Which do you like better? Real or artifical?

Ok talking Christmas trees here. What is your preference? Some people like real trees. I do too. But I don't like all the clean up and the water. And I have seen so many that turn brown before Christmas. It is a real shame. So we have a fake one. And it looks just as nice. And we save on the purchase and disposal after.

I prefer an artificial one. Although I like the idea of a real one, there is no worry or mess with an artificial tree. Another plus is that with an artificial tree it is cheaper in the long run because it can be used Christmas after Christmas, after Christmas, and can last for many more Christmases to come. The same can't be said about a real tree. A live tree gets chopped down and will turn brown a few weeks later. There is something to be said about a real one though. For some reason it feels more Christmas-sy with a real one than it does with an artificial one. But maybe that's just me.

We pretty much always had fake trees growing up and now. There were a few times that we got a free real tree, but I would not spend the $30 for a real tree once, where I bought our fake on for $20 and it has already lasted five years, and has many more years to go. Seems like a waste of trees and money. Plus I have to find a place to put the tree when we were done. They have to be specially chipped. Also they have to be watered and the needles need to be cleaned a lot. My daughter can't go near the needles as she rashes with the points of the needles. I think fake also gives more flexibility of when and how long you have your tree up.

Growing up, we had both kinds. When my sister and were younger we had fake Christmas trees. When we became teenagers my parents would get a real Christmas tree. Not the huge ones, but in between small and large, I guess a medium sized one. It was actually better than a fake tree. The fake tree would have to be taken down and lugged back into the garage. The fake tree went next to the curb for pickup the day after Christmas.

I prefer to have a real tree. I love the smell of it but it is too hard to take care of and the pine needles fall off of it. I have been using artificial to save money also and to help preserve the trees.

frankly,me,i am really in love with real trees. i was actually having a discussion with my dad abou this earlier. realtrees bring a totally more genuine feeling to the chirstmas spirit then some $15 spray-painted atrificial.

I too love a real Christmas tree but I'm sorry to see how they chop down so many beautiful trees. So I'll buy a fake one this year. Last year we didn't have any, my in-laws hate Christmas trees :(

I prefer artificial trees something that would actually be considered green these days since it saves trees, and can be reused again and again for many years. I have a white one this year that is already pre-lite, It was given to me. I cleaned it up and it looks very nice. We are putting only pastel ornaments on it since the darker colors seem to harsh for the white tree that has pastel lighting.

We've always had a real tree, but now that we're in a dryer climate, the tree just doesn't last at all. After a week the tree was so dry I was afraid to turn the lights on. This year we're talking about using a metal ornament tree instead of a real or fake tree.

Unfortunately we never had the luxury of having real Christmas trees so all our Christmas trees were plastic. The only advantage is that they last for a long time for years meaning no spending on trees each year.

The real trees are lovely but I am allergic to them. I was picking pine needles out of my old carpets for years when I had them. I now have two small artifical optic fibre ones that do look nice lit up at night and do not create a mess.

I would go for a fake one, considering the concerns you had in cleaning or watering. Fake christmas trees would be economical since you could recycle it for the next christmas time. :)

We have had an artificial tree for several years now. When we lived on a farm in northern Minnesota we always had real trees. When our kids were young they had great fun decorating the tree, often they would have so much stuff on it you couldn't see the tree at all. Those trees would never had made it into the decorating books but they were done with lots of love and fun. We are older now, living in a warmer climate, and have artificial trees. They are pretty, nice and balanced decorations. But you know what? I wish I was back in northern Minnesota with little ones who would make paper stars and chains to put on the tree.

I prefer a fake tree. Live ones make too much of a mess to clean up...

I like the fake ones, they aren't as messy, though my boyfriend loves real ones and I promised him we'd get a real one, I'm not really looking forward to it.. lol.

I have never had an artificial christmas tree. In my country we use real christmas trees, and I have never seen a fake christmas tree except on tv! A real tree is messy and it not always easy finding a nice one, but I still prefer a real tree. Actually I have never thought much about this question, because everyone buys real christmas trees around here.

I would like a fake one as well. You dont have to worry about watering and putting anything you want . Putting lights on the real tree would cause it to turn brwon since it will be too hot for the tree. plus the fake one can be used for many years..

We have a fake one. I love the smell of real Christmas trees, but I just like the convenience of being able to box up our tree and put it in our closet until next year. We actually had this discussion at work today and my co-worker pointed out something about fake tree's that I never realized before. She said that even the best fake ones only last a few years. I think she's right and it's kind of making me think about buying a real one after my fake tree can no longer stand!
