Savanna in all white. - Savannas fist mommy photo shoot

Took savanna to get her first pictures done professionally and it went bad. She did not want to work with them at all so I took some photos myself. I just had to share this one i took as i thought it was cute. I will scan and share her studio photos when i get them as well. So how did your kids 1st photo shoot go? Or do you just skip studios all together? I usually skip them as well but i had a good coupon deal.

She is so cute! We only go to a studio once a year, and that's the one at Walmart, lol. It's not really worth it otherwise. I have three, one is always misbehaving. Our first had her first picture taken for Christmas of her birth year. At that time she was around ten/eleven months old and loved to have pictures taken of her. We only once went to the Picture People. Horrid experience. The photographer just wanted to get it over with and was a bit rude like we were bothering here. Of course our youngest started crying. Then they tried to sell us those pictures as being oh so adorable you just need to have that in maximum size. Yeah right! After that experience we did the math. If we get us a good camera we'll get the shots we want with kids who are not cranky because they had to wait and wait and wait well past the appointment time. Those we like we can have enlarged. Nobody is rushed. And it works out great. Our Christmas pictures this year have smiling kids, nicely dressed, neatly groomed, nothing out of place... and they look like they were made by a professional. And it's much cheaper than going to one of those studios, even the Walmart kind;)

Lol, I know what you mean. Just wait until she starts school. Here they have a photographer come twice a year to take pictures of the kids. Cost an arm and a leg with three kids.

Walmart is where we went as well. She didnt try to sell anything to use told use her speech and let us choose no pressure it was good. I prefer my photo too but it was only 3.99 for 30 pictures so we picked the best pose and went with it. And oh i have two boys in school those pics are crazy. I once helped at photo day and got free pics so that was great otherwise i dont get school pics anymore.

Aww--Savanna's so sweet and she probably didn't mind her mom taking the photo. I had the experience from the photographer's viewpoint but it did turn out well. One of my friend's daughter had a baby. So knowing I was a photographer she wanted me to photograph her grand-daughter. I was really, really hesitant to do this as I'm not really a people photographer to begin with (more scenics and nature). I kept envisioning that Tiffany (the baby's name) would kind of freak out with my studio lights and might act up. Nothing could have been further from that. She was the perfect angel, never gave me a hard time, in fact, she was a real ham about it and seemed to love the attention and being literally in the "spotlight"--couldn't have had a better photo session! It's hard to believe that Tiffany who was only 6 months old when I photographed her is now 22!

Sounds like you got lucky. It may have went better cause you werent a stranger id say. I mean you bring your kid to a strange place to someone they never met and then we act surprized when they freak out its funny.

That's just it, I was a stranger to little Tiffany as I had never visited my friend's daughter's home before or had seen her before that time...like you said maybe I just got plain lucky..LOL

She looks cute! My son slept through his first professional pictures, he was 2 weeks old. My daughter was almost 3 months old when she has hers. She was pretty cooperative.

The only one he was awake for - My son at 2 weeks old.
I had not planned on getting his pictures taken that day either. I was at the mall with a friend and the photo place was needing baby models to help the new hires learn to take good pictures. I got his pictures taken for without a sitting fee and they gave me a 11x13 for free.

My nephew in a field of pumpkins - I had about 1 second to snap this picture before he turned away, luckily I was prepared!!
Great pics:) I love the name, it's on my list for my future kids except I plan to have an H at the end, but maybe not. Anyway, I don't have kids yet but my nephew's 1st photo shoot I think he was sleeping the whole time. As he got older for other shoots, my sister tells me that she only gets to choose from like 12 photos! I think that's a rip, they should take more. She also said that a few of the shoots he did, she had to time it out perfect so he wouldn't be tired or cranky. Sounds like a pain. So I love taking my own photos and doubt I will ever go to a pro when I have kids. It's cheaper to do it myself, plus I'd have more options. If I didn't like the photo I got, I could just take more, but at a studio it's harder to get another appointment. I think I'll even prepare my own props and end up taking great photos. Here is a photo I took of my nephew - who needs a studio;)

I was gonna have the H but my hubby didnt like the H. I agree who needs the studio if you take the time you can get a good picture yourself. It wasnt to expensive but it was a pain in the booty.

I remember taking my daughter when she was about 2 to get her picture taken and she was not going to sit up there and look pretty. She cried and tried to get down to a point I said just take the picture. Well it came back with a big tear coming from her eye and I do believe I cherish that photo the most. I always wondered how others got their children to sit there so nice and smile, mine you had to fight every time, until they got bigger.

Hi minnie, With my first girl, I took her to the studio, and I didn't have any problems, she was a big ham. My second daughter, when I did take her, she was about 1 year old, she didn't want to do anything, she cried and I wasn't able to take her pictures. I stopped taking her until she was four, she did much better.

Hello minnie. Thank you so much for the first photo of cute Savannas. Well, when my son was born, he was photoed by the hospital with him placed on the scale and date of birth on the scale. It reminds us of the very moment he was born. Good for memory.

I can say that my kids were pretty cooperative, that I can recall. The first formal photo was in the hospital but the first photo shoot was at age 1 month for each of them. It is funny that you posted this today as my granddaughter, age 17 months, had a photo shoot today. Well, she was always cooperative but I think she wanted to give other mothers with younger babies a taste of the terrible twos and she was pulling apart the sets, tossing the toy and did not want to sit to pose. But it did give great shots!!Here is a link to her photos, http://www.shareapic.net/content.php?id=12818873, but I posted one that I thought was typical of a kid that age. If you look at the set, you will notice all of the animals strewn hither and yon!! LOL

Haha, yes, she did look cute in that dress. My daughter bought it at a thrift shop, too!! Many times I would have the photographer come to my home. They offered these free 5x7 photos. I would take the free photo and buy the proofs (this is before digital cameras). Then I would take the proofs to the photo shop and have them copied for others. It was really a funny, and precious time. Yes, it was a little frustrating but it was pure comedy and true to the "terrrible twos". LOL God bless your child and all of the children. They are a joy!

Aw, what a sweet picture of your daughter, minnie! It looks like it was taken by a professional photographer. I skipped the studios when it came to my kids, though I wanted to take them when they were babies. However my husband wasn't into that sort of thing and figured we would have pictures enough of our kids from photos we have taken ourselves. He's right, but still I wanted to do this. One thing I did do when my second son was born was have his newborn pictures done while he was still in the hospital. A photographer came into the room and asked if I wanted to have his pictures taken. I said yes before I knew what I was doing. LOL The same company came to the house for a 6 month photo shoot of my son (there was some sort of deal with his newborn photo package, or something). Anyway, I didn't buy any, but I did get a free picture. Too bad he was crying while the person took his pictures, but the photos came out pretty well just the same. I look forward to seeing Savanna's photos from the studio.

First of all let me say that she is one cute little angel. As for my son's first photo shoot well as best as I can remember we had no issues. Poor thing he had the photo camera or the video camera in his face since the moment he opened his eyes so he was so used to them it was not a big deal. Now he only wants to take silly pictures. His first profesional shoot was when he was about 9 months old and he was great.

This picture is a cute one. I can't believe she's already that big. I don't like picture studios, for one thing they are expensive, you can't get out of there without spending at least a hundred bucks. Good picture tho...you need to take more of her...Have a good day
