Happy New Year

2009 - Ah yes! The New Year is upon us. As with anything that is new, there is both excitement and apprehension. Will things works our, we ask? Will we have better luck this year? Will we do well? Will we prosper?
Even globally, we can't help thinking, will things improve economically? Will the new President in the white house change the future of the world? Will there be peace in the middle east? Will the world of terrorism invade our shores?
Yes, natural queries that plague the mind. Natural worries and anxieties. Natural thoughts. When you look back at any year that was and you take in the year that is coming ahead of you, there will be bound to be change. If change isn't the only constant in the world, what is? Only death and taxes? No, change is inevitable. Don't we tend to look at new year beginnings as the end of something else? In truth life is continuous and one year flows in to the next. We think that when we cry out "Happy New Year" at the toll of midnight on the 31st December, we are herding a change. Yet, the flow of time is seamless. It is we who are setting the boundaries - the demarcation of time. "Happy New year to all"

We all need to take stock now and then. Check what we've done and see how we can improve. The start of a new year is just a good place to draw the line. We seem to have to set a date when we make changes in our life so we can look back to see if we have made any progress. That is why we celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. As long as humans are alive we will be celebrating different benchmarks.

We all welcome the new year with high hope and hope this year brings more happiness and fun. There's no point to be successful but sad. Makes no sense. Yes, reach for the mountaintop. But enjoy the climb as well. I agree with you, as long as human are alive we should celebrate the different benchmarks. Life is certainly full of material pleasures that really do make the journey more delightful.

The one thing I haven't done this year is celebrate!
As you say, so rightly, life is continuous and change is inevitable but when you are faced with a change you'd do anything to avoid it's hard to be happy about it!
2009 is going to be a very hard year for me and my family and the only way we can face it is by not asking for anything other than strength to endure the bad times and the wisdom to enjoy what good things may happen!
Sometimes it's really better not to know what the future holds!

What else can any human being do in the face of hard times but to strive harder in achieving the comfort of life. World class human beings turn their wounds into wisdom. All past years failures could bring us closer to success. The possibilities are there for us to venture further despite the hard times. Hopefully 2009 will bring a better life for us.

I face the loss of my partner of 40 years and given this 'news' just before the Holiday season so forgive me if I sound uncaring about the World!
I wish everyone Happiness in their lives and a better future for the World but 2009 is never going to be a year I'll want to remember!

The one constant about life is change, So no matter how we humans cut it up any period of time will include change. How we accept and use the change determines how we will live our lives. We know there will be flood and drought, hunger and plenty
somewhere in the world at all time if we could get ahead of the curve we would be able to make living easier for all.

It is sad that natural disasters as well as man-made disasters have become part of human life and every now and then the occurrence of these disasters take a toll on human life and the impact drives shocking waves to all. But please don't forget about those basic but beautiful treasures to be loved along the way. Like deep human connections, realizing your best through fulfilling work, exploring the world and experiencing the glory of nature - like a sensational sunset that fills your soul or a full moon set against a star filled sky. Enrich your life with more of them and your heart will be happy. And you can start your new year with sweet breezes.

Happy New Year back to you as well. 2009 is going to be an interesting yr. and it is interesting to see what will happen for us all. Yes, it is meant to be a yr. of change, but I think for all of us, it depends on what we are wanting to do with it as well. I guess we can only hope for the best and share things with others hoping always for the best in everything.

Yes, you are right that when the New Year arrives we do hope that the things and events will change for the better. Our hopes and expectations from the new year always remain at there place and if hopes and expectations are not there, we just cannot live the other day. Last year was a mix of good and bad events and hopefully, the new year would be better in that respect.

Yep....good year, it has frozen for a while but can't totally evade these stalkings. But I think it is natural here and there are advantages too as surely every discussions of mine is being responded by these 'well meaning' friends.

Ha. Happy New Year yo you... And it sure has started on a high not for me. I was waiting for the results of an exam I had written to get in to the Air Force. Those results have come and I have cleared the exam. All I got now is to face the interview session and by this time next year, I'll be flying.
Hope it will go in a good swing all round the year without any thing happening off to dampen the moods.

I thought that in 2009 certainly is a good new year,certainly is a good start,I hoped that the economy also has the change for the better,this will be a peaceful age,regardless of how to change,we should call to be new year good.

Hi zandi! Happy New Year to you too! And you have made a very
good point! Even though we are in a new year it is only a
continuation of the one before and whatever unfinished things
that were going on before are going to have to be finished
anyway! I have unfortuanately some health problems to deal
with that are no very pleasant and didn't go away because
the year changed. So I am quite aprehensive already about
the start of this new year. I have things to face that may
not be good already. And as for what the country has to face,
that is only to be seen also. So as you said, saying Happy
New Year only changes the date on the calendar, not what is
necessarily going to happen immediatlely in ones life!

Good health is vital for the continuity of human life. Be positive about your health, just don't dwell too much on health problems. Take whatever medications prescribed by your doctor and live a happy and fun life. What you do today is actually creating your future. The food you eat and the exercise you take make changes in your health. I sincerely hope that your health issue will soon be a history and face the new year in tip top health.
