I'm remembering a situation back in the late 1980's or early 1990's when I was walking our dog, Brande. She was an Australian shepherd mix. Mixed with a horse, I think, because she was HUGE. Anyway I wasn't wearing very practical shoes, backless wooden things with a bit of a heel, and when I got around the block a dog sitting on a neighbor's lawn charged us. Brande lunged at the other dog and I fell flat on my butt. The dog's owner came over and grabbed her dog and said, "sorry I think that was my fault." I guess I muttered something, picked myself up and continued on my way.
Well I have a habit of thinking what to say way after the fact, so here goes! "Of course it's your fault. There's a leash law."

Yeppers!! It was her fault. Just like the other day it was a good thing I have a fenced in back yard. My two little ldoggies started barking. I soon found out why. Two big huge dogs. They look like pitbulls but seemed much taller to me. So, I am thinking some other kind of large breed. But not a boxer. cam echarging at my dogs. Than theirs started growling and trying to get under the fence. My teen grabbed my dogs and ran inside. I hollered out. Come get your freak'n dogs. I was so mad. I know they weren't my neighbors but people visiting them. I wish they would of kept an eye on there dogs. They should of never allowed those dogs to act like that. I was scared out of my mind. With my bad leg if those dogs would of jumped the fence there was no way I could of gotten away.

Yes, I do realize good pet owners do make mistakes. That may of been what happen the other day here. But you would of thought as soon as their dogs started carrying on and growling. They would of called them off. I had to get mad and holler first.
My male miniature pinscher is a real escape artist. he is tintthat he wiggles through places we think he couldn't fit. He is quick to. I always fear something bad will happen. We live near a busy street now. So, I never allow my dogs out front without being on a leash. I fear my dogs with be dogs one day and dart for the street thinking they got the best of me. Than splat. That is one of my biggest fears. As I live in redneck country. Those with the big trucks that don't stop for anything.

I hate when stuff like that happens. Of course it is possible for good dog owners to once in a while make mistakes too. My brother's dog was a real good escape artist but at least she was a sweet dog. Still, I like to think he would have taken responsibility if she had ever caused any kind of trouble!

That's right dawnald. There is a leash law and I think it isn't enforced enough. Too many dogs are left to wander and the ones that are doing the right thing usually have something bad happen to them whether it be the dog or the owner. @bamakelly (5191)

You are so right about that. I sometimes feel sorry for the animals that people let go astray. The animals are then left up to their own devices and become a problem to the neighborhood. If only people would just treat them better. Sometimes I don't know why anyone wants an animal if they disrespect them like they do.1 person likes this
