i am staying in a house given to me by my employer. I pay a rent of 5% of my salary. Since i am in a tranferable job,it is not possible to buy a house where I go on transfer so the employer provides accommodation. i have my own house which is my ancestral home and my mother stays there Iwillgo and stay ther eafter i retire. How many of you stay in your own homes?

I just stay in our own house. The house we live in was actually given by my mother-in-law so we won't have to worry about paying the rent. If I remember it right the house was built at least 10 years ago. Nobody lived there until my husband and I got married. It's pretty nice!

hello mercuryman3a, Yes we owned the house we're staying. We've been here for 13 years. We transferred here even the house is not fully done yet - not yet painted, cabinets are just temporary. So everytime we have a bonus , we're calling the carpenters to continue it. It took time before our house is fully done. This way, we don't need to rent anymore.

We bought this apartment a couple of years back when we got married but it is not fully paid yet. We hope to finish paying it off in the next ten years. Gosh! That's really a long time, but I guess we have to consistent and this is what we could afford to pay for the mortgage. Once it is fully paid, then I can say that I own this place.

I own my house. I can't imagine having a house provided by my employer...even at 5% of my salary. By my standards, you are getting a great bargain. My mortgage each year is over 20% of my salary (and that's my salary before taxes). If I calculate it based on my salary after taxes, the mortgage takes just over 27% of my salary.

I have been staying in our own house three years after our marriage we were able to build.God has been very generous to us.I only realize that now.I have also experienced renting a small room after our marriage. Then we tranferred to a bigger house and after three years we started building our own house. It was quite funny we live in different house because after building it we will live there for few years we will sell it then build another one.At the moment we have been living here in this house for ten years. And this is the longest time we have ever live in a house. If God permits us again I would like to transfer to a much smaller one in the future because my husband and I is getting weak to maintain this house by ourselves. Our children have their own family.

Thank god I live in my own house with my family. Our father when alive bought the house to the family plus 2 lands to leave us in a good position like if he knew he would pass away soon. I never paid rent in my whole life and hope not to pay because it´s a wasting of money. It´s hard to save money or invest in anything when you have rent.

I stay in my own home. It is actually my parents' and/or family's house and I've been living here since I was born more than 29 years ago. Since I am the youngest of four kids, my parents told me that this house will be mine in the future. I don't when that future is but I am happy about it because I love this house. It has been a part of me and it is where my heart is.

I own my own home. I still have some mortage left on it though so legally it's the banks. The amount of rent people are paying is crazy though and I do not know how they can manage especially at the moment with the credit crisis. I am sure you ancestral home is beautiful and it is nice to have security for your retirement also. Take care.

We own our house, though we are still making payments on it. I don't see the point in renting a place that belongs to someone else when I can make payments on a place of my own and be building equity while I do it.

we own the house but not the lot. we were so blessed because for over 40 years now, the owner of the land did not let us pay. we are so thankful for that blessing given!

i am living my mother-in-law home and i dont think i own this house but my husband and i dont rent also. We are the one who manage the necessity of the whole family living in this house. sometimes i wanted to have a home of our own so that we may know if we can stand our family of my own because i can say that most of the decision at home is my mother-in-law and i have no voice here. i am also thinking that i am a decoration here.

I own my home. I bought it last year. It's nice your employer provides your housing for you.I would like to travel more and maybe when my kids grow a bit more I will.My employer sent me to Japan a couple years ago for a week and another state for a show but that's the only traveling I do for my employer.
