I love my Aunt dearly, But she kept me up half of the night. She has alztimers. She is just as sweet as she can be. Her alztimers come and go. Sometimes she talks like she has alot of sense, and then see babbles away. Do you have any family members with this? We signs do they have?

Hi there marciascott My nan of 81 years old has Alzheimers. We can't take her away from her house on trips or anything because she gets totally disorientated. We can take her out for the day but not anywhere overnight. She constantly repeats herself, like she has just finished telling us something and she will then start again saying the same thing. It is very difficult and frustrating being around but we love her very much and do all we can to help her.

She seems to be all right now. we are sitting up watching T.V. right now. She has quiet down a bit. My sister called to ask her how she was doing.

I don't have any family members that have alzheimers, but I did take care of a lot of people who had it when I was with visiting nurse. It's a hard disease to watch as it progresses and they lose their memories. My grandmother (in New York) had it when she was in her later 90's. It was very difficult for my mother's sisters to tend to her. She often thought that they were intruders into her home and did not recognize who they were! Luckily, when she'd scream for the police, the neighbors knew that it was only her state of mind that she didn't recognize her children. My aunts got many sleepless nights taking care of her, and keeping her from roaming those last few years. My heart goes out to them, and also to the people who so lovingly try and take care of them...so difficult! I hope you're home tonight and get a good nights rest to make up for the broken sleep you got.

Wow.. I do not have any family with Alzheimers. It is so sad to see peole lose sight of themselves. I knew someone with Alzheimers and before he passed away, he didn't even know my name or who I was.
