Facebook – reveals your sins

Most of my colleagues have a facebook profile. One of our so called "colleagues" who is often on sick leave always updates her profile when she is sick. She often uploads photos of her partying appearing half drunk in these photos. Do you think that facebook reveals your sins to the world? © ronaldinu 2008

You can be a lot more open and honest and upfront on the internet, take me for example I am very forthcoming, very open and sometimes reveal a lot of myself on the internet on Mylot certainly, however in real life it is a totally different me, I am not as forthcoming, very shy and certainly not life and soul of the party, I keep myself to myself and a loner, maybe this person is the same? We can reveal a different side to ourselves on the internet because we probably feel safer to do so.

I think it depends on the person who published his daily routines.. But if you have some privacy in your life you wouldn't update your profile and post your pictures which you think is not appropriate.

Possibly, but knowing that it is for everyone to view you'd think they would try to hide some of those so called sins. I have a MySpace, but not a facebook..I rarely visit Myspace.

I wouldn't say that Facebook reveals your sins to the world unless of course you want to put them up on there. :-) Derek

Luckily i dun belong to any social networking site except for mylot.. lol =D Well, it's lucky of her that she din add her boss under her frenz list, if not, boss will surely know why she's always taking sick leave.. lol =D I guess, maybe she just wanna share her happiness with frenz, and gals are always gals, like to take picture wherever they are.. lol

Very probably ronald but I do know that you can get people blocked from facebook, so maybe it is a pretty safe site...littleowl

That's really not very smart of her! People have lost prospective jobs because of their Facebook profiles and been fired when it was proven they weren't really sick when their bosses saw their Facebook pages. I never really had the wish to chronicle my life on a public page but if others enjoy it, they should be extra careful!

Yes it does if you put your sins on it. This person is like a OJ, does think. Certain information and pictures I would not put on the internet. Prospective employers tends to love ask you if you have an email address. They will search on your profile to see what activities you participate in.

I work with children and teens and would never put such compromising stuff on my Facebook and Myspace. If one of my staff had done that they would have to remove it or be fired.

I think you have to be careful with Facebook (or other similar sites) and not reveal things you wouldn't be happy about a boss, spouse or anyone else knowing. It's not a good idea to give your date of birth either, due to the possibility of identity theft. I've heard of people losing their jobs through posting 'inappropriate' photographs on Facebook - it has happened quite often in Australia. Also, when you apply for a job your prospective employer can look at your Facebook page, and it could well jeopardise your chance of getting the job if you appear half-naked and drunk - or have posted unpleasant comments.

Hi ronaldinu, Yes, if you are going to put pictures like that, but I cannot undrestand why any one wants to show pictures like anyway, it is not nice. I don't have one and I don't do anything to put it up. Tamara

Hi there ronaldinu I really don't think that is a very good image your colleague is portraying especially in your line of work, what sort of message is she giving out should a student see it?

It certainly does, if you are crazy enough to put them out for the public. I know lots of places, like teaching jobs, that will not hire you if you have a Myspace or facebook account.

I think with as popular as Facebook is, anyone who calls in sick and then uploads their party pics should be fired. Most ppl don't stop to think that bosses have started checking out workers Facebook pages. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

Haha! I remember a friend blogging stuff despite her declaration of being absent for work. I find this kind of people weird. I mean, this particular friend had plans of going to law school and her blogging often times reveal how a not-so-good liar she is.

Of course. I think most forums and sites like Facebook, mySpace, etc., do the same thing. That's why it is so important to be soooo careful online. Purrs, Catwoman=^..^= & Mija

It depends on taste.Somebody wants to focus himself or herself anyway.Somebody wants to conceal himself or herself.Over focus makes a person unacceptable to others. On the contrary those who bide himself or herself draw attention to others.

I have a facebook profile too.I think it depends on the owner. If you wanna show your stuff to the world ,anything, you can.But you can also choose to show only to your friends or yourself.
