Ok, I am self-learning French now. What do you think, heehee. I guess I am triggered by the inspiration of traveling. I'd like to have a trip to France someday, mabye for the honeymoon or simply for Chanel, lol. Anyway, I have bought a book and learning it now. I like languange. My first foreign language is English and my second foreign language is Japanese. I guess that's why I am doing a good jod at my current work coz it's all about reports, not my cup of tea. Dear friends, what about you? Which foreign language would you like to learn? Share your preferences and reasons!

Wow, your trying on three languages? That's very impressive. The first foreign language that I learned would be english while I got taught spanish during my college days, I don't practice spanish very much now-a-days and it would be nice if I could but, I have nobody around to practice it with so its a but difficult. I wouldn't mind learning Japanese or Korean as another language though.. Japanese for my interest with anime and manga while Korean so as I could easily communicate with clients at work, though I am not really allowed to encourage them to speak in their mother tongue..

If I could only have more time to learn things like that, it would really be nice. Happy New Year to you as well, Denise_Tung (^_^ )

Aha, I know Japanese as I learned it for a year in college. Korean is very good to hear, like Japanese. Since you have Korean clients, it will be a great advantage to learn Korean and would be useful and fun at the same time. Keep it up and Happy new year, ratyz.

I would like to learn Japanese,Greek and Arabic,I like exotic languages. Of course, they are not that exotic as,for example, swahili but not as popular as English and French, either! If you know English or used to study Latin,French and Spanisg should be a breeze

Aha, friend. I think your name here is quite exotic, haha. Latin sounds great but I guess I can't use it in my life. I used to study English and will French be a breeze for me? Good to hear that. I have more confidence now. Thanks for sharing:D

Hi mimpil. I am just getting started and I am also wondering what's the best way to learn it, heehee. I think it's a little dull and not so helpful to study a language alone. Maybe I will find a class both on line or in reality. To communicate with others will be fun and useful. Keep you posted and all the best for the new year!

I have been living in France for two and a half years and trying to learn the language. It is quite difficult, especially the grammar - there are so many verbs...lol. I do understand much more than I can speak but I learn a little more each day. Living amongst French people helps, as if you try to speak the language and have difficulties, they will always help. I very often have a language lesson in our local boulongerie (baker's shop)....lol. I really like to travel and always make a point of learning a few words of the language in whichever country I am visiting. Good luck with everybody who is learning a new language.

I know a little bit from a few different languages, as I would have an interest in learning them, and then after learning some, give up. I have been interested in Spanish, French and German in the past. I think Japanese would be interesting because my mian focus has been a lot of European languages.

When I got to read this topic in my mailbox, there was nothing other than 'French' that came up in my mind. I believe even if I can learn little bit of French, I would be able to enjoy some awesome poetry. I have read the translated versions though. And I am really glad to know that you have already started learning that! Keep it up.

Since I have done my master's in English i am quite fluent with the language. As an additional second language I did French.I studied it for 3 years.Even today I can read and understand but the spoken part of it is still quite difficult to handle.I would like to be well versed with spoken French.Actually I have this urge to do German and Japanese.I find there are many job opportunities if you know some foreign language. You can work as a translator. Lots of jobs in the hospitality sector. And they really pay very well.In Japan they want people who know Japanese and English. Both China and Japan want English speaking people.

Aha, you know French.Awesome!!! I think pronunciaton is the hardest part and also the most useful coz the basic function of language is to speak. Well, maybe you can be my tutor sometime, aha, when I am confused by these French words. Thanks for sharing, biggerb.

Ni hao ;) I dont want to learn any extra lanaguge as such, as I am not interested in them. Here in India, we need to know hindi for basic communication, and english for better job prospects, and i already know both of them. Apart from it, I am not that passionate about them, but i know hi, hello, and thank you in most of the langauges, as i got a lot of international friends ;) BTW, if you want some free resources like ebboks, and audio and video tapes for learning foreign langaugs like french, italian, german, spnish, japanese, korean, arabic, protuguese, etc, then you can find a lot of interesting stuff here : http://rocobaroco.co.cc xie xie ;)

I already know Spanish---was my second language. English is my native language. I studied Italian for a while but I'm forgetting a lot of that..so I would like to study more Italian & being to study French. However I don't like some of the pronunciations with French they seem different, but I guess I'll just start studying it, right? Pablo

I always wanted to learn a foreign language. When I was young I wanted to learn every language in the world! But i realized soon enough that to be an impossible feat. So now I would probably like to go ahead with Japanese as I really like the culture and history and besides I really like watching Japanese Anime.

Canada is officially biligual, French and English and I know a little French but would like to become more fluent in French. It is more a second language than a foreign language. It is strange that a lot of people in different countries speak several languages but Americans are hostile to the idea of learning foreign language.
