On the news last night there were people camping out at Best Buy store in our area. Some had been there since Wednesday evening. It was pretty cool for me to think about camping out for a $300.00 computer which is what they were there for. A person at a Wal-Mart was killed because of the rush when the doors were opened. My question to you is would you, did you camp out by the store in order to get a bargain? I wouldn't. I like sleeping in my own bed and I don't shop on any of those bargain days That star early in the morning. I also don't like crowds. How about you? Did you find the bargains you were hunting for?

Thats horrible what happened to that guy. I did go shopping this morning and did find a few bargains. I went with my mom at 8 this morning. I would not camp out at the store, thats just is nutty to me. I don't understand how grown people can act like animals.

I just went to two stores. Menards was really busy, but not nutty. Then I went to Walmarts, it was surprisingy mellow. But then I didn't go real early. Left at 8 and was home a little after 10.

I don't understand how we humans can act so crazy just for a so called bargain either. It's as you said just plane nuts. Were the stores you went to really busy? I have seen news programs in the past where people grab items from out of another people's hands and then a fight breaks out. They just go crazy.

It's just stuff! Next year it will all be old and obsolete and the people will have to go through the whole thing again. Not for me. No thank you.

Your right. It is only stuff and more than likely will put those people further into debt.

I can say that I have never shopped during the early-bird sales on 'Black Friday.' I have worked the day in various jobs, and I can tell you that it's insane. I used to work in retail and Black Friday was one of those days; you dreaded as a retail worker. Whether it was an early opening or a late close, it was just a rough day. I think I worked something like 16 or 17 hours on Black Friday last year; we opened the store at midnight on Friday morning and it was a hot mess the entire day. Knowing what the day brings and how crazy it can be, I resign myself to the fact that I don't think any of the deals are worth all that. I relax, wait until about noon on this day, like I did today, and maybe hit a store or two but nothing crazy. I also like the comfort of being home and hate crowds, too, so it's not that appealing for a laptop that costs $300 or something like that.

I never thought any sale item was worth getting trampled or pushed around for. I'm not doing a lot of shopping and the gifts that I am getting wouldn't be on sale any way. I do like to shop sometime but I want it to be relaxing and fun. It had to be really rough to have to work during Black Friday. I never worked in retail so can't compare.

I have shopped on black Friday one time and I will never do it again. It is not worth it and alot of things sold out after I stood in line that whole time. I hate crowds too and do most of my shopping online. We live 15-45 miles one way from most stores anyway.

Black friday is a give and take situation. First of all it's great the kind of deals you do get for going out in the rush. But then there's some real nice idoits that you have to deal with in order to get those nice deals. For instance this morning my father decided he wanted to go out shopping and woke my booty up at 4 am. Which sucks by the way. But we went out shopping people pushing people. People budging lines. And of course in any case in the morning for me grumpy people getting togetheir. Which in case is not a good situation. Leading to fights and arguements with stupid idoits and tired and grumpy people. Not a good combo but interesting. But than the good part is getting that great deal at the end of the morning. But than again if your like me and waited two hours for a laptop and not get anything it sucks. SO in any case stay home in your bed and don't camp out. It's definately not worth that good of a deal to catch a cold either.

I guess that there are great deals if your first in line but like you said you still stand in line and those great deals are gone before you can get to them. It becomes a herd mentality because one might not get that special item so people get frustrated an become mean . Not for me. I did stay home and slept nicely. Thank you.

I found a few bargains but I sure didn't camp out for the $300 laptop. I didn't have to. I got to Best Buy last night around 7 and was able to get the display model laptop and a printer for a little more than $300. I was happy to get that deal and got a lot of my other Christmas shopping done at 5 am at Wal-Mart. But I didn't fight for anything I wanted and I didn't camp out for it. I believe yesterday's crowds were worse than I have seen in years as far as their attitudes. Whether trying to find a bargain or not we need to remember to respect others.

Sounds like you really made out with the bargains you got. Good for you. I'm surprised that there was a laptop left for that price. With the economy going the way it's headed I'm afraid people attitudes are going to get worse too.

Me????? Not in a million years LOL Maybe when I was a teen I might have done it, but at that time I didn't need to go camping for lower prices so I can't know for sure hehe In any case nowadays I sometimes go to some of those huge sales, but I will not be waiting in line to go in.

Yes it might have been fun 40 years ago but I don't remember that the stores were opened that early. And I don't remember hearing about anyone camping out side the door either.

I can honestly say I have never camped out to shop. I like my warm bed too much and am usually tired from being up early the day before and doing all the cooking and cleaning up. If go shopping on Black Friday then it is later in the day - if I find a bargain then good - if not then so be it. I usually know what I am buying for Christmas presents and I stick with that - if I find any of my choices on sale I count myself as lucky - if I dont I buy them anyway. No camping out for me.

Sales are nice but not under those conditions. I'm at the age that I like my creature comforts. I like to get bargains too but I don't like to fight crowds.I don;t like camping either unless it is in a nice cozy cabin. Have a nice week end

deebomb....I for one am with you on this one! I have never, and never will stand in line for a bargain, especially if I have to abandon my bed! Like you, I am an early riser....and when I get off this rock (Island) I find it I hit the stores as soon as the doors open, that few others are out shopping! I hate hordes in a store as it makes me not shop.....but just get what I need and get out! I don't understand the mania of "Boxing Day & Black Friday" as the sales all seem to be for electronics, more than likely something I don't need! Hope your weekend is spectacular!

I don't understand the mania either. It's just nuts. My family is all grown but when they were little I still never thought that they had to have the latest craze. As far as i'n concerned a bargain is't a bargain if I have to stand in line and then not know for sure I would get the item I wanted. You have a happy weekend too.

Hello deebomb. We have the same activities for promotion by the supermarkets in our town in summer and autumn. Many of those who don't have to go to work, mostly retired people, would like to wait overnight outside the supermarket waiting for the chance to get their luck in getting a coupon for getting a good electric bargain at a lower price. I will never be happy as they are for that purpose. I need to have a good sleep at home however cheap it might be.

It is interesting that in your country it is the grocery stores that this happens to. Other than Black Friday the only time I have heard of people camping out like that is for a special new gaming device or a highly promoted movie. I like you find I prefer to get a good nights sleep instead. If I were much younger it might be fun.

I would never camp out for something as silly. Work hard and save up for what you want is what I do... Those people are crazy!
