somewhat the first time we were on vacation and did not take the computer. Now I never take the computer. When reading your first sentence I did panic a bit, thinking you made a DECISION not to myLot anymore, as opposed to just missing a day. Whew! Glad that wasn't the case, as I look forward to your discussions

It is always a good idea to NOT take the computer when out on vacation. That's less an item when people can contact you and such. Also, without it, you get to explore the place you went to and not just stay at the hotel most of the time. I always look forward to your responses and discussions as well, drannhh. Thank you!

Don't feel bad. We all have really long days now and then and there is no time or very little time to mylot. When I wa younger I used to work those kind of hours, when I was going to college. I would open up a restaurant from 6:00 AM to 11:00 got to school from 11:30 to 2:00, and then I would start work managing a movie theater from 4:00 until 11:30 on a good night where there were no mistakes. If a box office girl made a mistake I could be there till 12:00 or 1:00 AM. The hours finally took their toll on me and I got really sick. When I left the theater job it wa like a tremendous weight being lifted off of me. I still continued to work 2 jobs but for lesser hours.

ladym, those were very long days for you. And you didn't even mention the time you have to spend doing schoolwork. No wonder you got really sick. Just reading your schedule then sure exhausted me. I am glad to know that you are now working for lesser hours and I hope you remember to take a break once in a while and rest and regain all that strength back. Thank you for sharing.

That sucks my friend and I am sorry to hear that you are working so much and I am glad that you like both jobs, but it sounds like you might be working to much which is never good for a person, and can cause a person to burnout or end up getting really sick and fatigued, and I am sorry that you do not have much time to be on mylot to comment on people who respond to you,or respond to other peoples discussions and I am sure a lot of people are too busy to be on mylot these days especially because of the economy, and me and my fiance do not have jobs right now because it is hard to find one,so we have to spend most of our time on the internet to make money, and I remember when I met my fiance she was working at this big hotel and she was working anywhere from twenty to twenty four hour shifts because she was a banquet server,so she was always tired when we would go out on dates, and I remember one time she got sick because of fatigue so I told her to call in sick, and several days later, she started staying with me at my parents house, and made her quit because it was too much for her,and someone our age do not need to worry about benefits if it means working ourselves to the bone, and she was glad she quit because she was actually able to eat regularly and sleep regularly and it also meant we could spend more time together and she has basically been living with me sense, which I know she was supposed to quit her job and move in with me and my parents because everything happens for a reason, and everything happens because God wants it to happen.

Thanks, hellcowboy. Your fiancee sure did put in a lot of hours at her former job and I can only imagine how it was exhausting as a banquet server. So far, I'm only working these hours and as you can see, yesterday and today, I am able to myLot more. Enjoy the moments with your loved one and take care and good luck on all those financial endeavors.

I have a lot of these long days, haha. But being away for awhile can actually be healthy. It's okay to occassionally have a change of pace, and leave MyLot and just experience life in its full quality.

Good for you SaintAnne! I remember one of your discussions a while back about the lack of quality time you and your BF get to spend with each other, so although we of course missed your presence, you certainly made a wonderful choice. I hope that you had an enjoyable time of it and if these shifts continue like you have said then maybe you can make this a regular thing. We'll wait for ya! lol. My days can be very long also and especially when I am travelling; but I do come home for lunch with my wife and we have a full day alone on Saturday's too so we are able to find a good balance most of the time. Enjoy every moment you can find and never be concerned with having to apologize either. We all have lives outside of mylot; we just tend to forget every now and then!

Boyfriend and I just watched a CSI episode we missed the other day. After that, I fell asleep. Today, I left the house when he was still asleep and he left for work an hour and a half before I got home from work. It wasn't only wanting to spend time with Boyfriend, I just didn't have the energy and the interest at all to get on myLot. Enjoy those lunches and Saturdays with your wife, James.

When I was younger I did work three jobs for afew years. It gets old fast and always seems to go on longer than you think it will. One thing to remember though is that when you start getting away from the norm it becomes easier and easier to get off your schedule and make excuses. Committ to what you can and need to do and let the rest go by the way side. Don't try to do too much or you will make yourself sick.

Hello celticeagle. The two jobs aren't really that stressful or exhausting. It's just that 12-13 hours is a long day for me to be working. Thank you for the advice. I do bear in mind not to overdo it as I get migraines when I tend to. Thank you very much.
