hi there.. which one do you want to give and which one do you want to receive. they say home made gifts are gifts from the heart while store bought presents could be impersonal. do you think so?

I like home made gifts. One year I gave everyone a home made gift. I like to get them too. This year tho, I didn't make anything. I couldn't think of anything to make this year. I plan on making some cookies tho and put them in a tin for each of my kids to take home.

hi shiloh! well as for me, i just think about the practicality of the gifts. whether it is made or store bought, i try to make sure that the receiver can use it. in my case, i think i will be needing store bought items, especially in preparation for the coming baby. and so, if people will get me store bought presents, i don't mind. i also don't mind homemade gifts. as long as it is from the heart. good day and God bless you!

hello friend, i appreciate both. i don't have so much time to make gifts personally and would rather buy something from the store but that doesn't mean it is impersonal or something of that sort since when i bought gift for persons i would really choose a gift that they will love and appreciate. i take time to think of the gifts that i should gift to that person and not pick anything from the store and decide later on to whom should i give those gift. i know some people would do that but not in my case. i make sure that the person is happy wen he or she open the box or the wrapper.

As much as I wanted to personalize my gift for Christmas, my creativity seems limited only in scribbling short notes for my personal journal. I always wanted to make my own gift, I mean homemade gift is really wonderful but I am not really creative and don't know where to start so I choose store bought present which is the easier alternative.

I give store bought gifts because I don't usually have time to make something. I don't care where the gift comes from. I'm not even that concerned about getting gifts, it's the thought that matters. I'm happy if I even get a card. The purpose of holidays is not to give and receive gifts but to spend time with family and friends and to celebrate the true meaning of christmas and love and family. I try to only buy gifts for the really important people in my list of family and friends and then I'll bake a batch of cookies or some kind of candy for the rest of them. I's kinda personal since you make it yourself, but it's still something they can eat and they don't just throw it in a closet to regift to someone next year.

Truly although the thought is there most home made gifts do not appeal to me. For that matter, most store-bought ones do not either. I prefer gift cards.

I give store bought gifts, because I am not very crafty or good at making things. It depends on the gift itself. If it's thoughtful and well made, I like it homemade. If it's just thoughtless and no craftmenship was put into it, I get annoyed. My grandmother used to do crafts and if a project turned out bad, she would take it apart and start over. So, I believe one should do that. Store bought gifts are fine too if they show the person knows me well or thought of me. I tend not to care what people give me, unless it's used or thoughtless.
