One of the duties of my job is to go out to eat with groups of clients.

We went to a Chinese buffet the other day, and of course, we got fortune cookies. I am not superstitious at all, but I am greatly amused by the fact that I got a retroactive fortune cookie. "You will be singled out for a promotion.", fits rather well with what just happened, right?

I'm not superstitious, either. But it would be nice if there was another pending promotion, wouldn't it!!

I thought maybe it was talking about the one I just got, but it was slow.

Maybe it was waiting just for me. The people I was with, both staff and clients, enjoyed the idea.

Maybe that cookie has been waiting for you to get there. How often do you go out for Chinese? When was the previous time that you went there? Was it BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY GOT THIS PROMOTION? I tend to think it was just great timing. What do you think? Does anyone else have a comment?

If you didn't just receive a promotion, I think you should frame your fortune, attractively matted and hang it near your desk. If you did recently get a promotion (or raise) wouldn't hurt to hang it anyway. Then put it away until next year and re-hang it. Repeat annually.

Sounds like a neat idea. My promotion does not have a desk with it though. It is an active traveling around type of promotion.

Well then, when you have it matted have the fortune neatly centered under a picture of yourself. Then hang it in your bosses' office.

That is funny, Your fortune was right on. When you go out in a group like that, is it just you or are there other workers with you. How many clients do you go out with? I am just curious, I think what you do is terrific. I have a cousin who has downs, she goes out with a group too, she loves it. They will sometimes go bowling, maybe out to eat and shopping at the mall. Things like that.

It depends on the level of severity of the handicapped people. Actually we went out with two groups, that chose to go to the same restaurant. So there were six clients and two drivers/staff with them. In this group was one client who is Aspergers, and college educated There was one client who needed his food gotten for him, and others who just needed assistance with paying.

I work with adults with disabilities. I am a program coordinator. Make sure they get to their jobs and social activities, and doctor appointments. It is a company that has been in our town for awhile, and since I have experience with disabled children, I applied for a position. I have been there a couple of years, and when my immediate superior got a promotion, she suggested I apply for her position.

HI Garden gerty I do envy your job. I like Chinese cuisine a lot. I am glad that you had a promotion recently. You deserve it because from what you posts here you seem a hard working person. I hope that you get cooperation from your mates. (c) ronaldinu 2009 - the more people I meet-the more I love my dog

I do not think I would enjoy either of the other two positions that would equal another promotion. One is case manager, and that is where my previous boss promoted to, and the other would be assistant program manager, both of which would involve more paper work and office time than I would want to put in.

Well, it could be the fortune was stale or it could also be that ANOTHER promotion is in your future....OR....given that promotion is also the name for an offer as opposed to an advancement, you may be going to get one of those Nigerian scam e-mails or some such in the mail. Hah! I just hope I never get a fortune cookie that reads, "Guess what! The food you just ate was poisoned..." I guess they do have "funny" fortunes in some of them, but I would not find that amusing. Was the food yummy?

They have some very good dishes. Seems there are new owners or at least a new cook because things are a little spicier. I get those Nigerian and other country things all the time. My hubby swears that he got a fortune one time that said "You like Chinese food."

Maybe it's a sign of further good fortune? Though it may be a little early to be looking to climb the ladder further! How's the new role going?

It seems like almost all I have to write about lately is work related. I even dream about things at the agency, as well. I guess my friends will be hearing about it.

So you get the priveledge of going out with groups of clients? This sounds like an interesting job addition, and hopefully will be always to your advantage as well as you can learn so much from others around you for sure. And that is an interesting Fortune to get, and does explain what just happened for you in your life as well. Personally I never take any heed when I open one as well, but yours was on Target for you even if it is a little later than before it happened.

that was really great, amazing you got that one, of all the fortunes that could have come up. You no those things are just made up in a factory and there are only so many of them in each bag and say the bag has 100 fortunes in it there would probably be only 10 different fortunes and the rest are all repeats.
