An Odd Thing!

Yesterday I had an odd thing happen to me shortly after I signed into myLot. My daughter had just walked in and I was somewhat distracted in greeting her while trying to respond to a discussion. I noticed a tiny window had appeared on my screen and it had an annoying message. No matter what I did I could not succeed in closing the window down, so I immediately left the site and checked my pc for spyware. I did have an infection so I took care of it. I guess I'm leading up to the fact that myLot is not considered a safe site according to my site advisor. Has anyone else had any problems relating to this site? I always assumed it was safe.

So far my computer has not caught anything from the lot but I have noticed there are a lot of pop-ups trying to open but my security program has been blocking them. I think I should do a full system scan now that we are talking about this. Stay safe.

This is the second time I have heard this with Mylot my friend, another one of my dear friends reported that when she looked at a profile of a person who had requested her friendship it caused her a lot of problems, so please be wary, I don't think any site is 100% safe so it's always safer to err on the side of caution and make sure that your pcs are capable of dealing with any bugs, viruses, trojans, infections etc, always best to be safe than sorry, unfortunately we have to be fully alert.

That is so true, wolfie, and we should never assume that we are 100% safe on any site. I don't visit a lot of sites like I used to because the prospect of ruining your pc is just too risky.

Well with all the things that persons are bringing to the site it will become one of those sites that the protection is blocking. For a couple of days it was being block by my security features but today I seen it lift. We just as to be careful in what we do on this internet.

I have not had any problems. I am pretty new here though. I do notice a lot of popups throughout the site. I would make sure you have some kinda of security in place when being online. Sometimes things are unavoidable though.
I hope that mylot is not full of virus and so forth. I am sure it was a freak acceident. Anyway good luck on your discussion, and happy mylotting. :)

I feel the need to change my spyware protection, momtrying, because I don't think the one I am currently using is as effective as it should be.

I haven't had any problems with MyLot yet, and I have been using it for a little. It may just be your computer, because some computer are like that.

It does not pop up that way for me. I wonder why it does for you and not me. That is strange, but I am glad you caught the infection.

After my problems grew worse, Thoroughrob, I switched to another computer and have had no more trouble.

I have never experienced this. I never had pop ups coming from mylot. I always consider mylot as a safe site. Make sure you are using good antispyware programmes to protect yourself from infection.

I have never had this happen here. I do know that you can get things at other sites too and for some reason they will pop up later. Don't know if that is the case or not thou. I always run spyware and stuff to help not getting some. I also check everyday. The nice thing is it also makes your computer run faster by keeping it clean.

no i have been using this site for a quite few days. till now i have not faced such a pop up window while using the site. i think you must have a pop-up window from another phising site which you thoiught came from the my lot. since you were little distracted with your daughter you didn't notice to that.

Yes as others said i do not have any problems with my lot. Probably that will be from some other source. people who are beinh here for three years do not have any problem. i am sure that my lot is safe to work with.

I don't think the problem you experienced was because of mylot, till today i haven't experienced any problem from mylot except the servers turns slow at times. I use mozilla firefox and there is a add on called WOT and this add on will warn us if the page we are visiting is not safe or it won't allow you to display that page. I find it very useful and it can used in Internet explorer as an add on too. I hope that mylot is safe. Happy new year to you and your family.

I have never had any problems with mylot. I have allways assumed it is safe. I did have that happen to me on other sites though.

No, I have not had any problems. It also depends very much on the software that You use to protect Your computer, and how often You update it. And of course: other web sites that You visit and files that You download can lead to an infection of Your computer. Maybe You were listening to online radio while posted responses on MyLot?

I have not listened to the radio while on myLot in months, lisafiat, but I do download quite a bit of stuff(mostly games), but only from sites that I have grown to trust. With all of that, however, you still have to be careful.
