Well I'm talking about stuffed apples. I have been baking apples in the oven. Once taking the core out I have been stuffing the middle with sweet mince meat (the sort you make mince pies with). Now I want to stuff them with something else, but don't know what to stuff them with. Any ideas?? Please do not say stuff them with dates as we don't like dates and that is what my mum used to stuff them with when I was a child and I hated them.... so any other ideas very greatfully recieved

Hi Anne We always used to put raisin's and honey in the middle - yumm! Once cooked they taste great with all the sauce scooped up, drizzled over them and cream all over them while they are still hot!! Mmmmmmm, makes me wish I had some cooking apples handy at the mo. Enjoy Violet Dreams

If I am pretending to be healthy, I top mine with vanilla yogurt. It is a lot like putting cream on it.

I used small red eating apples as the children wouldn't eat a huge cooking apple, neither could I so try it with some eating apples. My son loves hunny

Great idea. I would be doing it for me, not the kids. They all love apples, but not the cooked variety! Odd children - lol!

I've never had baked apples, well except for apple pie. I have never heard of stuffed apples either but, could you fill them with nuts? Could you put peanut butter in them? That sounds good. I'm sorry I'm not very familar with baked apples and I'm just throwing out some ideas.

I stuff mine with rice pudding with nuts and raisens, just mix cooked rice with a little beaten egg, cream and sugar, season and nuts and raisens. Cook apples in a water bath in the oven about 350 until nice is set. Make sure you don't make it to soupy or it will never get done.

Hi ya Anne18 Well my mum used to stuff ours with sultanas put a bit of sugar in and top with a small bit of butter. I guess that would be the same as mince meat really but maybe not so sweet. I really don't know what else you could put inside maybe some kind of cookie mixture would be nice like crumble or you could put ruhbarb inside, blackberries even, gooseberries would nice inside too. Aw you are making my mouth water now!

A lot of times I put raisins and nuts and brown sugar inside mine, but I guess that would be a lot like your sweet mince. Another thing that would be good would be a little pork sausage, I think.

Baked apples are wonderful! I like many others peel & core them, mix brown sugar, brandy, butter, all spice, fill centre! You'll laugh at this, but it's wonderful,I then grate carrots, spread on pie crust, and wrap each apple individually! We then have with ice cream/or whipped cream, and hot brandy sauce!Decadent....and you don't feel so guilty, cuz you've had some beta-carotene, as well! LOL!

I don't care for cooked apples myself, but have you thought about using caramel?
