The young sannyasi from Bengal,India, showed the world that India was not dead but only sleeping,he burst upon the Indian society like a bombshell to see it awakened. Born on january 12,1863,in an opulent family in calcutta,NARENDRANATH DATTA as he was named, had a sharp intellect with a rational approach which made him doubt any belief that was in practice. This character in him ,made him question the very existence of god. Thus began his search for a man who had actually seen god.It ended in "SRI RAMAKRISHNA PRAMAHAMSA" ,by whom his spiritual quest was quenched. After the death of "Sri Ramakrishna",Narendra took the vow of sannyas and became "SWAMI VIVEKANANDA".He then travelled extensively across India. He went to the US to take part in the "World Parliament Of Religins". His impromptu speech beginning with "My dear brothers and sisters of America.................."Held the audience speechless. He expressed the importance of the vision for a universal outlook.Back in india aftr 4yrs,he than began the task of rejuvenating India. Understanding "Swami Vivekananda" would be understanding India. In his own words,he has described himself as a "CONDENSED INDIA".When some of his western disciples asked to him as guru dakshina,he replied "LOVE INDIA". On the 4th of july 1902,swami vivekananda wound his mortal coil and merged with the infinity.his life just spanned to 39yrs 5months and 24days.But the depths of his work,is still to entirely manifest. "THE MORE WE GROW IN LOVE AND VIRTUE AND HOLINESS, THE MORE WE SEE LOVE AND VIRTUE AND HOLINESS OUTSIDE".

what an inspiring personality he was.Service to man as the visible manifestation of the Godhead was the special form of worship he advocated for the Indians, devoted as they were to the rituals and myths of their ancient faith. He also tried to enrich the religious consciousness of the Americans through the rational and humanistic teachings of the Vedanta philosophy. In America he became India's spiritual ambassador and pleaded eloquently for better understanding between India and the New World in order to create a healthy synthesis of East and West, of religion and science.
